[Q] MAP Profile in CM7 Droid X2 - Motorola Droid X2

First off, I LOVE CM7 on my DX2. Having very few concerns with it. Seems to be very stable.
I've read several other threads on the bluetooth MAP profile being implemented for CM7 on the DX2. All other threads talk about the Ford Sync/My Touch systems.
I was wanting to try it on a Toyota Entune equipped vehicle. I work for Toyota and would be very willing to alpha/beta test a ROM that supports this MAP (Messaging Access Profile) feature.
Does anyone know if CM7 has this support or is it on the horizon?
Thanks in advance!

Remote Control Protocol to control from External Device?

Was talking with Pioneer regarding their AVIC series as well as others but mainly about using an Android phone to control Pandora just like they allow the iPhone too. This is what they asked me:
Do the Android phones support the remote control protocol that is required to control the phone from an external unit? That remote protocol is why the AVIC-X920BT works with the iPhone through PandoraLink.

Im trying to get Pioneer to come out with an Android app to control the phone(or at least Pandora) from the headunit
Not sure if the Galaxy S/Vibrant comes is compatible or if another Android platform is? I can play and pause Pandora from my X920BT head unit through Bluetooth but would rather control everything from the headunit like most people can that have an Iphone and a Pioneer Head Unit with Pandora Link.
It sounds like you're thinking of AVRCP, which is a standard BT profile. There are different versions of it that reveal different capabilities.
1.0 covers basic play/pause/stop. 1.3 adds the ability to see what the current status is (playing, paused or stopped), as well as metadata (such as artist, album and track information). 1.4 adds even more features, such as the ability to control multiple devices, browse through the devices' metadata including a "now playing" playlist, and even basic search abilities.
However, what you are talking about seems to be the reverse of what most people want with their handsets and BT. I'm not certain if AVRCP support is inherently bidirectional. However, now that there is a name to what you are looking for, perhaps someone can steer you in the right direction.
(And, BTW, this really ought to be moved to Vibrant Q&A, since this really has nothing to do with development.)
Thanks, can a mod move this thread for me? Greatly appreciated
I am with you on this.....

I also have a X920BT and would certainly LOVE to see the Android interface working. Shout if you do need help. But it seems like you made more progress than me. I contacted them about three months ago and it does not seem like they were very interested in talking with me. You are one step ahead.
Maybe if we can get more Andoid/X920BT users to pole them for attention, they may do something about it....
Good work!
Heres the email I got from Pioneer:
Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
Unfortunately as of right now we have not received any information about adding support for the Android operating system. But with the Droid phones becoming extremely popular and more and more people asking for it could just be a matter of time before we issue some update to add that feature.
Thank You,

[Compatibility List] Bluetooth HID/IME for Fascinate.

Update: I am now going to be updating this thread with Roms that work with the WiiMoteController app and other HID support. If you have any extra info, please either post or PM me.
It seems that these are mostly roms built from the ground up, ones with 99% of the samsung crap removed. Here's to hoping for a nice BT stack!
Rom Compatibility List

[ROM] Vanilla FroYo AOSP v0.8.1P -Works with WiiMote IME
[ROM][ALPHA] MIUI V3 -Works with WiiMote IME

Original Post:
I was wondering with EB01, whether HID input was supported. I really want to use a bluetooth controller with my phone
Anyone know of a way to get it working?
I noticed that I was able to connect to other phones using bluetooth after EB01, maybe it'll work with a controller too.
no, HID doesn't work yet. Regular android doesn't support it, but CM6 and CM7 do, so once kaos gets his builds working with bluetooth, we'll finally have or HID support.
wrong forum btw
my droid x would pair with a wii remote stock
I had a thought, the Galaxy Tab has Bluetooth HID support on it. Can that be ported to our Fascinate?
Bump for great justice, anyone with a clue feel like looking into this?
There's not much to do beside wait for punkkaos unless you want to help him port CM7. I've been wanting this too, so maybe if I ever get some time I might play around with the cyanogenmod source. But I have no experience writing operating systems so don't expect anything from me.
I have successfully paired and used my wiimote with my fascinate on jt's aosp using the WiiMoteController app in the market eventhough the post says bluetooth is borked. So idk what's up with that.

paired but does it connect?
I've paired my BT HID keyboard with most ROMS I've tried, but i have never connected, and never been able to use it yet. Punk Kaos is the only one i know who is working on a solution.
I will have to try pairing my wii remote than, I'll let you know results.
Update : Didn't work on JT's Superclean EB01.
I have a Wiimote working on jamezelle's MIUI, so I guess that means it works.

Oh nice! I didn't realize wiimote works on AOSP but I guess the main thing that's broken for that is bluetooth headsets? Now I need to find my bluetooth keyboard and maybe get another wiimote just for gaming. Kind of glad the bluetooth game gripper flopped, I can just get another wiimote although the PS3 controller would imo be better for emulators.
I didn't think of that, I'm going to look for an app for it

For me it won't even turn on bluetooth on vanilla aosp 0.8.1. Did you just enable it in settings?
@newtype: superclean is not an aosp rom so it still has Samsung's bluetooth stack, meaning it won't work.
i have the apple wireless keyboard working on jamzelle's MIUI v4 rom!

