3.0 on archos - Possible or Inpossible? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have device archos 101 g8 (internet tablet) and I am very interested if it is possible.
Yes, I now there is some like UrukDroid, but I am interested to know if can 3.0 on this device can be STABLE, and Fast (in proportion with RAM of course).
(yeah, i know development takes lot of time, i think releases in future, not now )

What do you mean with 3.0 do you Mean Android 3.0 then why
We can use Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich already

@mclama:
The very next posting has the same question.
So you didn't even try to serach, do you?

no guys, you dont understand me.
I know there are some roms with compromisses (not ideal)
But i ask - will ever 3.0 android on archos good like 3.0 on devicies, which was made for 3.0 (4.0?) .. will it full of valuable android 3.0 and will work like 3.0 on devicies with 512 ram, or it will "laggy"
Thats my questions
And sorry for my stupid questions, i dont understand "geek" concepts.

As already said android 3.0 will never come to the Gen 8, ICS(4.0) has been released and a port is in the workds, why port something older?
Its likely to be a little lagy but with some work you never know it might run rather smooth

Airphone No. 1 Android Port?

Is this even possible? I think that device has a potential. It's the crappy software that is preventing me from purchasing it. It would be nice if someone developed true android ports for those cheap Chinese mobile phones so poor college students like myself who do not wish to be locked to a contract can get a cheap phones. I finally found that the Airphone has a processor with the following specs:
Mtek MT6235 ARM9 core, 208MHz Speed CPU
I read somewhere that Android needs at least 200mhz to run, so this processor should be able to support it, right? I am interested in getting into the mobile hacking scene for Android, but I do not know where to begin. If I purchased this mobile phone (its cheap, I can get it for 89$) which tools would I require to begin hacking it?
Yes, I know this mobile phone does not have 3G, but I have no use for that technology on a phone because I have other means of accessing the internet. I like this mobile because it is very very slim, about the same size as my ipod touch. I know so many other people would purchase this phone if it had android instead of the sucky iPhoney OS.
Many thanks!
So many views yet no replies. Do you think I would have better luck asking this in the Official Google Android developer forum? Or is this type of chinese technology as unknown and elusive as I figured it would be?
if the mtek run winmobile
you can try to start android whit haret
i think that the cpu is the same of htc opal(omap 850)
look here
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki
It doesnt run windows mobile unfortunately. It runs a weird OS called "MTK OS", which apparently is a modified version of Nucleus OS.
Hey thanks for your responses! I will take this to the Official Google Android Forum.
Looking to for something like Airphones
I want to play the video on my pc monitor
and steam the audio of this video on my android phone to listen with headphones
linux port
Hello,
some russian guys made a linux port to MT6235 (Google: Linux'у на MT6235 быть (инструкция прилагается))
Starting an Android kernel would be trivial, but RAM is not enough, so Android on MT6235 is useless.

[Q] Android 2.4 soon?

There are rumours that android 2.4 will be launched April this year and had better support for tablets, than previous version. Any one could confirm this?
It will be good news if someone could build a 2.4 android firmware.
Regards,
Bastospn
Best to concentrate on 3.0 since it's built for tablets. 2.4 only adds some features for tablets and dual core support iirc.

2.4 will be a platform for smartfones with dual cores, not really tablets. it will include some features of 3.0, but will be mainly a mix of gingerbread and honeycomb. it is done to provide the "honeycomb" experience on dual cores cpu smartphones, since gingerbread has no support for dualcores, and honeycomb is made for tablets only, mostly with dualcore support. something in between is 2.4.
u got a folio 100? , then u got a tablet, so aim for the 3.0
If 3.0 will only support 1280x800 screens on we will be able to get it to work on Folio?

It would be irrational to bind a platform onto one resolution. So yes, It will work on other resolutions as well. I can't see that happening.

Well, Honeycomb had been 'successfully' ported over onto the Nook Color which runs 1024x600 resolution (doing a search on Youtube with 'nook color honeycomb' will give you some results). So maybe there is hope yet for the Folio!
I also think it's better to wait for the 3.0 than the 2.4
I 'm not so sure that honeycomb is the way to go... but sure it's pretty.

