Ok. I have the 3D with hboot 1.5. I was running Nocturnal Blackend 2.5. I made NAND backup using TWRP 2.0 (themed). Ever since applying the theme on the recovery, I have had 1 MAJOR problem....it will NOT restore my backup. Unfortunately, the only ROMs on my SD card are ICS builds. My problem with them is they don't have MARKET! When I go to online market, I never get any of my downloads!
I managed to figure out how to get a zip onto the phone's SDcard. NOW the problem is when I wipe 2 times & then flash, it gets stuck on the "HTC" screen. Do I need to adb push this? If so, HOW do I use adb to flash a ROM?
It won't let u at all? Or it gets stuck at one point?

It won't restore ANY of my backups. It gets stuck on the HTC boot screen. I have only been successful flashing ICS builds, which I do NOT prefer. For some reason, this Evervolv ROM won't sync with my gmail, therefore my contacts.

IF you're s on, it maybe that you're trying to restore some part of the os which is not allowed (.ie kernel etc). So check your back up ( adb shell <cr> li <cr> (find the back dir ) cd (back up dir) li -af <cr> ) look to see if there are portions (folders) in the backup which address regions which htc won't allow.
btw if it were my phone (s on) I'd start anew. Load a ruu, reroot, reload recovery ( don't theme) . Choose a rom and flash it. Get my apps from titanium, if market and gmail aren't working get then get a cyanomod set of gapps.
If you're S off then reload recovery (un themed) , try again, check your recovery log and go from there.
If you made the twrp backups with a previous version of twrp you will need to downgrade twrp to a earlier version before you can restore them
TWRP backups not working
Okay,,,,,I have Twrp and create a nandroid backup, but when I go to use the backup it tells me "fail" then my phone only boots to the Samsung logo and stops. So every time I try a new rom I have to start from scratch. I've tried using both internal and external storage both with the same results. All my files do show up also. Any idea why?

Hey, this is my first post so be easy!
I rooted my One X a while back and it has been fine and only now I decided to install a ROM.
I went for Cyanogenmod 9 and followed the instructions to install it on my phone.
IT went smoothly and runs okay as far as I can tell apart from Recovery Mode.
Everytime I go to boot into recovery it just starts the phone as usual. It doesn't get stuck on the boot screen or anything, it starts just like normal but it doesn't start in recovery!
I have tried doing to through the Power + Volume Down method and through CLockworkMod app, no luck.
I have also tried to reflash Recovry but it still doesn't start.
This is frustrating as I can't even restore my phone to an earlier backup due to this.
Any ideas??
Cheers!

reboot recovery

Sorry for my complete 'noobness' but whats that adb?

ADB is short of android debug bridge. It comes with the android sdk.You can google it. Once ypu install the sdk you can google how to set up and use adb. Also don't forget to put ypur phone in debugging mod via Settings> Application>Developmemt

I have tried that, using adb reboot reovery, and it will doesn't load. Just boots the phone like normal. :/
Any other ideas?

Go to the download mode and flash the stock because it includes stock recovery
if your are on this point youre full resored and could go on flashing roms ==)
Riiiight I've managed to get into recovery (by clicking factory reset in bootloader) and Ive restored a backup which I did before installing the ROM.
But now It's bootlooping!
I think I need a new boot.img.

Hi everybody,
here is my problem: I can not boot any kind of ROM or recovery image. CWM is working properly (it is an internal CWM). I have this issue since I tried to install the CM9 with 3.0.x kernel. I am pretty sure that this situation is all my fault, I mean, I do not think the nook has any kind of damage.
How can I fix it?
PS: I can easily flash the ROMs and the recovery images, but when I reboot the device, it just reboots in CWM.
PPS: I don't know if this can be useful: at the end of the flashing process it says "sd-ext.img not found. skipping restore of sd-ext".
Thanks

The message at end is normal. Did you create a backup using cwm prior to attempting to load new rom? Did you perform reset and clear cache post loading new rom? What were you running prior to this? This might help in determining what the issue is.

- Yes, I've created a backup before loading the new ROM but not using CWM (I've used rom manager).
- Yes, I performed wipe cache and data after loading the ROM.
- When everything was working fine I was on CM7 Alpha Final (the all-in-one-mod version).
Check if there is a backup file in SD/clockworkmod/backup. If so, try restoring backup through CWM. I've had the same problem flashing cm9 3.01 with CWM 5.0. The easiest way back was to restor a backup of previous mod.
Good luck

If u have any zip file of cm7 rom extract it on ur PC there u will find a file "boot.img" , copy it to ur fastboot folder, then in command prompt type "fastboot boot boot.img", that's it the old 2.xx kernel will be flashed

Ok I have some questions.
- Where exactly is the "fastboot folder"?
- Do I have to plug in the SD card into the computer before using the terminal?
Sorry for my ignorance!
Everything here usage, commands etc..
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Fastboot
Connect ur device with the data cable and use fastboot, one more thing, u should install ur device USB drivers first

PS: I have a Mac. Do I always need the drivers?
Yes, drivers are compulsory
Where can I find the drivers?
Oops sorry, no need of drivers for Mac

By the way, the command is
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
In addition, before you go flashing new kernels, you might want to try and just re-flash CWM. Not sure if it would work, but it's just a thought. You could boot into a CM7 SD ROM, then use @Indirect's Recovery Flasher App to re-flash CWM to see if you just had a bad recovery install. At any rate, good luck.
Ok. But I can't make fastboot works! When I open the program (that is a terminal window) I'm not able to type anything.