EVO 3D and Ford Sync (Text to Speech)

I just paired my new EVO 3D with my Ford Sync system in my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, when I try to use the Text to Speech feature it tells me this feature is not supported on my phone.
Does the EVO 3D in all its glory really not have this capability, my EVO 4G didn't work and I just figured since it was older and didn't have the latest blue-tooth, but now I have the top of the line phone and get the same issue.

Its not HTC, its is ford sync. Ford has to update the software to be perfectly compatible with this feature. I have a 2010 ford focus with sync. I have tried a blackberry, a feature phone, the htc hero, evo and now the evo 3d. None of them work....and the sync website have very few phones listed to work with this feature.
I'm not able to test this until later tonight since I'm at work but someone posted this on the official sync message board and says it works, you just need to turn it on if you want to give it a try.
Go to Bluetooth, Advanced Settings and Enable Message access.
yep good ole Ford.

Really? I will be sure to try it out after work today then. Would be awesome if it worked.

Ok, I called Sprint, HTC and Ford.
Ford told me no HTC Phones Support Text to Speech. And not all Carriers Do.
Sprint told me they support it.
HTC told me they had no clue what I was talking about but sounded like a Ford Issue.
Ok as another update. According to this page the EVO 3d supports MAP, so I'm seriously thinking its a Ford Issue now. - http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo3d-sprint/help/bluetooth
Which Bluetooth profiles and functions does the phone support? close
The phone supports the following Bluetooth Profiles: A2DP, FTP, OPP, PBAP, AVRCP, GAP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, SPP and SDAP profiles, as well as other standard profiles.

Ever get this figured out? I get an error that my phone isn't supported yet it sure is listed as supported on the ford site.
I work for Ford UK and I can tell you Ford Sync is windows based.... It is only fully compatible with the Nokia windows phones. Why ford choose to not make the system fully compatible with android, seeing as its the biggest market share, is beyond me.
Even the iPhone is not compatible, most handsets you can call and stream music, that's it.

You answered your own question with the first sentence. Sync is a Microsoft product. They're playing the same games they, and Apple, have always played. They'll do their best to support THEIR product, and just enough for the others to hope folks think they're "OK."

[Q] Tablet as handsfree (HFP 1.6)?

Does Android 4.1 allow a device to serve as a Hands-Free Profile (HFP) device? Similar to the way many newer cars come with integrated Bluetooth/HFP, I would like to use my tablet (Nexus 7) as a front-end for my phone. When an incoming call comes in, the phone should relay the call over Bluetooth to the tablet; it should also allow the tablet to make outgoing calls via Bluetooth over the phone's network.
Please note that I am not interested in solutions such as GrooveIP, Talkatone, and SIPDroid. I am specifically looking for Bluetooth HFP.
I've done quite a bit of searching but have not seen an app that does this. I wouldn't mind looking into developing such a product - but I first wanted to know if the HSP 1.6 host API was available in Android 4.1. I've seen resources stating it was available in ICS 4.0, but I believe this is to allow Android devices to connect to third-party HSP devices - I'm looking to do the opposite (i.e. have the Android device serve as the HSP host).
i am also curious about this.

Me too
For those of us that plans to install a Android tablet in the car for music etc. this would be tha last part to make it a complete in-car device.
I am another curious one about this. The only devices I know of for sure that can do this are the 3.6 and 4.2 samsung galaxy players. Unfortunately, I have the 4.0 galaxy player, that doesn't support it. The galaxy players run gb, not jb, btw.

Did anybody found a solution, and trying to add this feature to my android app.

From what I can gather:
* Bluetooth defines HFP to have two roles: the Audio Gateway (AG) role and the Hands-Free (HF) role.
* Android doesn't natively support the HF role.
I too am interested in exactly what you are describing -- would like to use a tablet as the infotainment hub of a vehicle. I would happy to be a part of or organize a bounty to support development of such a capability in CM10.
-jd
Someone custom-implemented the needed Bluetooth role
Looks like some Android device has custom implementations of both A2DP sink role and hands free unit role. I can't post links yet. Google this:

any leads if this is available on android yet? (Hands free profile)
There's some development about this but I'm not sure it's possible yet.
have a look at the links here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions...a-receiver-for-a2dp-profile/28892944#28892944
I want, too
to use android device as hands free

[Q] MeanROM AVRCP 1.3+ (Bluetooth Track Info)

Couldn't post in the MeanROM thread so I thought I would do it here..
I see some comms on the possibility of adding AVRCP 1.3 or better toMeanROM but no confirmation on it being done and it isn't in the feature list. With HTC using their own bluetooth stack I expect the process is a bit different than others but from an API perspective I'm hoping bluez can slot in.
Any word on the possibility? I'd be happy to toss some funds out for a bounty if someone can pull it off.
