Hi
I have a problem with my SGS2.
With the WananLite Rom the problem is quite big, because the message "Charging stopped because of overvoltage" comes every minute.
Also the phone "thinks" I have the USB plugged in althoug it's not.
Ex. I can't check USB debugging, because it answers that the USB is already plugged. But its not.
Also my PC does not regonize the internal nor extarnal card. No disk shows up.
The icon with the battery says charging all the time.
Also with the phone switched off, the charging battery signal shows.
Can someone help please...
I can see you've asked this question in the WanamLite thread. Making duplicate posts about the same issue in different parts of the board is not cool, however. I would suggest you wait for a reply in that thread, given your problem seems to be specific to that rom.
Unless you'd like to flash a stock rom & see if you can replicate the problem while running it ?

Check if you are facing the issue with stock ROM also, if not the issue may be with the phone. Check at the service center.
Hope this helps!

Got some strange bug. In the notification "menu" it often say "mtp-initialization" even though i havent connected a usb to the phone, also it sometimes think im charging the phone and it gives me the charging animation even though i aint charging it. Why is that? It doesnt matter what rom i use the problem is always there.
Another problem i have is when i turn off the phone it shows me the green battery image plus a thermometer that shows me it is overheated or something.. its always there when i turn it off and to turn it on again i have to go to the recovery and reboot it from there to make it boot up. Why?

me too and it's really really annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it does that every 10 secs or so!!!!!!!
I have the same issue. The common denominator is it all starts after I have charged the phone. The MTP tries to initialize even though my usb is disconnected.
When I shut the phone down, it reboots after a few minutes with MTP trying to connect.
When I pull the battery and reinstall, I get a grey battery charging icon followed by a green icon followed by a battery icon with a warning triangle and a thermometer.
Same here. Any solutions yet?
I'm having issues with MTP and my Galaxy Tab 10.1, it says MTP connected after MTP initialisation but the Tab never shows up in Windows and Kies??
Same problem here, with unrooted i9100.
I think it has something to do with the usb port. I've red somewhere that the quality is very bad and that it is very vonurable to dust.
This is sooooo annoying i just want to put music on my phone and the only way to do it is take out my external sd card and put it on.
Had this issue also recently when I watched videos for longer than usual (Only around 40 minutes). Car mode started going crazy and the device wouldn't stay powered down. I then removed the battery for a couple of hours while I was busy and when I put it in again I got the green battery image that the OP described. From my searching this seems to be a problem based around the usb port and its connector. I tried doing what others suggested in similar threads and move the metal pin up slightly but this hasn't helped.
I'll be running the device heavily again tomorrow (Video wise) so if it acts up again I'm calling samsung for a replacement/repair. This is a really ****ty problem and stranded me in the rain as I couldn't even get the device to boot for 20 minutes due to the battery image problem. I also doubt it's a problem with the battery as I replaced my Anker 1900ma battery with the stock one and the problem persisted.
Wouldn't you be able to get it fixed under warranty, expecting of course that you restock back to original state....
Sounds like a hardware fault which would definately go under warranty...
Hi,
I used a couple of roms by now but on every Rom I got the problem of a wrong battery icon. It shows "charging" very often although no cable is connected.
Anyone got the same problems? Hardware defect? Even after rebooting it remains. Sometime it helps connecting and disconnecting the charging cable.
Thanks
Daniel
questions in general please.
Sorry you're right, can someone move it please?
my galaxy s2 seems to think it is connected to a charger even when it is not,

"Charging paused. Voltage too high"
the battery percentges also go crazy on me and when I try to disable usb debugging it says that a usb cable is connected and that I need to disconnect it first even though no usb is connected, help

turkbey v5 rom with siyah kernel
Most often, this is caused by a dirty or faulty USB port.
-try cleaning it with a dry toothbrush.
-failing that, remove battery and clean the USB port with a q tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Let it dry for a few hours before putting the battery back in.
-failing that, get the port replaced.

I do not think that the rom is the problem ... because i had a similar problem before the phone was rooted ... however i sent it to samsung ... they changed a bunch of parts ... It looks brand new now ...
but ... today i got the "paused charging voltage too high message" and i got it after i removed the charging plug !
it and it gave me the same message after a while .... despite the fact that the charger was not connected. i took the battery out .... and when i put it back in it turned on - I thought I should turn it on !!!

Hi,
Yesterday when I took the phone off the charger normally, it started to indicate that it is being recharged, and a couple of seconds after it announces that it will no longer be charged and this same cycle continues and continues playing the annoying sound / message. I tried to fix it by removing the battery, but it did not help at all. I also tried to connect the phone to Kies but when Kies recognize it, the program crashes ...
So could someone please help me with this?

Did you try to blow some air in the usb port? As it may contain some dust that is leading your phone to notify you as if it is being charged...

Hey,
I have been actually been having the same problem, it could:
1. bad charging brick
2. battery issue
3. kernel issue - i dont think its this one any more because i am still getting it on the stock leaked firmware.
4. usb charging board
i have tried flashing different roms / kernels and doesnt seem to be a cache / file issue since it happening before the phone boots. (charging screen)
if possible try another s2's battery in your phone... power off the phone and see if it auto starts or goes into charging screen. I have a spare battery and i dont seem to get the issue on that one. (still testing)
I also noticed i really only get the issue when i leave the phone charging for the night then wakeup. pull the charging cable and the phone doesn't register the disconnect and says its still charging. if i connect the usb to a laptop and connect and disconnect, it registers instantly.
i have looked for bent pins / dust.. depending on the better testing goes it may be the charging board that could be the issue.
good luck

I agree with you about the usb port problem. I also had a problem with the usb port, the battery icon was blinking all the time and the phone had a huge battery drain issue. All I could do is returning to stock, unrooting and bringing the phone to service center for repair.

Hi guys,
I'm having some problems with my S2's USB port. I've been combing the forums to see if I can find something, but no luck. Let me describe the symptoms and everything I tried.
Whenever I plug my phone in, it doesn't show that it's charging, but the battery is getting filled. USB also doesn't work. Rebooting the phone with the power cable plugged in shows that the phone is charging. Doing the same with the USB only made it charge but not work in USB mode. The battery life is also crappy, as the phone never goes into deep sleep (not even with the Deep Sleep app).
First I thought that the USB board might be faulty. I exchanged that (yes, the revision matches). The problem still persisted. I then tried to reflash the device with different versions of stock ROMs (ICS and JB). Same thing. I then tried flashing the Siyah kernel. That solved a small part of it. Restarting the phone while connected to the PC will make the phone be recognized as a USB device. I also installed CM 10.1. Tried it out with the Dorimanx kernel, still nothing.
My next plans are to use the NukeROM script (tried it before, but nothing) and try fiddling with different ROMs. If anyone has any more ideas, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Tudor

Did you ever try to use another, USB cable, USB port or even computer to connect your phone? If not, try this first. It is just to make sure you are not trying to fix the problem on the wrong side of the USB cable
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Tried multiple ports with multiple cables on multiple PCs.

Awkward, in this case likely to be a hardware problem, but you mentioned it isnt. I never seen something like this.

I could live with the USB thing, but the not going to deep sleep is really a phone killer. The battery only lasts a few hours on idle.

Use BetterBatteryStats then. It will help you find the problem.
over Lioyr
I've been using it (even got the paid version). Doesn't really show anything useful. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, it should show me any problematic apps I have installed. Seeing as how I've been wiping like crazy, I don't think it's an issue due to some app.

If you think it's a hardware issue It would probably be best to bring the phone to a Samsung repair center.
Might just buy a new phone. I just wanted to see if anybody ever had the problem before.
