I don't think I've ever bought a phone upon it's release date. Last time I bought from VZW was in my pre-Eris days when I had an LG VX8700 (still my fav non-smart-phone).
Anyway, in anticipation of this TBolt launch, where would you guys expect to see the best pricing? I don't know if the corporate stores, Amazon or Best Buy, or VZW online or a satellite kiosk traditionally have the best pricing/rebates, etc.>
Just looking for the most bang for my buck I guess.
I do find it ridiculous that they've not announced pricing. If they are "coming soon" they have to know this crap.
if your looking for online then go for Wirefly if your also getting a new contract( i wouldnt but thats me)
of if your looking for full price either amazon or bestbuy. i suspect it will be sold out quick so bestbuy's preorder would make sure you get dibs

Yeah, I'll be doing a new contract, NO way in hellz I'm going to pay full retail for the bugger.
I wonder if BB will let me in on their "buy back" program for free if I pre-order this week. I guess that new service is free this week only. ?
I will find out.

Im paying full $600+
id say Wirefly as they give a ridiculous discount. but dont break their contract or you will be paying out the ass to them
Been with VZW since '98, I doubt I'll jump ship in the next 24 months. I just need to make sure that whatever I do w/the phone it does NOT affect my monthly pricing (I've got that great 69.99 plan for unlimited text, data, 450 minutes and 5 friends and family #'s).
Wirefly is good on some phones, but Amazon is sometimes better with their discounts.
I will be adding two of these to an existing plan, and porting numbers over from ATT, so I think I will see who offers the best deal. Including calling VZW directly and pitching them whatever lowest price I find online.
ATT's sales/retention has always matched Amazon prices for me in the past and without the pesky secondary ETF to worry about.

Its probably grandfathered in from long ago. Much like ATT will let you keep an existing unlimited data plan, but they no longer offer it to new customers.

It was a special pricing plan but it ended on 1/31. You had to be "invited" by VZW to get it -or- had to call in to customer service and ask REAL nice about their loyalty program.
My contract was due to be up this year, so I think that's how I got it.
hey guys. my Evo died about two weeks ago. i will tell you they have been two very hard weeks.
i've decided rather than buy another Evo, that i'll suffer with a POS samsung phone from the dark ages and wait for an Evo 3D.
I have a few questions for you guys:
I'm not a Sprint customer nor have I ever been. what's the process to get a Sprint account? if you have mediocre/bad credit, can you still open a new account? Is there a fee you pay in that case? or do they outright deny you an account? if you pay a fee, how much? if i want two phone lines in that account, twice the fee?
regarding the phone, the $199 is an upgrade price? does that mean if i come on to Sprint now that's not the price I get for the phone?
provided all the above goes well and I can open an account AND get two Evo 3Ds...what's the best price I can expect on the unlimited data plans? based on the Sprint website it's $(70 + 10) x 2 = $160? how much are the "taxes, fees, and surcharges" that they convieniently don't include in that price? is there a student plant/discount?
seems expensive! i'm paying $90 for two lines on MetroPCS right now with everything except slow data speeds...
thank you for your answers guys. I really want the Evo 3D, and having crippled the Evo 4G on MetroPCS for nearly a year, I'm really hoping I can let the Evo 3D work like it's meant to!

