Download the motorola update tool from the Atrix website
You could also check the Motorola noobs guide; it covers how to unlock and root the phone, which will you be needing
I suggest installing a custom rooms which will work better than the stock version

Indiatimes sells it for 18K
In all likelihood, it would already have GB 2.3.4. So do not worry.

This phone must have been imported from countries like US or UK, just try find that there is any sign of operator name like At&t, t-Mobile or Orange etc., in the phone box, you can find it. If you find that only you can update your phone.

You have scared me all the more man...anyone has counter claims to make against this one?? From what i have heard elsewhere, the update is a phone update...nothing to do with SIM card...

Sim card? if you're referring to your network you'll still be able to use it after any of these updates.it wont lock the network.it will only lock the bootloader.
If you want to do it through the SD card method remember that you'll first have to update your phone to a newer version of froyo and then update once more to gingerbread. the automated version will save you the hassle.
And btw your warranty is a sellers warranty not manufacturers warranty.so i suggest you unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom, as it wont affect your warranty status.

I think there is some confusion and i am to be blamed...i have an AT&T phone, not sure if the bootloader is locked or not...I am in India and am using a GSM SIM card here. Now the phone is Froyo...i want a Gingerbread upgrade. I have discovered two ways, through Wifi and through the SD card...
I currently don't have Wifi...so am planning to go ahead with the SD card method.
+ my fear, if i update it through the wifi, my Network may get blocked again. Here was my actual conusion...but I think i will wait for a while...I am using a Froyo 2.2.2 currently...what is the next version until i get on board the Gingerbread??
Thanx again...

Thanks man! I have unlock code but I don't know how to find the enter box
Curious.. What benefits are there exactly to "unlocking" your phone? Using it on a different carrier? Can you do that with Verizon's Razr/Maxx?
Are there any idea ?
Put your new sim in (Non Verizon) and it should prompt for an unlock code
-If I change the rom, will it still be locked?
-if I change the kernel, still be locked?
-if I change the modem, still locked?
Thanks ;')
The Verizon Razr has no SIM lock and is therefore unlocked by default.
The new ICS leaks enable global use by default with foreign SIMs, no unlock code required.
Same for D4.
Well dunno about xt910, but my old SE X10 mini was unlocked...and I flashed CM7 on it and it was locked again... (maybe it wa a software unlock?)

So what you mean by Verizon Razr is XT912(CDMA) right or XT910(GSM)? If its unlocked by default, then why is it under Verizon anyway?
What I get here is:
-Cant use CDMA for international
-Flash to ICS is possible, and will unlock for international use
correct me if I'm wrong
Thank You

I live in Europe (only GSM carriers available in my country) and a friend of mine came with an XT912 from Verizon, bought in the US.
Since I can buy it at a bargain price, I am very interested in knowing if it can be unlocked via ICS update.
At the moment when a foreign SIMCARD is inserted the SIM CARD NOT VALID message appears.
Waiting for your reply.
TY,
Tiberiu
The message should say " This SIM card is from an unknown source!" and should be able to be dismissed and everything will work anyway.
There is no true SIM lock that requires a code based on the IMEI like a typical carrier locked GSM phone or previous VZW global capable phones have.
The ICS builds, once officially released, have global services enabled using the same string in the RF_BC_CONFIG_I NV Item that we have been using to enable GSM.
If you have a RAZR on 2.3.6 then you need to apply the NV edit to make it work.
If you flash to the latest leaked ICS build, it should all just work by default.
This only works for non US carriers for international GSM use.
There is still a separate lock on US GSM carriers that we need to find and disable if possible.
Hope this answers your questions.
Thanks man, indeed it says "This SIM card is from an unknown source!"
Hope I will get the phone soon and manage to unlock it successfully
Verizon announced an OTA yesterday that will enable GSM for Razr, Maxx and D4.
It will be unlocked.
Wait a few weeks.
Back with news: got the phone, did a factory data reset (just to check the rumors that some XT912 aren't able to factory reset successfully) and activated the phone via the 4 fingers trick at android screen.
@cellzealot - phone runs on Android 2.3.6, baseband version CDMA_N_04.07.012R LTEDC_U_07.1F.00.
Because I come from the iPhone scene and I'm afraid to screw something by updating to ICS I would like to try first enabling GSM function using RF_BC_CONFIG_I NV Item.
Tried doing a search but didn't find anything helpful so I kindly ask you to give me some hints in applying the patch.
Thanks in advance and kind regards!

