Hey kids,
I was screwing around with jcsullins, creator of moboot. He explained how to modify the image that is used for the moboot background. I made this one, and would like to share it with you.
Just flash this with CWM or TWRP and it will replace your current moboot. This does not change the operation of the moboot, it just gives it some "flare", or as I call it, "Kyle Style". LOL
Since the image is bigger than just a blank black screen, it does take a split second to load. This is normal.
Let me know what you think!
Here is what the background looks like:
{

Here is the link to the file:

If you want to get rid of this afterwards, just use this file from jcsullins:

or his own new gray theme:

Here's mine! Just flash the attachment and you'll be set!
Here's one for cm9 too! post a screenshot in the morning.
This is pretty awesome. I've prepared one but idk how to prepare a flashable zip for it :/
edit: yep, you can just use root explorer and mount /boot as rw and then place the moboot.background.tga inside /boot (then mount ro again) and reboot.
voila:

the bad thing about this is, that it takes around 2-3 extra seconds to load the image

Your wish has been granted. Check OP.
Hey rev, you mentioned on the video to 'not tick the RLE' option in the photoshop saving process which is actually false. That checkbox says "compress RLE (Run Length Encoding)" which can turn a 3mb file to 100kb (32bit) and if you choose the 16bit profile you can get the 3mb file to around 50kb.
My suggestion for photoshop users is to tick compress RLE but choose the 24bit or 32bit profile (16bit wont play nice with gradients).
Rev got a question and ask a favor. I have no idea how to expand on the vid and also think Photoshop would be required. I have the following 2 images and would like to have HP on top and Android on bottom. I'm sure the blacks are off, but would think that Ps could fix that and join them and format it to the size we need... heavy sigh. Can this be done?

I'm pretty sure that I said TO check the box. I double checked the video. I DO say to check it off, both in GIMP and in Photoshop.
Also, I would love for you to share with me a way to make a 1024x768 tga file down to 50kb. I have yet to get one below 900kb.
I must have heard wrong then, sorry for that.
I use Adobe Photoshop CS 5.1 (not sure if its different in previous/newer versions) and here is an image with my settings for the save as ->targa:
and here is the file itself:

Made one for myself, took awhile but finally got it going. Here is a preview:

If anyone is intersested, I can post the .tga file.

Just edited the txt file. The first two figures are the two resolution values. You have to make sure to save the zip archive without compression, though, if I remember correctly.
Is there a reason the animation always plays portrait?
Can I force it into landscape somehow?
Thanks!
it is just based on png images. you would have to rotate all the images manually and recreate the archive. the png images are 512x256, so i'm not sure how you would get it to look good landscape. it would either: (1) take up only a small part of the screen; or (2) you would only see a small portion of the animation.
(unless you mean the little letters spelling out ANDROID before the honeycomb animation, which is not part of the bootanimation.zip file.)

i have used root explorer on my phone but not on the NC yet. how would i use it to change the boot animation. i'm on nookie froyo (from internal) 0.6.7, but i don't think that would have an effect on the boot animation, right?
thanks!
Rename the file bootanimation.zip. (Not sure if this is necessary on all versions of Android, but it was for me on Honeycomb.)
Copy the file to your SD card.
Insert your SD card into your Nook.
Open Root Explorer and navigate to the file you copied onto the SD card.
Long press on the file until the menu comes up and choose either COPY or MOVE.
Navigate to /data/local and press the PASTE button.
Reboot.
thanks! gonna give it a try today.
anyone have a video of it?
I loaded this as instructed and it just kept rebooting the animation and never would load. I had to reinstall Honeycomb just to get it working.

Which version of Honeycomb are you using? I wrote my instructions (a few posts above yours) as I was adding this boot animation to my Nook Color running Honeycomb eMMC 2nd edition. It works fine on mine. Although it doesn't even get all the way through the animation before it's done booting.
Just curious but has anyone gotten this to work on the sd version of honeycomb, I renamed the file to bootanimation.zip and pushed it to /data/local/, it did not show at boot just stock android boot screen, anything I'm doing wrong?

