So basically i just got the Xperia Mini Pro, and it said that an update was availible so I updated it and the screen animation(when you shut the screen off) is gone. Before it was like a tv-ish thing but now it's kind off a fade away thing. Is there any way to get the previous one back?
Cheers
Btw: It has the android 2.3.4
Hi, I would also like to know if there's solution for that matter.
Also I've upgraded to newest build and TV-ish animation is gone, not that it's too important but it makes a man happy
Thanks
I noticed the Nexus S has it, hmm...
well, yes, sony has officially removed that CRT animation,
and right now theres nothing we can do except downgrade to FW .42 or wait for ICS (i heard ICS have CRT animation )
Can't some experienced person do something like extract the CRT animation from an older firmware package, and make it so it can be flashed into newer firmware?
Since i'm kind off noob could you explain what the CRT and ICS are?
CRT or cathode reactive tube is a synonym for old "fat" TVs, and ICS is short for ice cream sandwich which is codename for the newest version of Android operating system ;-)
Sent from my ST15i using XDA App
I'm sure that if someone downgraded and then looked at the system files they would find the CRT animation and be able to copy it to aSD card then upgrade and then but it back in the same folder. I can't see the folder structure of the system chaning that much tbh.

Is it possible to make a cyanogen mod rom look like the sony ericsson original rom???
Yes, it's possible. But it is the hard work. Would you do it?
i'm not a developer so i can't do it!
it's a good idea though!
why should someone want to do that? if they like SE then they should stick to SE
I like that beacause i want froyo with sony ericsson original style!!!
+1 for the idea. I also wanna use a newer ROM with the same SE style.

I tried to replace the framework-res.apk, but my phone stuck on the boot animation!
The filenames are not all the same in framework, but with some renaming the original SE files according to cyanogen ones should work.
I have returned to original SE ROM because the cyonagen is soo ugly, stock android is bad for our small screens. The most visible is at top bar where on SE everithing is big and clear (hour, batery stat, wi-fi and other simbols) and on cyonagen bareley you could see something.
Until now I replaced the small and blurry font with Sony fonts. Maybe when 2.3.3 finaly will be bugfree and fully functional I will work on this.
My experience is with cyonagen 7 (2.3.3)

Try swapping images in the framework-res.apk and not the framework-res.apk
Well it is possible to change framework-res.apk but you willcertainly need to swap a ****load of stuff.
Pushing framwork.jarm android-testrunner alot of libs.
In the end the question is will you lose the changes from the newer version an in the end endup with the same old crap again

Since I got my Arc, the blueish theme has annoyed me, so I decided to make a monochrome version.
All black backgrounds, all grayscale frames.
One of few things (that I know of) that still is light blue is the progressbar.
The CRT-off animation is included.

As far as I know and have tested it's black in landscape, yes. But since I just made this yesterday, I may definitely have missed a few things.
Please report back what's not black/gray so I can improve.

Sorry, I forgot to upload SemcGenericUxpRes.apk. Added now.
Some of the pictures are in SemcGenericUxpRes.apk and some in framework-res.apk so both files are needed.

Hallo people,
i have a question about bootanimation. Mine isn't working at all.
Does anybody no how to get it working again? Have all the original files in the right places. May it be that i've deleted something when i was deleting some systemapps and bloatware, does bootanimation needs anything like an app or something? Also i changed the build.prop for showing no bootanimation, but offcourse i turned it back.
I'm on stock KPH, rooted, Coolya kernel, CRT animation enabled if any of this maybe important.
Thnx a lot in advance.

Not yet, and don't think i'm going to do that for just bootanimation.
Hoped it could be easily and quickly done, but if that's not going to happen then i will take this for granted (CRT and everything else is working fine and thats what i wanted)
Is there any way to have the CRT animation back..its way cooler than the animation in 2.3.4..i have search with this method but can't find any that is made for xperia ray..i'm afraid that if i use the other mod that the phone would turn into a bootloop machine or something..is there any way?something i can download?please feel free to comment and help out..

You "moved the whole folder "anim" in framework-res from 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware" from the new version which doesen't even have the old CRT anim to what? replace the same framework?
You'll have to grab it through rootexplorer OR follow AND read the link provided for you and change "config_animateScreenLights" and change the "true" to "false" or corresponding line of text. I'm not sure if SE has the exact same line of text and I doubt it.

SEUS usaully fix the bootlooping..
Haven't decision of this problem? Replace the "framework-res" doesn't help.
We need to find the file that is responsible for the CRT animation and then copy that into the framework.
I can do that if i can find the file that dose the crt animation!
CRT animation is built-in into Android since 2.3 I believe, there is no GIF animation file or something. It's a pity SE disabled that. For example, CRT animation could be enabled/disabled in CM-based ROM-s from the Menu.
Yeah you have to copy framework—res from your 2.3.4 unpack it and locate the anim, change it with notepad from true to false or vice verse. Then repack the framework and paste it with rootexplorer/push it back to system.

You can't get true vanilla without a bootloader unlock, but you can use titanium backup to delete the Sony bloat. That's what I did on my Tablet S, and it also happens to be muuuuuch less laggy. As for the rest of the UI, I know there is an app to change the soft keys (I have never tried it), but for the settings app and the rest of the system there isn't much you can do

I can't confirm that all of it is safe to remove, i just left all the small app stuff, appinstaller.apk, dtcpctrl.apk, all the playstation games (xtab doesn't have these I don't think), mediaplayers.apk, SENinstaller.apk, SENmediator.apk, the ir remote stuff, and the media remote app (You can get rid of this, I just left it because I have a Sony blu-ray player). You can remove any socialife plugins, anything related to socialife, registration app, etc. I also run Nova Launcher to give it that AOSP look, but I haven't checked to see if any of this hampers the stock launcher. Remember to install the recovery backdoor so you can reinstall 4.1.1 if something goes wrong. I did have an issue where titanium backup didn't remove some of the apps, so I had to use a file explorer to delete that crap in /datapp/vendor/vendor0/app/ and /datapp/vendor/vendor1/app/. You might have a slightly different file system because you have a XTS on 4.1.1 and I have an STS on 4.0.3, so be careful

Make sure you use All In One tool and install rescue back-door and then disable update notifications. This will lower the incremental so if you **** your tablet then you can easily install JB again.

No worries. All updates for Sony Tablet S and Xperia Tablet S are done through the Tablet itself. Rescue Back-Door simply changes vendor.prop located in the /vendor folder. It changes the line. ro.update.incremental (or something like that) to before HoneyComb and that is why we refer to it as lowered incremental. If you look at the file name after -ota etc the number is as follows 130516001.zip 13(year) 05(month) 16(day) 001(version), that is the incremental. This is what Sony's recovery looks at when trying to install a zip. So if you have JB installed and do not use back door you CAN NOT flash anything. Whereas you have back door installed you CAN install any zip for your region. i.e R3 > R6, R6A, R6B, JB for Xperia S
