Just got an Xperia S and noticed that when setting a wallpaper (using the Gallery app), it makes you crop it but when set the quality is nowhere near the quality of the original and the contrast is poor. Setting a different wallpaper for the lock screen seems fine.
I've tried using Wallpaper set and save but this is worse as it seems to be designed for lower res screens.
Any ideas how to set a wallpaper without losing quality? (using the stock launcher). Also is it possible to set one as protrait so it doesn't scroll between screens?
Came from an HTC Desire and never had this issue.
TIA

Hello,
how can I get high quality wallpaper without any blur on my HD2? I found some cabs on xda forum (high quality wallpapers cabs). Can I only install these cabs to my phone? Or I need to have some patch at first?
Many thanks
The screen's resolution is 480x800. Just google wallpaper 480x800.
If you ever try out android, there is an app called zedge which has some great wallpaper in it.
zedge.net, no need for the app.
The app lets you download and set wallpaper and ringtones so it's better than the site. Give it a try if you like Zedge's content.

I understand the resolutions....... But when Im setting the wallpaper 480 x 800 as the background, there is somtehing like blur on home screen across this wallpaper.... there is not the same quality as the whole wallpaper.
understand?
Search for HDWall. It comes with a HQ patch that allows real 480x800 wallpapers. When you set the wallpaper in Sense, it resizes it to something smaller and then resizes it again to fit the screen. I have no idea why HTC would do something so stupid, but they have.
There is no way to just set a wallpaper and keep it 480x800. Alternatively, install Co0kie's Home Tab. I believe that comes with an option to set HQ wallpaper.
Hi
When I use touchwiz to set my wallpaper the image i have chosen becomes bad quality and loses its sharpness. So I have to use a photo editing software on the phone to set the wallpaper and the quality is much sharper.
Am i the only one having this problem?

Probably .
You could use the search button and ask an oft repeated question .

Is it me or is the wallpapers that get assigned for backgrounds become bad quality. For example I have taken a picture with an SLR, sharp crisp image but when its assigned as a wallpaper the quality is lost! I love my sgs2 but i dont like the quality of wallpapers. Any tips?
Ive tried resizing but its not the same. Never had this problem with non android phones.
yes the pictures actually become low in quality when set as wallpaper on touchwiz ROMs, I was very pissed about it but found a solution.Resize the image to 960x800 and save it in .png format, it wont turn into crappy quality then or switch to ICS or AOSP ROMs.
Download wallpaper set and save from the market and use it to set your wallpaper. Quality will remain

Hey guys, I have made some high quality images of the resolution 1080x1920 for my SGS4. They look AWESOME in the normal gallery, but when I try to set it as a wallpaper, it somehow gets blurry, as if it's shrunk down/cropped.
Is the resolution for the actual homescreen really that resolution? Or is it being cropped down to a certain number? Is there some way I can set it without it being cropped/reduced in quality? :/

Try using the app quickpic. I use it instead of gallery and it works fine.

Tried,.. Still the same results sadly. It becomes blurrier when setting it as background. I even double checked the size of the image, and it's definitely the correct size. :/ Looks perfect when viewing it in the Gallery / QuickPic Preview, looks blurry when it's actually being set as Wallpaper.
It's not really blurry per se, but ummm less sharp and detailed, basically.
