[Q] SMS not working with DATA enabled (UK T-Mobile) - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Problem:
When Data (3/3.g) enabled, Texts fail consecutively.
Original OS: 2.3.4 XXKPH
I softbricked then went to Coderom 2.3.5 to recover my device using odin
and have tried various roms and all have the same problem regardless of it being 2.3.4-2.3.6. i read that updating to 2.3.5+ will help, but should it be upgraded to another 2.3.5+ stock rom or can custom roms work too (as it hasnt for me)
anyone else with this issue?
NOTE: UK T-Mobile
ive tried:
TurboBlue-GingerAce-2.3.6 by TAZ
GingerReal 2.0
SGS II 2.3.5
SanGingerAce*LitePlus
ive found TurboBlue and SanGinger ace to be most stable on my device
Processes i have ruled out:
[Does Not Work]Incorrect Message Center Number

[Q] Urgent! Data Won't Work on Any Rom, Even Stock!

Hi,
I recently acquired this galaxy S after my HD2 stopped functioning. When I got it, it had Cynaogenmod on it; however, I wanted MIUI. So, I reverted the phone to stock configurations and loaded MIUI on there.
I used the methods posted in this thread and loaded the revamped SS-6 MIUI rom (I tried all the way up to SS-8). I later found that this was an outdated method and used the suggestions made by the rom creator. Both times I loaded the OS successfully. Unfortunately, the data wasn't working. It showed that I was connected and had full bars with 3G or H connection... but all apps that required data still failed to connect.
I always got a message saying "Data connectivity problem: Server failed to communicate. Please try again later." So, I reverted the phone back to stock JFD using ODIN. I still have the data issue -- nothing connects. The bars are still full and the 3G symbol is still there... it just won't work.
The phone info is:
Model Number: SGH-T959
Firmware Version: 2.1-update 1
Baseband Version: T959UVJFD
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Build Number: ECLAIR
The "Mobile Network Type" reads "HSDPA" and the "Mobile Network State" reads "connected".
Just to clarify, I can still text and call. I just have no data. Wifi works. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated; I'm completely stumped here. Thanks!
You saw the answer in the other thread, right?
Nope, I've been looking for an answer. Is there a thread that has a solution?
The one titled: "Miui completely ignores Data settings". It's a problem with the latest MIUI.
Check out the second post in the GingerZen thread. Follow the steps and ODIN using Eugene's Froyo That Does Not Brick. It should give you a fresh start. As a bonus, it re-roots your phone in the process. Note: only check re-partition for the second flash.
Awesome! Thanks, I'll try it. So, I just use the PIT file that comes with vibrant AIO?
You could grab the one from s15274n's "Noob Guide" too.
Then save all 3 files on your desktop for the next time you have to ODIN.

Your APN settings are screwed up. You'll need to reset your APN settings. Do not go flashing random software to fix your APN settings.
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I followed the steps, but I'm still experiencing the data failure. :-\
I expected that to restore all settings. Google the correct APN settings as suggested. Hope that's it.
(But keep the EFTDNB files handy. They aren't exactly random and will usually get you out of a bind.)
I'm pretty sure I have the correct APN settings. At least, they seem to match what everyone else has posted. I noticed that the arrows around the data symbol (3G or H) only light up on the left side. This to me seems to show that I'm sending data; I'm just not receiving it.
Edit: Solution Found! It was on T-Mobile's end. Apparently, the data package from my HD2 was not compatible with this device. So, they set me up with the "Android equivalent" and "presto!", it works. Thanks for all the assistance!