Look at the bottom of that page for the last 2 posts by jimmydafish.
That explains how to use RadioComm to do the NV edit.
That is the fastest and easiest way to do it if you are willing to use proprietary service ware and have a PC with drivers installed etc.
If you want to use the zip files I made then you need to root the phone and install the Razr Bootstrap recovery and then run the zip file from there.
Thanks a lot, after a couple of failed attempts it worked like a charm!
So, if anyone tries on Win7 64bit - after installing RadioComm 11.12.2 you should install Motocast as well, otherwise drivers won't work.
I have one final question, since I read on other forums that users had no luck enabling GSM with ICS update : NV edit trick works also on ICS or just on GB?
Once again, many thanks!

I lost my radio signal, I cannot talk or text.
I searched from the internet to find solution but Non of the informations are up to date.
I'm so noob to fix the phone but I have no choice, I will try it. I bought it from USA and I'm in Turkey now.
What I ve done: FACTORY RESET and Power button+Volumedown button.. Wipe date. None of them has worked.
What can I do to fix it? Please help me, I need to know what to do and HOW to do.

The only way to fix this is by reflashing the baseband (or full flash, but be careful with that).
But I dont know how to do that. Can you tell me what can I do? Or is there any solutions?

If you want to keep it locked, use full flash with RSD, but make sure you use the EXACT SAME sbf version as the one that's on your phone now.

System Settings, Call Settings and navigate to Mobile Network. You need to make sure you are set to Automatic and not Manual. This will then use your carrier info from the SIM card to select your operator.

It's to easy, don't panic about this, you can flash ALL the radios out there in the internet for the Atrix 4G and see which one does the best performance for you.
You just need to search in xda something about "Atrix radios" and you will fin a lot, try to use the one recommended for you region.
To flash you just need to do the next steps:
1.- Put the zip file on the sd
2.- Reboot into recovery
3.- Select instal zip from sd card
4.- Search for the place where you put the zip file
5.- flash it
And that's all, it may take a little for the radio to be fully functional, but after a while it will work perfectly
Good luck
EDIT: Here is the link for the Atrix radios http://www.multiupload.nl/G8T8IGZF05
Do i need to Unlock the bootloader and root my atrix 4g for flashing the radio?
or
Is flashing the radio possible without rooting and unlocking?
You need an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery to do any kind of flashing.
Rooting is irrelevant.

fido and rogers both got leaks last Wednesday. Download the update put it on an sd and then use recovery to boot into the file. The update is smooth and stable. I got tired of waiting and put it on two devices. If you want the update check the android dev boards

Yes and no. If you root you ruin your warranty however un-rooting is a very simple process. And since you don't need to root to install this update, I think your warranty would still be intact. However I would wait for any warranty disputes until ICS is officially released otherwise Rogers themselves would be confused on how you got to ICS before they did

If you've already unlocked the bootloader, forget about RSDLite. You may accidentally brick your phone. Just flash a Fruitcake via recovery.

All you need is the Cellcom APN.
Do not try and flash a non-ATT SBF to your Atrix. It will not work.
And to answer your question "But where is the danger in RSDlite ?", it's dangerous because if you flash the wrong SBF by accident you can permanently brick your phone. If I were you I would just flash a 2.3.6 Fruitcake via recovery. It's the same thing minus the troublesome bootloader problems.
if you device is at&t manufactured , then you need at&t sbf
if it's from orange manufactured , then i can give you the for the orange sbf
any of those should work with cellcom , but you must match the one for your specific device (as described above)
Thank you and please take a look at this
