Hey all,
I've been using the ICS passion ROMs and they are great except a snag i hit every time i update.
All of my apps that i moved to SD card disappear. Secure and adsecure in mnt folder get wiped out and that is where the device stores the apps when you hit Move to SD. I thought they would move to .Androidsecure on the sdcard folder but they don't. Any clarification is greatly appreciated

Please help?

Mine did that too I had them backed up on titanium backup luckily so its good for me
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Actually I did 2 things:
1. I backed up in Titanium but I only have a free version so its annoying as hell waiting for 97 apps to install and hit Install on each one.
2. I copied my assecure and secure folders to my external - this is what I used for the last 2 times. I copied those back and all apps were fine. I lost my app data though which Titanium does back up thank God.
So, I've noticed this not only with the ROM updates but also with the Kernel update.
I wonder if its the Recovery doing it???
Can someone confirm you're not having this issue so I can start diving deeper into the root cause:
1. Go to your installed apps.
2. Click on a few apps and hit move to SD
3. Flash ROM
4. The shortcut on the home scree is there and app shows in the installed apps but it has no icon and when trying to execute informs me App not installed.
5. Have to reinstall or restore.
Observations:
/sdcard/.adroid_secure - is empty
/mnt/secure and /mnt/asec - has all "SD card" apps but get wiped out during flash. (no clean options selected not even Dalvik).
Do me a favor. In terminal type
Su [enter]
Busybox df -h [enter]
And post what it says. Need one from fresh flash with nothing moved over, move some apps to SD and then when they aren't installed anymore but still showing in manage apps that they are on SD. So 3 in total.
Sorry for the delayed reply, was on a business trip.
Please clarify the clean install a bit - Do you want me to do a full factory reset?
I'm a bit reluctant to do that since v12 doesn't require any wipes but I'd be glad to do it if you can tell me what you're looking for.
In the meantime here is current dump v11 build 5.

Forgot to mention, more and more users are calling this issue out.
Ok that is fine. Since the above is from v11 and all your apps are are already on App2sd
(.androidsecure), show me what it says once you update to v12.
In theory, they should not be on your app2sd anymore. This is what I want to see with the same code I gave you above. I have a theory and possibly a fix but need to see the output first.
ps: I have see the other thread/questions and am working on it. Pretty sure the symbolic links are being broken but just need to figures out where. Believe it or not the where is more important than the why.
Its odd that you say they are in .androidsecure. If I look in that folder right now with all those apps on SD its empty.

Is it possible that mnt/secure and mnt/sec are not pointing to the SD
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
That is where I am leaning. Think the link is getting broken somehow.
any updates on this?

Still need to see more info once you update to a new version. Don't need to to a full wipe, just need to show the before (which you already posted) and the after where they are no longer there.
Referring to the post above. Are you looking at this folder on your phone through a file explorer or on a PC?
Actually both and you are right pc shows apps and es file explorer doesn't. I'm going to update to 12 tonight

Hi guys,
I have 8GB memory card. I have three partitions (swap=512MB, ext and fat - volume sizes recommended by recovery). I have a lot of software installed. My problem is I had facebook installed. Suddenly newer version appeared so I tried to update. However I have been informed I have insufficient space. So I uninstalled previous version of FB. Didn't help. I uninstalled another app as well but again it didn't help. How can I solve my problem? Thanks!

ok, for now I just uninstalled appz with biggest cache so I was able to update for example FB... Do I need to expand my ext partition then?

maybe a good idea to backup the sd card, format, then create larger partitions?
although I think it is possible to expand the volumes, how safe this is, I don't know