You could pay anywhere between 0-400 of 500 dollers for a deposit and yes if you came is get the EVO 3d for 199$ also your bill would be like 160 with insurance I know that seems like a lot a month bot compaired to vzw tmo or ATT its cheap for smart phones
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
My guess is most u will prolly pay is 200 for a deposit unless ur credit is really bad
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
As far as bad credit it is a case by case scenario. usually if you have bad credit they put a spending cap on you. So getting 2 3d's might be hard if they do that. If your credit is bad enough they might deny you BUT i have never heard of this happening. The upgrade price is also the new line price so the phone will be $199 with new activation.
As far as a plan i recommend the 129.99 family plan. with the 10 dollar add on for both 3d's it is only $150. Discounts are available but you will have to check with your school / employer for the percentage off they get you. I know if you have a credit union account you can get %10. But like i said you have to check.
Hope this helps.
My credit is pretty bad and I didn't have to pay any thing down. I do have a spending cap of $150, but since it's only me and my bill has been $86, I have no reason to worry about it. I di have to pay the $35 activation fee on my 1st bill.
Fees for me have been about $16 total on the 69.99 plan. I plan on paying about $100 a month when I get the E3D.
The only reason keeping me from switching my phone over to Metro is the really slow data connection. I was playing on a phone on Metro and the data speed was about 1/3 of what I am getting on 3G
If you want to tether off your phone, which I do when I'm not at home, Sprint has unlimited data. This by far keeps me on Sprint more than anything else. No other carrier offers "truly unlimited data".
Don't forget there is a $125.00 credit if you are coming over from another carrier. It is supposed to expire the day before the Evo3d is released but I have read about people that asked Sprint to extend it for them and they did.
Look into that. Im not sure if it's $125 per phone number or per account. Worth calling about.
Edit, here it is:
http://www.sprint.com/landings/portcredit/?ECID=vanity:switchtosprint
Again, it expires 6/23, but call and ask them about it and they more than likely will allow you the credit. It is only one more day.
working at sprint I never saw a deposit over $150
Sprint is extremely Lax on there credit unless they have changed.
unless you have terrible credit you'll most likely need no deposit.
new line/fully eligible upgrade prices are the same
so if its 199 after rebates you pay 199, and a 36$ activation fee that gets put on your first bill.
take a look at trading in your old device and talk to them about the carrier transfer credit.
This was my scenario as well. I don't have the best credit, in fact it's pretty damn ****ty. Today I was approved for 5 lines, no deposit, and no spending limit. And that's just me, no co-signers or anything. I was even given an account number so when I go back on the 24th, I won't have to do the process over. So OP, I'd say you're in good shape.
I started this thread a while back, you might be able to get one of these discounts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006791
thanks for the information and definitely thanks for the info on the student discount. both my wife and I qualify (she's a grad student, i'm a law student) and that 23% off brings the price down a lot, much closer to what i'm paying now
I work for Sprint, if you have a mediocre credit score you'll probably pay $50 for deposit then if you have a bad credit score you might pay $100 and it's for each line. You'll get the same discount on phones as what others are getting and you will get a balance limit probably $150 to $200. If you port in to Sprint from a different carrier you will get $125 credit and it is for each line. But you will get it probably after 3 or 4 months after your activation and it will automatically apply on your bill. This promo is up until june 26 only.
The family plan is the way to go. If you want to order online you could do the EPRP plan for $109.99 for 1600 minutes shared and $10 extra per line for smartphones coming out to $129.99. I know the 23% student credits that were mentioned don't discount the $10 fee or any additional lines. On the EPRP family plan the 3rd line and up is $15 vs $20.
I got mine on Oct 16 for $259.99 with $50 rebate (yet to be received). Tomorrow only sale at TMO for all their phones. Amaze $199.99 - $150 MIR = $49.99..

Wished you had waited to get yours? I personally don't have regrets for getting it last month - it's a great smartphone.

This is a deal only with a new contract under the "Value" plan.
You basically put down 199.99 for the phone get 150 MIR
and then pay 20 dollars a month for 20 months.
Bringing the total to 450 for the phone. The deal comes from the MIR.
But like I said, requires new contract under the value plan.
I think it's cheaper to get it through a classic plan but you end up paying more for the length of the contract.
Haven't crunched all the numbers myself, but there you have it.
And I am getting this deal tomorrow.
It is actually a very good deal.
Under a 2 line family plan, this deal with a value plan would save you about $600 over a 2 year period versus the classic plan.
Classic plan
$140 x 24 months
$260 x 2 phones
=$3,880
value plan
$100 x 24 months
$50 x 2 phones
$20 monthly payment per phone x 2 phones x 20 months
= $3,300
But it isn't really a deal for the phone because you're paying 450 for the phone, people might misinterpret and think it's 50 only

Well his math is right. I worked it out myself and you save 290 per line.
So grand total you save 580.
It's a good deal in the long run even if you THINK you pay more for the phone
you pay less in the long run.
Anyway I picked up this deal today, no regrets.
My parents were able to get the Amaze for 199 with the value plan. The phone was 599 and they received a 250 discount with the 150 mail in rebate but they had to sign up on the 59.99 value plan. There are no activation fees or monthly equipment installments. At the end of the day, I think that was the best deal I had seen on the Amaze yet.
I am on month 16 of 24 so I could not take advantage of this but I would have!

