Model: GT-I9100
Kernel: 3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913
Android Version: 4.0.3
Build Number: IML74K.XWLP7
This is my phone information and I'm trying to root with the latest odin3 and s2root and using the following kernels
Kernel_I9100XWLP7_INSECURE and Kernel_I9100XWLP7
I can install the insecure kernel ok and phone reboots fine. When I run s2root it tells me I'm not connected with a Samsung device. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,
My phone details:
Samsung Galaxy S2
Model GT-I9100G
Android Version 2.3.6
Build: gingerbread.XWKJ2
Kernel 2.6.35.7
I tried to root my phone before using odin 1.85 but guess I flashed the wrong kernel and got stuck in boot loop. I am not sure if I can root it by Doomlord rooting kit has anyone tried it on the "G" make?
Is there any other way to root because I have been searching a lot and most people could not root it by flashing kernels?

The three kernels are for :
XXLA1
JPKK1

Not sure if to risk using one of them to flash XWKJ2 will work.

Learn how to use Odin
get ROM from checkfus downloader or sammobile.com
Pick lp7 ROM skip lp9.
You can flash any ROM if you got i9100, say UK lp7.
Flash using Odin.

Doesn't matter were you are...
Get a whole package and flash.
Lp7 UK ics
Dxlp9 Singapore ics
Both stock roms work fine. Personally I say go for lp7 UK.
After that learn how to use cfroot kernel to get root access.

Thanks for that.
Can you give me that link for lp7.
I salute you.

That is a very good ROM you've chosen. Have you got root? If not search around the Q & A there's loads of guides for it. Also you're on v 4.0.4 which has the emmc brick bug so flash a siyah or dorimanx kernel asap

Thanks for reply i have a couple of questions:
There is written this in about my phone:
Baseband: I9100XXLQ6
Buildnumber: IMM76D.XWLPY
What does that mean? Cuz some roms have a different numbers like XWLS8. Can i still use it??
On Sammobiles website there is written different numbers like i mentioned below. Can i still use it without breaking my device?

Yes. That number is simply the build number of the rom.