[Q] SG3 Data Connection Problem - Please Help

Hi
I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy SIII (Internationl version) it keeps turning off my data connection by itself for no specific reason, I need my data connection to be on all the time(I have an unlimited data connection plan) and I'm talking about the 3g/H connection not the Wifi connection, please find hereunder my trials to solve the problem:
- I installed Omega ROM V3
- Run "FastDormancy Toggle i9300 by gokhanmoral" to disable the FastDormancy
- Run BetterBatteryStats to check for "secril_fd-interface" after disabling it and I didn't find it
- The Data connection still turns itself off !!
Also when the data is off by itself, I checked "*#0011#" and I found that the RRC state is under IDLE state so I tried to send any messages using "Whatsapp" and other chat apps in order to wake the connection up but unfortunately it didn't worked.
Please note that sometimes the data connection icon indicator in the top of the screen is there but it's not working (with no green/orange arrows, just grey)
If I wanted to wake the connection I have to disable the data connection and enable it again, after that everything is working fine till it disabled itself again.
when my connection is up and running with no problems, I checked "*#0011#" and I found my RRC state switching between "DCH and IDLE" ONLY, does this means anything?
Then I wiped my phone and:
- I tried CyanogenMod 10 ROM
Did all of the above again and it didn't worked
-I tried CodecROM
Did all of the above again and it didn't worked
now I un-rooted my device and installed the stock 4.1.1 ROM and I have the same problem
Please HELP
BTW my network provider does not support the FD as I called them many times and they don't even know what I'm talking about.
My device specs:
Model Number GT-I9300
Android version 4.1.1
BB I9300XXDLID
Try this...
i have not encountered this problem you should try restoring/ formatting your device to stock Samsung FW.
Thanks beastify, but I just did that as I mentioned in my question and I still have the same issue

Maybe try not using Jelly Bean (4.1.1) and you should try a Custom Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) ROM or then the Stock Samsung Rom.
Jelly Bean still has bugs so i am guessing it is the problem.
It could be a problem with your network provider also. Why don't you put sim card from a different carrier and check ?
Sent from my GT-I9300 with a BIG
Beastify, I tried IceCream Sandwich but with no luck also
jaidev.s, this is a good idea but not recommended for me as I'm a customer with my carrier from a very long time ago and I have a VIP treatment, but I can give it a try, thanks for your help

The number of unread SMS is incorrect on the Home Screen- Galaxy S2 9100

Till the time I had 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) everything worked perfectly. When I updated to 4.0.3, it had shown this problem. Some apps like Easy Battery Saver also stopped working. I did a CWM reset, it worked ok fut in no time it was back to the incorrect number of SMS Problem. I flashed using Odin to the official 2.3.6 firmware and did over the air upgrade again, but still it is reporting the same problem. I found various threads, where there are also other people who have reported such errors. I do not know what to do. Any suggestions.
I have two attachments, one which shows one unread SMS but inside every SMS is read. The second one is my firmware version.

Do you have any APN options on the customs roms ?
Yes, I was using revolution rom hd and I look up the app setting for my network and added them. It would say registered on network but there would be a triangle in the status bar saying no network.
Ok, I have been doing some research and I have found out that I've deleted my efs folder. This means I cannot go online or use calls when using custom roms but I can if I restore with kies. Does anyone know what files kies restore would use to allow me to connect, if I can find these and place then into the custom rom files then I should be able to connect to the network again.

[Q] Problems after updating to JB 4.1.2 on a i9100P (Orange)

Hi All,
I have a galaxy S2 with NFC, the I9100P on the Orange network (UK)
The phone came with Android 4.0.4 and recently an official update has been released based on JB 4.1.2
I updated the phone to this stock 4.1.2 and the problems started...the phone freezes a lot, mostly when typing (even using the stock keyboard) plus it overheats around the area where the camera is (mostly after a reboot)
I read about the Media Scanner causing overheating but I did not find a solution so far. I am not even using a SD card any more, as someone pointed out that could be the problem.
The phone is completely stock so I do not know what to do. I am thinking about installing CM 10 and give it a try. If even that fails, I will re-install ICS since I never had any problem with it before...
Any suggestion? Has anyone else been experiencing the same problems?
Thanks
Did you try to clear the Data/Cache of "Media Storage"? Or try to remount your sd card.