Don't open the terminal in that folder, just open the normal terminal and type"fastboot", now u should able to see the list of fastboot commands

When I write "fastboot" nothing happens (it says "command not found").
I don't know if this could help: I just would like to make it run. I don't need any particular ROM. Even a "simple" unrooted stock could be good. I don't mind if I will loose all the data.
I used ROM TOOLS LITE and set up a boot screen that wont go past the Video image and i dont know what to do. i can use clock work but i accidentally wiped my card. if theres a way to manually do this please let me know asap...
IM USING THE NEWEST VERSION OF CYANOGENMOD 9 IM A NOOB AT THIS SO MUCH HELP IS NEEDED....
Do a full wipe and reinstall your rom. I hope you have backed up apps with TiBackup.
You can also try Restore from Nandroid backup in CWM,if you have one.

reboot into recovery and flash the rom.
Hi guys,
I basically wiped my phone and completely forgot to copy the ROM I wanted to flash into my ext SD card. Now, the phone has no ROM to boot into and I need to be able to mount it onto Windows from within the recovery to be able to do it. I'm running CWM 6.0.2.7
Has anyone ever done this? What should I do?
Thanks
Wipe data doesn't mean format (like PC) it's just a factory reset
you can flash any official FW for your device by Odin
So it isn't possible for Windows to detect the phone in any way so I can copy the ROM into it?
It's possible by using ADB and push it
but why you don't boot up your device and copy it?
Use adb to push the file onto the card. Or remove ext. SD card and use a reader to copy it over.
Here is a good adb interface, it has easy push/pull where you just supply the two file paths and hit go,

Thanks for the prompt replies everyone.
I just re-flashed an original FW through Odin, rooted it back, re-installed CWM Recovery and now tried to flash a new rom, in this case, Foxhound and after it tries to reboot it comes back into CWM always... it never boots into the ROM..
Anyone has any clue why this would be happening?

The ROM? Just did and the same thing happens, boots up to Samsun Galaxy logo, then that "eye" logo then reboots again into CWM. At all times.
I just installed Omega just to try it out and it works, boots into the ROM, with Foxhound it doesn't even reach the Foxhound Logo, it reboots and goes back to CWM... Any ideas? I can't post in the Foxhound thread due to lack of posts
Flash stock Rom, and allow it to boot up properly before you do anything else....did you do that?

Yes, two times already. Then rooted, then flashed CWM Recovery then wiped data etc, flashed foxhound and same thing happens. Tried Omega and it boots into it, it's only Foxhound and I really wanted to try it...
I'm sorry this thread has derailed into another issue but thought it wasn't worth cluttering with yet another thread.
Is it possible to shut down the phone from CWM Recovery aside from doing a battery pull?
Could be a bad download. Try downloading again.
Heres my problem.
I did a backup on cwm and it wouldnt restore due to md5 mismatch.
The only rom i had on my phone to flash was trickdroid but it keeps freezing in aroma.
Now im trying to sideload adb flash this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752
but it sits at the bootscreen
not sure what do to from here since i cant transfer any files over to the phone.
First off Trickdroid will boot
Read below ! The boot process takes an unusual amount of time ... Don't think it's not booting .
If your stuck in aroma installer and can't get it to let you boot system up power off Device manually then power up .
If your out of aroma installer and stuck on boot up Just Wait!!trust me it takes along time ...I thought the same thing but it will boot .
Why did your cwm nandroid ..display a md5 mismatch?
Is your backup from twrp or cwm.
Know that if you already don't ...that normally a backup with cwm won't restore if you flash a diff recovery such as twrp. Each one requires there own backup..if that's the case ? I don't know !
Trickdroid does stick at the end of aroma installer . @tleast it did for me The good thing is it happenes to be you can get it to boot. When it's done and acting like it's sitting doing nothing after aroma is finished ..just power cycle phone hold power for 10-15 seconds till it powers off and power on it will then boot into system.
Other option is to get Into hboot and just flash twrp which most prefer I've seen a lot of posts about cwm being problematic.
One option to get out of the botched cwm issue is to try and Manually flash twrp via fastboot method
And then see if you can flash a rom.
It seems as if you lost your backup.
The good thing about twrp is that you can select individually what to backup
Which is boot system and data is all you need .
Good luck !

thank you! im sure something from this will help! i was just hoping i was missing something a bit more obvious.
I actually started on twrp but it wasnt reading my storage.
So i switched to cwm and did my backup.
Then i flashed trickdroid which kept freezing so ill try your trick.
but when i tried to restore it gave me the md5 mismatch.
now im back on twrp trying to get back to normal,
Ill reply back if it works!
Fixed
