The only workaround that I'm aware of that works is to create a blank file called .nomedia and place it in any folders you don't want the media scanner to index.
I had to do this with several games that dumped their artwork and sounds in folders on the internal SD, and it kept them from showing up in Gallery & Media Player.
.nomedia files are handy for game and app images, but not so much for album art -- it removes them from the music library too.
One tip I heard but haven't tried yet -- Load your music, with album art. Fire it up in the music player so you see the art once. Then delete the art using the gallery. Supposedly the music app caches the art so you keep your album art but clean up the gallery. Untested, but worth a shot.

In the case of album art, I can verify that what you say works!
What do you mean create a blank file? Sorry, I don't fully understand how to create a blank file.

How did I add a picture to Google music on my Prime? It was a picture of my girlfriend that was in the photo gallery, I downloaded an audio bible free and somehow set an unrelated picture as the album art. Does anyone know how this happened? I would love to add my own pictures to the album art that I'm missing.
I opened the picture of my girlfriend on my prime and then downloaded the bible from my laptop. and somehow that is the album art.
Adding the picture to the folder where the music file is should be enough. If not, renaming to 'AlbumArt.jpg' should do the trick. Of course only in case you have music in folders, otherwise it is possible to add album art into ID3 tags of MP3 files (use google to find how)
there is an app for that I use an app called cover art downloader. Its free on google market and will download and install missing cover art for your music cd collection. Good luck
So I have over 2600 songs on my phone and the problem I am having now is that some of the album covers are showing up in my Gallery app. Its not all of them just a certain few. Is there any way to remove them from the Gallery app without losing them for the actual music albums?
Also I have a dropbox and profile photos pictures in the Gallery app as well and would like to get rid of those all together.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
clear data to gallery app in the settings -> apps
did this to clear all my pisca albums
Thanks a lot TP! That worked great. now all I need to do is figure out how to hide all there album covers...
On my stock HTC One Sprint, I'm a bit disappointed with my Photo Gallery Application.
Things I like:
- Integration with Picassa (A must for my photos)
- Integration with Drop Box
- Ability to send local files to WIFI Players with HTC utility
Things I dislike:
- The Picassa interface is poor compared to, say, my original Nexus 7 OEM Gallery app.
- Gallery app lacks a 'People' tagging functionality. I tag photos in Picassa, and typically write them to the XMP tags as well. Useful for me to find photos of specific persons quickly.
- No ability to save Picassa photos locally; can't send those photos to WIFI player. Can't use the Picassa photos in Contacts or Wallpapers etc.
Anyone have experiene with alternative Gallery apps which have some of these features? Any way of installing the Nexus 7 Gallery w/out sacrificing WIFI Player capability or overwriting the existing Gallery? I'd love to have both
I use Gallery KK for my OnePlus One phone. When I sync my music it adds all the album pictures to the Gallery. How do I limit the Gallery additions and Google from searching my whole phone for pictures? Maybe another app can do that? If I delete the pictures, does it delete the Album picture in the in the music app, Media Monkey?