Your problem is that your cache partition is full. Currently your cache partition is the internal one (mtblock4) which is limited to 130M, you should look into a cache2sd solution. I am not sure how to do this on cronos, in Villain there is an update for this.
Try asking in the cronos forums they should be able to help you.
You could also try to wipe the dalvik cache (from the recovery), first boot after this will be slow but it might free up a little space, although I would guess that even if this works its just temporary until it fills up again....
thanks guys for suggestions...
Hi,
Having a look at internal partitions which look like this:
Code:
# busybox df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
[B]tmpfs 209.3M 24.0K 209.3M 0% /dev[/B]
/dev/block/mtdblock1 190.0M 179.1M 10.9M 94% /system
/dev/block/mtdblock9 199.5M 73.1M 126.4M 37% /data
/dev/block/mtdblock3 2.8M 776.0K 2.0M 28% /lgdrm
tmpfs 209.3M 0 209.3M 0% /mnt/asec
/dev/block/mtdblock8 64.0M 1.1M 62.9M 2% /cache
/dev/block/vold/179:1 3.8G 3.3G 462.8M 88% /mnt/sdcard
/dev/block/vold/179:1 3.8G 3.3G 462.8M 88% /mnt/secure/asec
I am slightly confused on this one:
Code:
tmpfs 209.3M 24.0K 209.3M 0% /dev
And this doesn't seem to total up. 190 + 199.5 + 2.8 + 64 = 456.3M
What is this 209.3M ?
Another question: Is there a way to mount /data/dalvik-cache permanently in /cache.
As one can see:
Code:
# busybox du -h /data/dalvik-cache
42.9M /data/dalvik-cache
This is growing with installed apps.
I learnt, a userinit.sh way, But is it possible to do it on the stock rooted ROM ?
i also wish to know the answer to the question.

1. I've installed ICS passion on my phone and am unable to install Google plus.
I keep getting an insufficient space error (see attachment), but all my partitions seem to have a healthy chunk of free space.
Code:
/dev/block/mtdblock2 250.0M 206.6M 43.4M 83% /system
/dev/block/mtdblock3 17.5M 2.3M 15.2M 13% /cache

/dev/block/vold/179:1
12.8G 9.0G 3.8G 70% /mnt/sdcard
I haven't run in to issues installing other apps.
2. I have a large number of apps installed on my phone and as a result ran out of space in /datadata. I moved a few of the larger directoreis to /data/data2 and symlinked the directory to /datadata. Is this the usual way to deal with running out of space in /datadata?
Thanks!
I have noticed in the past that google+ takes A LOT of space for some reason (when I noticed that, it was well over 200MB - more than 2x what you show as available in datadata)
I usually install/restore and then immediately move it to SD when I flash a new rom, although that doesn't really help your current situation.
Not sure why the XDA app won't let me edit my previous post to add a picture, but whatever.
after thinking about this for a while, I think that perhaps the large space requirement was a result of G+ and the automatic picture uploading feature.
I could be wrong, but it does reserve a lot of space over and above what any of my other apps take.

Figured it out. I had a symlink in /datadata for the google+ app to /data. This was tripping up market.
Removing the symlink fixed the issue.
Thanks for helping.
I'm running stock NC5 with SafeStrap 3.72 installed and getting the oddest problem which presents as not enough space to write into the internal SD card (/storage/emulated/0). A bunch of apps start reporting that they have stopped and clearing cache is only a temporary fix. Multiple disk usage tools and commands (Settings->Storage, df, ES File Explorer, DIskUsage) all show gigabytes of free space on the internal memory, and yet, when this problem crops up, I can't do the simplest thing, e.g.,
> cd /storage/emulated/0
> echo x > xyz
(Error: not enough space. I forget the exact message.)
I'm a computer engineer, but not an Android developer, so I've researched and tried a bunch of things such as clearing Dalvik cache, using various commands in DU Speed Booster, etc. but every time it's just temporary.
I've concluded this isn't a space issue, at least not in the internal SD card. I'm guessing it's a space problem elsewhere that manifests itself for some reason as errors trying to write the internal SD card.
I'd be very grateful for some tips on where to look next. Thanks.

I've cleaned caches, restarted phone, removed secure folder, moved all apps to SD card, ran app booster, and still, system data stays the same, at 25GB. Screenshot from DiskUsage shows the used space - internal memory is mislabeled as storage card. Screenshots from device care show other apps at 55G which can't be true - when I open that I see only small apps there.

How can I clean up system data?
Android 10, stock, non-root.
Same problem here, 64 GB storage, around 20 GB for user data. How many space I free up less space I have. I don't want do a hard reset and reconfigure all authentication and bank apps.
Device Xiaomi Mi 9, Android 10, no root.