Can The Nook Tablet Run Nook Color ROMS?

Can the Nook Tablet run Nook Color Roms? I only ask this because I fell in love with the android 3.0 rom for the Nook Color and I found it odd for the developers to launch from cm7 to cm9 and skip 3.0. Anyways if it can great! If not, could somebody port it to our tablets? I would do it myself if I could but I don't know how to port rom, but I'm learning slowly
~Thanks!!!
No, for the love of god never try to flash stuff that was developed for one device onto another device unless it is explicitly stated somewhere that it will work.
As for 3.0, it was basically a beta test for 4.0. This is why Google did not release source for 3.0 until 4.0 was released. There is literally no advantages to running 3.0 and thus why developers free new devices go straight to 4.0

Oh, I liked 3.0 because it was meant for android tablets and it looks better with some features such as how the widget drawer is.

Android 4.0 has all of the features of 3.0 and more. As I said, 3.0 was essentially a beta test for 4.0 and thus why 1. the source was not released until the release of Android 4.0 and 2. it was restricted to tablets. With the release of 4.0, the OS is now designed for tablets/phones/any sized device. It is also very refined, smoother, and a more "finished" product.

ROM for crappy tablet

I bought a cheap tablet and by far this is my worst buy ever. :crying:
It's the Energy Sistem S10 (not the dual one)
For a cheap tablet I don't expect good performance but you can't believe how unstable this @%! is !!!
I feel like I'm using a PC with Windows Me.
And tech support is... well.
To the point:
The tablet is rooted and I hope that a new ROM will solve the stability issues but really I don't know how to determine if a ROM is compatible with my tablet.
Please direct me how to find and determine if a ROM is the one. If you know a specific ROM for the tablet then I'll be more than happy.
The higher version of Android the better but I'm conscious about the poor specifications, however, version 4.1 is enough for me.
TIA and those are the relevant specifications:
Screen: TFT-LCD 10.1" 16:9 (1024x600 pixels)
WI-FI (802.11 b/g/n)
Processor: Allwinner A10 1.0GHz with Mali-400 built-in GPU
1GB RAM DDR3
Internal storage: 8 GB
Built-in front camera (VGA 640x480)
Built-in back camera (2 Mpx) Yes, 2 Mpx
USB-Host adapter
HDMI interface (1080p)
If it's not made for your tablet it's incompatible. Even if it has exactly the same hardware. If you are currently running at least ICS, it's not impossible to make an update. If you aren't however, you're just out of luck.

OK, thanks for the info.
Actually my tablet have ICS 4.0.4 and the manufacturer promised an update to 4.1 since march but looks like it was a joke. Anyway, I guess an update from them will be very unstable too.
I will investigate about how to make an update.
Thanks again.

[Q] KitKat On A Chromebook

Hey XDA! This is my first post so bear with me...
Recently Acer announced their new Tegra K1 Chromebook and I have to say it's pretty intriguing. I really want to buy one, my only problem being Chrome OS. Don't get me wrong, I love it, it's just not robust enough for me. I want to really make use of the K1 by playing more high end games like ones for Android that are more optimized for it. Touchscreen not being a huge issue here. I'd use a PS3 controller of course. Plus with all the apps already developed for the Droid platform it makes a lot more sense than web based Chrome OS.
So, question time.....
Do you think it would be possible to install KitKat or maybe even Android L Beta on a system like this? I have researched it a little and the Tegra uses ARMv7 architecture. I don't know a whole lot about what that means, but as far as I understand it's 64-bit not 32. Does that mean I would have to use a special KitKat OS on this? Also how in the world would I go about doing this? I have successfully installed Ubuntu (I think 12.04) on an older Samsung Chromebook which dual boots both Ubuntu and Chrome OS; however, I am not sure that the steps involved would be the same. Seeing as how this is a fairly new device, Google is of no help whatsoever....
EXTRA, EXTRA!
Would it be possible to make Android the default OS so it auto boots without going to the OS verification screen?
Thanks for reading! Really hope I can get some answers, looking forward to doing some "real" gaming on the cheap!
