Rezound tethering - HTC Rezound

So I have been doing lots of reading and I just wanted to confirm what I think I have learned. I am running a rooted and bootloader unlocked rezound with stock rom. I am runnning wireless tether for root version 2.07. It appears I can only run adhoc which I can handle til I get an ICS rom. But is encryption possible. I an only do access control at the moment. Can I enable adhoc with encryption??

hit menu, go to settings and check enable wifi encryption

doing so making the app start without errors. but the signal is not visible to the laptop. it has to be a app/phone issue because i use adhoc and encryption on a different phone and my laptop has no issue.

No USB mode options after root, and WiFi Tether install?

I rooted my D3, then installed the Wifi tether (wifi_tether_v3_1-beta6.apk - android-wifi-tether - WiFi Tether for Root Users 3.1-beta6 *** BETA *** - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting). while installing this i was met with " This will install over another something.". stupid me, i hit OK. and now when ever i plug the phone into my laptop the USB mode options no longer pop up on the phone. Also, the Wifi tether nor the Wired tether work.
So now im currently stuck in the "Charge Only" mode.
Anyone have any ideas. I went searching for the USB mode menu in the settings, but never found them.
Nadda, Niltch, Nothing?
I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt and think maybe i put this in the wrong place?
Well i'm getting some help over at Droid-forums, but cant post the url with lower than 8 posts...
Can't find your thread @ Droid Forums, but need your answer!

how to connect to my wifi on rooted ssgsII

I have wireless tether on my galaxy s 2 but my tab 10.1 can't even see it when it scans for wireless networks. I've tried rebooting the device and even tried to add it manually but to no avail.

You need a custom ROM because ad-hoc isn't built into the stock ROM. I'm 99% galaxy task can do ad-hoc.
start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
use ODIN to get Clockwork Recovery on your tab
Then don't worry about the "rooting" step, just flash it (from within the CWM recovery) with the newest galaxy task (USE THE FULL ROM, NOT THE UPDATE).
You should not need to root that device....
go to settings, wireless networks, tethering and portable hotspot, turn on Mobile AP. Set a SSID and password for kicks and giggles.
This was on my Vibrant and SGS4G, would assume it is on your phone too.
Yeah I am on galaxy task and can detect my x10 mini as a hotspot with barnacle. Just do what the guys above say, it should work fine

Wireless tether wont work...

So I was having issues with my phone and decided to start from scratch... I put it back to stock and then rooted it and installed wireless tether. I tried version 3.1 beta 14, 2.0.8 pre1 and 2.0.7 and neither of them worked. I start it up, get it running and when my laptop tried to connect, an error message pops up that says 'Windows was unable to connect.'
My next step was to install a new ROM. I installed MOF 2.3.5.ish from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648297 - I get the same error as before.
The next step was to try a different tether app. I was able to use EasyTether and it worked using USB which is one step closer, but the wireless still doesn't work. When I try to do wireless, it gives me the message below:
Hotspot/Tethering Error
Unable to connect to data network; turning off Hotspot/Tethering. You may not be subscribed to the Hotspot service; please contact your phone company.
So am I stuck having to use USB to tether or can someone help? Let me know if you need any more info. Thank you.

Try FoxFi. Can't get it via Google Play because of the Sprint block but can download the apk from the website.
To get Wireless Tether for Root to work did you follow the correct procedure for the Photon (such as changing the settings, disabling/enabling data, etc.)?

I'll try FoxFi.
What settings need to be changed?
FoxFi works. Thank you for the suggestion.
I am still curious as to why the other apps don't work though.

Typically for Wireless Tether for Root app need to change device to Samsung Galaxy S & then setup method to Netd(master). Depending on the device you are wanting to connect the channel may need to be changed as well. Also, probably get IP errors so to connect in infrastructure.......kill your data connection...start tethering...restore data connection.
Other apps are easier. According to others Open Garden Wifi tether app works as well. FoxFi for me has been the easiest and connects my tablet without issue.
i think it has to do with the 2.3.5 update.
it used to work for me but no longer does and i believe sprint may have asked motorolla to close the loop hole.

Foxfi is easier to use then wifi tehter... im not sure about performance but very straight forward

I have it, and got it from the market, where I can still get it, but it doesn't run - I get the error mentioned above.
I also recently started getting the OP error. Everything was fine until I flashed 2.3.5.ish. I will try flashing back to stock and see... I think its the 2.3.5.

[Q] Device can't detect Connectify hotspot after Lollipop upgrade

Hello,
I own a Moto G (1st generation), running on Android 5.0.2, stock firmware (LXB22.46-28), bootloader locked and unrooted. When I switch on Connectify-me on my laptop to create a Wifi hotspot, my phone is unable to detect it. It doesn't show up on the Wifi connections list. Two other Wifi connections do show up, which also show up on my laptop. My phone was working fine with Connectify on the previous android version. Alternatives like Virtual Router, etc. are not working. I have not been able to check if my phone has been able to connect to other Wifi connections after the Lollipop upgrade.
What can I do?

Missing tethering options?

I recently noticed that my wifi only z4 tab is missing the portable hotspot/tethering menu from the more... menu inside settings (it's completley gone not just disabled). I tried the fxp aosp rom and it has the options for tethering but nfc and screen rotation don't work on that rom + there is no recovery for it that i could find (androplus one wouldn't boot into recovery so i guess its just for the stock rom). Is this something nobody has on the z4 tab or is something wrong with my device (the option still wasn't there after reflashing a factory rom with flashtool)? Does anyone know a way to enable at least the USB tethering as i need that the most or is there a recovery that works with the fxp rom?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is becoming more and more annoying working with the small screen of a phone (i use the usb tethering to make the device act as a display for a Raspberry PI with VNC).
Afaik wireless tethering / portable hotspot is only possible with the LTE version. It's logical too, on your phone you can only wirelessly tether your data connection, not another WiFi network.
I don't know what exactly you want to do with USB tethering. Do note that you might need to use the 'detect USB' function for USB stuff to work. By default the USB port is not checking for attached devices, because of the waterproofness.

Ah okay... That's a shame... but thank you for telling me anyway, its the first device i have that had the option missing (2013 n7 WiFi only has it and its useful to connect the tab to a WiFi and tether with USB to a computer) so i didn't really know what to think of it Maybe any idea on how to get the androplus recovery or any custom recovery working with the fxp aosp rom? If there is a way I could at least flash gapps and supersu.

I can only guess based on what I've read, but I suggest checking the AndroPlus kernel thread or starting a new one with this specific question.