Nice find! I didn't know amazon had a wireless thing lol
Amazon has had some amazing deals on phones of late. at one point they had almost every single smartphone except the iPhone for just a penny. of course, this was on a new 2 year, but still some smoking deals to be had.
I just got my Amaze through retentions for around $50 I think. not sure exactly, they said it will be $81 or so out of pocket, including taxes and shipping. this was after a $250 credit. all in all, not bad since I still had 5 months on my existing contract.
Amazon Upgrade
I think one thing I noticed about Amazon Wireless is that the plans that they offer for Tmobile are different than the plans Tmo Stores can offer.
Maybe it's just me but when I go through the checkout process on Amazon they are very limited in their options.

Great Deal! I didn't even consider going through retentions But, then again, I've no complaints with the phone so far.

For those who live in the Miami, FL area you can get your Amaze for only $99.98 with a mail in rebate for $50 so that leaves you with an amaze for only $49.98. This is for new contracts or eligible upgrades on Classic Plans...
I got mine yesterday. Saw the ad online and rushed over to store hoping it was true.
Paid only $106.98 with taxes and got to mail in my rebate to get the $50 back...
Can't beat that with a bat................
I think the value plans are a better value. You don't have to spread the payments over 20 months. Pay it off sooner.

The classic plans are typically $10 to $20 higher than the value plan per month. If the difference is $10 per month, you're paying $250 (approx) more for the same service and $50 for the phone. If you could buy the phone on the value plan for less then $300, you'd be ahead of the game but that's still only a few bucks a month in savings. I think you did pretty well.
They are 20.00 lower per line. None are 10.00 lower. That works out to be 480.00 on a 2 year contract. The deal they had on the 19 works out cheaper than taking the classic plan.

I am impatiently waiting to get my hands on this beast! I have made friends with the store manager at my local Radio Shack. He said that they could match any price, anywhere! At one point, Wirefly had them for $119 but sadly that's gone. Bestbuy has the $199 plus the gift card. I have $200 in hand. Where shall I go?
Went to the Sprint store the other day. Got talking to a rooter sales guy. Sprint has a buy back program. He said $99 for the EVO 3D (I paid ~$55), $55 for my iPhone 3G (not even worth having it's so slow, my 4 year old would rather play with a broken nextel then the working iPhone), plus the $150 for new 2 year upgrade agreement and the $200 istant savings puts me right around $60. Hopefully I can use my preferred members discount to knock off the activation fee.
Walmart for 149.99, that's probably the cheapest place that has the phone in stock right now. If you count the gift card on Best Buy then same deal.
Best buy, $50 gc + 5000($100) rewardzone points with 2yrs agreement of course. Even less if you have a trade in phone.

Thats what I plan to do, but at my BB they told me their running a promo if you trade in an EVO its a $50 card plus value of the phone and I also have the $50 for the phone freedom....So -$50-100, if all goes as they say I'll let you know in the morning
I was considering BB but since the phone is no longer available for pre-order I'd miss out on that $50. I wish I hadn't trusted WireFly so much and just pre-ordered as a backup plan. Now I'm trying to decide if waiting another week is worth paying $100 for it or not.
I haven't seen where you get $50 for activating a new phone and I know the $50 pre-order GC is gone now.. But if that activation one is good I basically pay $150 OOP and get $100 in credit on my RZ account bringing it down to $50 after everything. Not bad..

Isn't that the deal that was available for preorders? I think the OP is referring to what's the best deal now since the phone is technically available in stores as of today. I'm still trying to figure it out myself. And as another thread said you cant combine the best buy reward zone points AND get the $50 gift card. I think walmart $150 sounds like the best no hassle deal as of now.
I was so excited when I saw this I ordered 2 right away.

I didn't notice until after the fact that it was not available in stock yet but this is the best deal I've seen so I'm willing to wait a little and see how it goes. I was also concerned I would not get the gift card if my purchase was not completed before December 1st but I talked to a customer service rep and they confirmed I would receive the gift card based on the order date not the ship date. They also said they estimated they would receive it in stock today which was a surprise. Sounds too good to be true but fingers crossed. So hopefully this is a good deal and I will get my phones shipped shortly.

