Hey, I'm looking for a good, blur based, Rom for my atrix (at&t 4.5.91).
I have had some bad experience with cm7 based ROMs and with Alien ROM.
I would like to flash a good, stable, fast and well looking Rom which fits for gaming.
Thank you and forgive me if I had any English mistakes
Sent from my atrix.
Well the only blur based ROM *I* have seen is Aura. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186990
Though for gaming you could check out Faux123's 023 CM7 kernel for a good overclock. I've been using it with the Neutrino ROM at 1.3Ghz and games run amazing!
I used Aura for 2 months and have to say it is very good.

Im using the lite version of wetdream, but he has a full blur version on his thread as well. Works great and haven't had any major issues yet.

I remember i wanted to install it but as i reall it requires a different type of recovery which i have no idea how to install...i will try Aura now.
thank you !
What recovery are you using now? Installing recoveries is one of the easiest things to do.
I'm going to assume you are using the Rom Manager recovery which you would have installed through the app. If you go to the thread for the "romracer" recovery you will see there are zip files which you can then use Rom Manager's recovery to flash and, voila, you are running a new recovery.
If this is not the case, let me know the details and maybe I can help.
As far as Blur based ROMs, there is Aura, Wet Dream, Darkside, Cherry Pi/Pi Crust, Homebase, and GingerMod.
They are all stable AFAIK, it just really depends on what added features/functionality each one brings to the table that best suits your needs/wants.

Romracers recovery...
Just put the Wet Dream ROM onto your external sd-card and do this:
1. Turn off phone and boot into recovery by:
a. Press and hold Volume Down and then press Power
b. Continue holding Volume Down until it says "fastboot" then release
c. Repeatedly press Volume Down until it says "Android Recovery" then press Volume Up
2. Once in recovery you navigate with the volume buttons and select with the power button, now go to:
a. Select "Advanced" and then select "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
b. Once finished, select "Go back" and then select "Wipe cache"
c. After that select "Wipe data/Factory reset", it will ask if you want to "wipe sd-card-ext", make you sure you select "No"
3. Once that is completed, select "Install zip from sd-card" then select "Choose zip from sd-card". Select the appropriate file and the confirm.
4. When the install completes, select "Go back" and then select "Reboot system"
Let it boot all the way and if you want to install any themes or add-ons just go back to recovery using Steps #1 and #3, Skip Step#2 when applying themes and add-ons
This is for installing the ROM, but you might want to do a fastboot wipe so give me a minute to put together instructions for that.

To do a Fastboot wipe there is a batch script which makes it very easy
1. Go here and download the "MFB Full Wipe: 2.0" file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421261
2. Unzip the file and then go to the "Moto-fastboot" folder within the file, then double click the "Moto-FB Full Wipe.bat" file.
3. This will open a command prompt so now you have to put your phone into fastboot:
a. Turn off phone and then boot while holding Volume Down (just like if you were to go into recovery)
b. When it says "Fastboot", release Volume Down and just press Volume Up (It should say "Entering Fastboot protocol"
c. Plug the phone into the computer
4. Go back to the command prompt and press any key to make sure the device is connected correctly, the instructions will inform you that there should be you device ID listed. Once confirmed, press any key to begin the wipe
5. Once it is done it will say to press any key to reboot, at this point have the phone in hand and then press a key to start the reboot. Once the screen goes blank press and hold the Volume down and then continue the instructions for installing the ROM after you disconnect it from the computer. (If you miss it and it goes to the Boot logo, just pull the battery and restart the ROM install instructions)
NOTE: I would recommend putting the ROM zip onto your sd card before doing the wipes.
About GGB
AT&T = Wet Dream
EU and INT = The DarkSide
That's a Fact
Darkside and Wet Dream are both based off of AT&T(US) builds

Ok, but the Faux's Kernel only work well based of INT(BR) in Gingerbread 2.3.5 mod, the battery life is very poor if you to compare with the Wet Dream (GGB 2.3.6).... yet.