If you can photoshop a little they are very easy to make.
Just find a cool battery icon and rebuild it a little
Basically you need 7 .PNG's of 320x480 pixels names charging_animation_01.png --to--chargning_animation_07.png and copy them in your system folder.
but if not, then just check around here, there are more sequences to be found.
I'll make more myself in the future and post them here.

I used photoshop to make my own offline charging animation using the following configuration: 320x480, RGB, 8bit, .PNG format.
Inside the Rom (gallery for example), all .PNG files are perfectly shown; but the odd thing is, all red colors are shown blue in the device during offline charging. Any idea on root of the problem?
one question
how did you got the star under the thanx meter?

You should not use these colors.
Best is always to 'save for web' > shift+ctrl+alt+s
just select PNG-24 there and deselect transparency.
Have 'Convert to sRGB' enabled and set it to monitor colors
if that doesn't work, i really have no clue..

I take no responsibility for any harm that may come to your phone trying this.
You must be rooted for this to work
check out the links at the bottom on this post for ninjamorph stuff
****The new image must be the same size as the old image for this to work****
I was able to get the notification changed using ninjamorph and rootexplorer.
1. rename your image stat_notify_email.png
2. Open ninjamorph and start a new project.
3. go to data/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk
4. When you click it, it should extract the folder.
5. On the next screen click copy it(lower right corner).
It should tell you where the copy was saved. For me it was on my phone storage in androidthemes/workspace
From there i went to rootexplorer( you could also do this part on your computer).
1. open androidthemes/workspace/com.google.android.gm-1.apk/res
2. Locate these file:
drawable-hdpi,
drawable-mdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-hdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-mdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-xhdpi,
drawable-xhdpi
3. This may just be an extra step but i went through each of these files and added .bak to the end of each original image so it looked like this: stat_notify_email.png.bak (this will keep the original as a backup in the folder).
4. Copy/paste the new image named stat_notify_email.png into each of these folders.
If you don't rename the files when you paste you will just replace the original.
5. Once you have placed the image in all the file you will go back to ninjamorph and click finish project.
6. Click the com.google.android.gm-1.apk
7. It will then create package
8. It will ask if you are sure you want to replace the .apk....click yes
9. It will ask if you want to optimize using zipalign...click yes
10. It will ask if you want to clean up/delete project...Click yes or no(up to you)
11. Once it is done, reboot phone and it should have the new notification icon but it will have a dark tint from the notification bar.
I have not done that much with ninjamorph so there probably is a shorter way to do all this.
Here are a couple links to using ninjamorph:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uD0o52typs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674604
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...ninjamorph-change-notification-bar-icons.html
Hopefully this works for you.

If anyone is interested, here are the boot/shutdown animations from the OG JB ROM. Just copy and paste them into /system/media. (I'm pretty sure you have to be rooted)
The shutdown animation is first in the video just fyi.
I increased the speed to 30fps as the original 12fps was a little too slow for my taste but you can change it to whatever you like. To do this just change the "30" to something else in the desc.txt file. I'm not sure if there are minimum or maximum values.

I use WinRAR so I don't even have to extract the files to change the speed. Just double click desc.txt, edit the above text, then save it. WinRAR will prompt you to save the modified file.

I am on PAC ROM.
I have changed the Power On Animation by replacing the file in "/system/media/bootanimation.zip".
I can not find the Shutdown.zip to be replaced. There is no such file in "/system/media/" nor there is any other directories under other than "/system/media/audio"
Thanks.

The Animation is set to loop until the boot process is finished.. depending on how long your device takes to boot-up it may end up at different positions (frames) or did you mean the animation get stuck at green right?
What do you mean no network? did you let the device settle after the boot for few minutes..

Like I said if the boot is finished then its normal. I'm not sure what's causing the network issue, try cache/dalvik-cache wipe.

Hey, I've downloaded Bounce Dark v1 for my XP, but it didn't work. All I could see during boot was black screen.
Then I've repacked it with no compression and tried again. Now it work like a charm. Thx

Hey , whoever made this did a really great job.
I really like those swallow and ace animations, however i don't know how it works...apk?
Could you please make a version that you can use on any phone, like a zip file - it doesn't even need to be flashable,
because i know how to make my own boot animations and i would just need the pictures.