Keep in mind that price comes with a two year contract @ roughly $80/month and heavy fee, enough to make up the difference, if you cancel before the two years is up.

Their website ordering is odd though. The pricing is hokey, looks different than Verizon. Did VZ contact you after the order to confirm pricing?
In particular Walmart has 2G data pack for $45 where its $60 on VZ...and Walmart only shows text package of $10 /1000 texts....aren't the new VZ plans including unlimited talk and text?
Sorry, this is a nice deal but I have unlimited Data which I know will change but I don't want them effin up the order
Just curious what your experience with the order was.
Thanks!
Well...that doesn't seem like a good deal after all...the $100 gift card you get is only limited to purchases within Walmart; whereas if you buy the DNA with a $20 coupon from Wirefly, you only pay $129.99 and you have the choice whether to spend that $100 on Walmart or not.

No, VZ did not contact me after. But it did take about 24 hours through the Walmart website for "Carrier Approval". I did not change the plan. It asked me whether I wanted to switch to a Share Everything Plan and I said no. So I selected a $30 for 2GB plan for each phone. The plan already includes unlimited texting. I also have 1400 minutes but it was strange that it showed 700 minutes for each line. I'll have to check my plan after I activate both of the lines and see what it looks like.
For some reason Wirefly has just made me nervous in the past. A Walmart gift card is a good as cash to me so I'm good with that.

Yep, ordered mine this morning. i stopped by VZ store to check out the DNA first and man what a great looking phone, cant wait to get some more time on it.
The VZ rep explained to me that I would pick the 2GB but that would be my phone and my wifes plan would stay unlimited until she upgraded or I changed to a shared tier. Which I may do at the next billing cycle because it would save me a few bucks each month.
Again thanks man for this link, we shop at Walmart all the time so that $100 will come in handy!

Yep, for $600 or more. Plus I think there is only one carrier that offers a discounted monthly rate if you buy off contract vs subsidized. Our consumers are too dense to realize that they'd be better off paying full price for phones and demanding lesser monthly fees from the carriers. Everyone wants their fancy new device for relative pennies but will pay through the nose in monthly fees without batting an eye.

I noticed when I looked at the iPhone store for the US once that all the prices were under contract, where here in the UK it's buying directly with no contract. Also here you can purchase a month by month sim and you get the same deals as you do with the full on monthly contracts and they're much cheaper.
Why I was interested in the Nexus 4 was because it's £230-280 and I could get a contract of £25quid a month, cancel it any time and it's the same deal of unlimited data as the monthly version.
Sadly no 32GB version killed it for me because there is no Micro SD either.
Walmart will price match Radio Shack, who had it for $149, but only if you have a printed ad. Then you still get the $100 gift card, too.

It drives me crazy that carriers are still allowed to do this bs. All phones should come unlocked at full price from manufacturer or carrier, and carrier should have to compete for customers based on value and price of service. Unfortunately it is @ss backwards and carriers try locking out certain phones so you jump ship to get their overpriced sh1t service for the new shiny phone. They make you pay $599, sign up and cancel an hour later to use on another carrier -- truly sad
Verizon blows

All phones should come unlocked at full price from manufacturer or carrier, and carrier should have to compete for customers based on value and price of service. Unfortunately it is @ss backwards, and carriers try locking out certain phones so you jump ship to get their overpriced **** service for the shiny phone.

I don't think most Americans would pay unsubsidized price for a smart phone. Sure, some would, but it would only take 1 carrier to offer a discount and people would jump all over it.

He speaks the truth. No one looks at total price anymore, only monthly payments. There's a good portion of the population that can't even get that right.

Walmart will price match Radio Shack, who had it for $149, but only if you have a printed ad. Then you still get the $100 gift card, too.

Has anyone successfully done this? That would be a crazy good price, making it $49. But maybe they would price match somewhere else for $199 making the price $99 instead of the $139 I paid. Either way I'm happy. My screen is dead on my Evo so I was more than ready for a new phone.
Also I looked at my account and everything looks good.
I wasn't able to find a print ad with the Radio Shack price, but they will price match any ad long ad it's not the Verizon ad, is what I was told. They said they just can't price match against VZW corporate.

Huh...is this only available through online? I bought mine from Wirefly for $129.99 and so if that price match does apply then I might as well return mine and get one again from Walmart
