Phone stopped working
Hi guys my phone stopped working. what happened is I coppied home.apk first before the framework-res.apk. when i deleted the original framework i got error message that applications needs to force close and then my screen went blank and when I power on the phone it goes to a loop on the sonyericsson logo. I used root explorer. I probably need to reprogram the phone. should I copy framework first before anything else. what do i need to do to copy framework? should i delete the original then copy the new framework from sdcard and change permission.. please help. thanks!

Next time use a CWM method, its alot easier.
If you dont want to use CWM just overwrite home&framwork no need delete them. (and make a backup of the stock one)
for now i think you need to flash a new rom.

11500+ downloads since ICS v1 - Thank You !!!
The original Xperia GX (v4) version is: com.sonyericsson.home - 4.0.3.A.0.14, see img (thanks Sony developers):
The original Xperia Mini (v3) version is: com.sonyericsson.home - 3.1.A.0.14, see img (thanks Sony developers):

I have made some tweaks (see third post):

All Preferences:
Instructions for manual installation on Xperia ICS firmware devices:
TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK !!
Clearing predefined system settings xml´s folder for Home.apk:
- Check for this path in your /system: /system/etc/customization/settings/com/sonyericsson/home
- If the /home folder is there, just delete it (only /home) !!!
Now install:
1 - Download attached v4.1_ICS_MultiResolution_Xperia_GX_Home.apk and put it on your sdcard
1.1 - Rename it to Home.apk
2 - Download attached v4.1_ICS_HomeAdd.apk and put it on your sdcard
2.1 - Rename it to HomeAdd.apk
3 - Download attached v4.1_ICS_HomePreferences.apk and put it on your sdcard
3.1 - Rename it to HomePreferences.apk
4 - Using Root Explorer copy all three files to /system/ (mount /system as R/W)
5 - Change all three files permissions to rw-r--r-- like img:
6 - Long press on Home.apk and select Move
6.1 - Paste Home.apk on /system/app/ (replace if asked)
7 - Long press on HomeAdd.apk and select Move
7.1 - Paste HomeAdd.apk on /system/app/ (replace if asked)
8 - Long press on HomePreferences.apk and select Move
8.1 - Paste HomePreferences.apk on /system/app/ (replace if asked)
9 - Reboot you phone
Important (after reboot)
10 - Go to "Config >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> All", tap on "Xperia Home" and select "Clear Data" (you need to rearrange your widgets)
VERY IMPORTANT
Home.apk, HomeAdd.apk and HomePreferences.apk work together and they should be in the /system/app folder!!
Or simple flash attached v3 or v4.1 ???_Home_Update.zip on recovery with CWM ! (see second post)
For v3 Mini layout, rename and install:
AddWidget.apk
Home.apk
HomePreferences.apk
To do:
- Xperia TX based home launcher for Multi-Resolution (Dock)
- Xperia Tipo based home launcher for MDPI and LDPI (Corners)

I am using this mod.It works great but sometime the icons are reloaded while going back to home.Is there any solution for this? There wasn't any problem when using xperia s home launcher only from xperia s v2 pack.Is this due to "HomePreferences.apk" as i notice everytime we go to home preference the icons are reloaded.I know it's normal to refresh home screen when we use home preference as there might be some changes but home luncher refreshes sometimes even if we are not using home preference.Anyone got soultion to this?

that's probably because you haven't supercharged your rom.
your device RAM is probably full (or almost full, to be precise) before that happened. do you have a lot of apps installed and running in background? because if you do, the home app will be killed when the RAM is full, and it will be reloaded to the RAM everytime you're going back to homescreen after opening some apps.
try v6 supercharger here.
hope this helps
thilinac, i'm trying the mod now. gonna report soon should something goes wrong.

Installation files (v2 with brygse correction; thanx!):
http://www11.zippyshare.com/v/81347114/file.html
Install instructions:
put SemcClock.apk, Settings.apk, SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk to /system folder and change permission to 644 (rw-r--r--) on all of them. Then move SemcClock.apk, Settings.apk and SystemUI.apk to /system/app folder and framework-res.apk to /system/framework folder. Once you have finished reboot the phone and enjoy in theme
Do you hate that we cant change alarm ringtone? Yes, don't worry! I change the default alarm ringtone directly in SemcClock.apk file together with stock blurred wallpapers
Note: it works for locked and unlocked bootloader devices. You only need to have ROOT access!
A lot of icons are borrowed from other ROM-s so full credit for them goes to their makers!
Nice work! Thanks!

Great job! Thank you very much! :good:
But there is a small note: the player control buttons on the lock screen.
Take these files, and paste into your framework-res.apk as is. It will be like here.
White Magic?!
Excuse me, but why do you speak about white magic, your theme almost as much dark as stock. To fully use WM it must be as much light as possible.

