Model: GT-I9100
Kernel: 3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913
Android Version: 4.0.3
Build Number: IML74K.XWLP7
This is my phone information and I'm trying to root with the latest odin3 and s2root and using the following kernels
Kernel_I9100XWLP7_INSECURE and Kernel_I9100XWLP7
I can install the insecure kernel ok and phone reboots fine. When I run s2root it tells me I'm not connected with a Samsung device. Any suggestions?

Root your phone with this method: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
You don't need to flash any kernel to ROOT your phone

Hello there, I've rooted my phone in the past using method 2c in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081, but since then I've flashed a kernel with clockwordmod and later updated to Android 4.12, which removed root. So now I'm just wondering what the most reliable rooting method is for the following specs:
Model number: SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: I777UCMD8
Kernel version: 3.0.31-1154545-user [email protected] #3

1. I have a UK Samsung Galaxy S2
Model Number: GT-i9100
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: i9100XXMS2
Kernel Version: 3.0.31 – 1211311

SMP PREEMPT Thu May 16 10:05:20
KST 2013
Build Number: JZ054K.i9100XWLSW
2. I lost root after OTA update from Android version 2.3.4
3. I am ready to root using Framaroot-1.6.1.apk on my device.
4. I am now looking for direction to dowload suitable ClockworkMod apk
to install Superuser or SuperSU from my device sdcard.
Thanks.
Don't bother with any of the above...search on XDA for PhilZ kernel thread. Download the kernel that matches your build number (zip version) and flash it in the stock recovery......it does everything you want in one go

Any specific thread(s) you would recommend as relevant to my specified requests would be very helpful on my starting blocks,
Thank you Keithross39.
No problems.....it seems that @Jeetu has supplied the information you need. ...
Just make sure you download the zip file and not the tar.....
And the usual cautionary note......
Thouroughly read the first post before you start flashing anything.....
