Wallpaper issue with Touchwiz - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
When I use touchwiz to set my wallpaper the image i have chosen becomes bad quality and loses its sharpness. So I have to use a photo editing software on the phone to set the wallpaper and the quality is much sharper.
Am i the only one having this problem?

G3 wallpaper really kill me!! Help!!

I got my G3 Hero few days ago, there's one thing really made me sick. Every time when I set a downloaded high quality picture as wallpaper or lock screen background, the picture turns to bad quality. I tried JPG, BMP and PNG format, all turns to bad quality. It is so strange that the JPG wallpapers come with the system work no problem at all.
I used the correct resolution picture: 640*480 , 320 *480. The google phone can't even simply set a wallpaper? can anyone help me on this? Appreciated!!
Is there anything to do with ROM? My ROM # is: 2.73.751.4 146733 CL#61205 release-keys: confused:
Search for a free app on the market called 'Wallpaper Set and Save' - sets wallpapers at full quality with no compression

[Q] Wallpaper? [Problem Solved]

How do you make the best possible wallpapers for the X2?

I'd be interested in the answer to your question, but if you want some good wallpaper while you are waiting, make sure you are searching for qHD wallpapers for other qHD phones, such as the Atrix.
Alternately, you can search for a specific size image with google image search online. Standard is twice the width, by the height of your screen.
qHD = 540x960
Wallpaper = 1080x960
Good luck making your own.
What I do is take an image that has a higher pixel size than what our screen has and crop it to 1080 x 960. The thing is, it doesn't get as sharp as I'd like. I feel like it should be super sharp. Icons are super sharp, why not the wallpaper, ya know. Does it have something to do with the screen itself?
Using the size parameters mentioned in the previous posts you can use photoshop or gimp (free!) and create your own custom wallpapers.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
I noticed when viewing an image in the gallery and zooming it in to the size of the screen the picture is crystal clear, but when you set it as a wallpaper it gets a little pixelated so we know its not the hardware or picture itself. Could someone explain this, maybe the software could be tweaked? Try it out, the attached picture is a good example but it does it with all pictures.
Problem solved
What happens is that android compresses the pictures too much when setting them, causing distortion. Using an app called "Wallpaper Set And Save" sets the wallpaper and makes it crystal clear!

SGS2 Wallpaper quality

Is it me or is the wallpapers that get assigned for backgrounds become bad quality. For example I have taken a picture with an SLR, sharp crisp image but when its assigned as a wallpaper the quality is lost! I love my sgs2 but i dont like the quality of wallpapers. Any tips?
Ive tried resizing but its not the same. Never had this problem with non android phones.
yes the pictures actually become low in quality when set as wallpaper on touchwiz ROMs, I was very pissed about it but found a solution.Resize the image to 960x800 and save it in .png format, it wont turn into crappy quality then or switch to ICS or AOSP ROMs.
Download wallpaper set and save from the market and use it to set your wallpaper. Quality will remain

[Q] Wallpaper quality

Just got an Xperia S and noticed that when setting a wallpaper (using the Gallery app), it makes you crop it but when set the quality is nowhere near the quality of the original and the contrast is poor. Setting a different wallpaper for the lock screen seems fine.
I've tried using Wallpaper set and save but this is worse as it seems to be designed for lower res screens.
Any ideas how to set a wallpaper without losing quality? (using the stock launcher). Also is it possible to set one as protrait so it doesn't scroll between screens?
Came from an HTC Desire and never had this issue.
TIA