Nice work. I'll try tommorrow on my Xperia P.
2 questions
1. Is in toggle bar a button for 2G/3G network mode? Is very usefull for me.
2. Can you do this patch to be flashable? From CWM (recovery mode). It's better to do like that because in case that something is not work is easy to go back if you post a stock patch too. I done in past on other xperia trought root explorer and after I finished to move the files in the specified folder, in case of something is wrong I'm stuck in FC loops and can't restore the old files to fix the problem.
Pls tell me which theme s that is shown in the screenshots??

- Make sure system is mounted as rw. I dont use es file explorer. So I dont know where to change it in es file explorer.
- Make sure es file explorer has root permissions and that you haven't denied it when superSU asks
- Make sure you have enough free space in /system partition for the apk

I am not sure about this but maybe you guys require some of the framework files from ThilinaC's port. Like I first tried ThilinaC port and then as the latest v3.5 doesnt work for mdpi I came here and installed the launcher in this thread. So if you don't mind giving it a try then first flash ThilinaC's v3.5 (I tried the hdpi 5x4 version which would give you a 3x3 launcher) then move the launcher on this thread and overwrite it over the home from ThilinaC's port.
ThilinaC's thread

No. Flash ThilinaC launcher 1st. That itself would copy his home.apk into ur system/app. Then goto /system/app and delete that home.apk. Then copy the home.apk in this thread to system/app and set permissions and reboot. Make sure you always have atleast one launcher instlled in ur phone while you do all this maybe trebuchet or apex launcher.

How do we go back to the stock launcher?

you just push your backed up launcher to /system/app and replace the current one. and if you haven't backed it up, you just grieve. or ask somebody to upload you the stock one from their phone.

[TUT] Build your own XPERIA S Advanced Lockscreen
All files in a zip ready to build XPERIA S Advanced Lockscreen for all CM7 LDPI ROM: http://www.mediafire.com/?a49r624r5892ynz
You can use these files to mod your own framework.res.apk.
First head over to my thread her [SCHOOL] How to start to become a dev, and download X10MP_essentials_v3.zip and set up framework. Just follow my instructions there.
When all done, you will have a folder like this:
Now copy the framework-res.apk file from your ROM to the APK Tool folder (overwrite the exsisting file).
Then open Command Prompt (CMD) and type in this command
Code:
apktool d framework-res.apk
This will decompile framework-res.apk.
After the decompile, you will have a new folder named framework-res.
Now copy PNGs and XMLs from the Build package to the folder with the decompiled framework-res.
Remember to manually edit ids.xml.
When done type in this command in the Command Prompt:
Code:
apktool b framework-res
This will recompile everything back into a new framework-res.apk, placed in the dist folder.
Final step is to copy the folder META-INF and the file AndroidManifest.xml from original framework-res.apk to the modded one.
Open the original and modded framework-res.apk in two WinRAR (or alike), and drag and drop the folder and the file from original to modded.
make sure you select Store (uncompressed).
That is it. Now you got your own modded framework-res.apk, ready to use in your ROM. You do not need to sign the apk or copy any other files into the apk.
You can use this flashable zip to make your own flash: Framework-flasher.zip
To move your new framework-res.apk onto the zip, use File Explorer (do not unzip/rezip).
From File Explorer just drag and drop framework-res.apk into the framework folder in the zip (overwriting exsisting file).
Happy modding
Good job! what about minicm7?

--- Data usage is in list but nothing happens when you click. To use that mod you have to add your own/favourite data usage app from market or web.
+Quick Panel shortcut included..
You can contact me for your every questions.
[GUIDE] Adding a data usage app to ' Data usage '
-Download your favourite app from market or web and install it to phone.
-After installation run Root Exp. or your other app to reach phone's /data/app
- Im giving an example for a free market app 3G Watchdog with Root Exp( not advertising here !) Find apk in data/app and click it, select View, click AndroidManifest.xml
- Take a look to picture.
!! We need target package of app and launcher main activity path.
So manifest package is our android:targetPackage and when we check main action category Launcher! in activity, name is our android:targetClass
- In here .Main means directly read class from 'net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog' but we must write long path for our xml..
-Decompile Settings.apk and go to res/xml/settings.xml
-find data usage line;
<com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen
android:id="@id/data_usage_settings"
android:title="@string/settings_ics_data"
settings:icon="@drawable/ic_settings_data_usage" />
Click to collapse
and change to ;
<com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen android:id="@id/data_usage_settings" android:title="@string/settings_ics_data" settings:icon="@drawable/ic_settings_data_usage" >
<intent android:targetPackage="net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog" android:targetClass="net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog.Main" />
</com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen>
Click to collapse
-Save and compile apk.
---With same way you can add your another apps to 'Extra Mods' section or whereever you want..
Good work keep up