ATTENTION, THIS IS FOR TELUS FASCINATE USERS ONLY! (ANDROID 2.2 FROYO)
Okay, so the Telus Fascinate (T959D) is basically the same phone as the T-mobile Vibrant. The only thing stopping us from using Vibrant ROMs was not having the right kernel to flash on top. That is no longer the case, as supercurio has recently injected the Telus Fascinate stock 2.2 JL3 kernel with Voodoo and Clockwork Recovery for us.
So, here is a complete guide to installing Vibrant ROMs on the Telus Fascinate. I have been using Team Whiskey's Nero 5 with Voodoo enabled, 100% working. All the required files are attached.
Note: Please don't send me any messages saying "My phone broke! It's your fault!" This guide worked flawlessly for me, and you all know the risk involved in flashing your phones. There is a reason doing so voids your warranty. That being said, there should not be any issues if you simply follow the instructions correctly.
1. Use Titanium Backup to back up all apps and settings/data
2. Flash stock Telus Fascinate 2.2 ROM using Odin
****ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE COMING FROM A CUSTOM ROM. IF YOUR PHONE IS STILL STOCK, YOU MAY SKIP THIS STEP****
A. Download Odin (attached) and the Telus JL3 stock files
B. Open Odin, and put the files in the appropriate boxes
s1_odin_20100512.pit in "PIT"
T959TLJL3-REV03-ALL-low-CL763100.tar.md5 in "PDA"
T959TLJL3_FROYO_Phone-CL763100.tar in "PHONE"
SGH-T959D-CSC-TLSJL3.tar.md5 in "CSC"
C. Boot into download mode by turning phone off, then holding "Volume Down" while connecting the phone to the computer
D. The first "ID:COM" box should turn yellow and show a numerical COM port
E. Click "Start" and wait for it to finish and reboot, and unplug the phone after the yellow box turns green and says "PASS"

3. Use SuperOneClick to root the phone
1. Download SuperOneClick v1.5.5 (attached)
2. On phone, go to Options > Applocations > Development and enable "USB Debugging"
3. Connect phone to computer, open SuperOneClick, and click "Root"
4. You should see a confirmation when it's done

4. Flash supercurio's Stock+Voodoo kernel using Odin
A. Download the Stock+Voodoo kernel .tar for Odin
B. Open Odin, and put the kernel file in the appropriate box
stock+Voodoo-Froyo-T959D-TLJL3.tar in "PDA"

5. Install your desired custom ROM using Clockwork Recovery
****MAKE SURE THAT THE ROM YOU WANT TO INSTALL DOES NOT HAVE A BOOTLOADER INCLUDED. IF IT DOES IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE. BROWSE THE .ZIP, AND CHECK THE "UPDATES" FOLDER, AND LOOK FOR "SBL.BIN" OR "BOOT.BIN". IF THEY EXIST, DELETE THEM AND REMOVE THE REFERENCE TO THEM (SINGLE LINE FOR EACH) IN THE "UPDATE SCRIPT" FILE, WHICH IS FOUND IN /META-INF/com/google/android/****
A. Place xxxxxxxx.zip (whichever ROM you are flashing) on internal sdcard
B. Disable any lagfixes (Follow step 6 to disable voodoo if it automatically enables with supercurio's kernel - this doesn't happen for everyone I don't think)
C. Reboot into clockwork recovery by holding "Volume Up" + "Volume Down" while turing on the phone
D. Select "install zip from sdcard"
E. Select "choose zip from sdcard"
F. Select "xxxxxxxx.zip"
G. Select "Yes - xxxxxxxx.zip"
H. Wait for installation to finish
I. Reboot
J. After full boot, wait roughly 10 minutes and reboot, this will smooth things out and eliminate any small bugs.

And i flashed the custom kernel through SGS Kernel Flasher, so do i have to flash back to stock and do this process all over again?

If you are currently running a stock ROM with supercurio's kernel, then you would jump to the part that comes after installing the stock ROM and supercurio's kernel (i.e. flashing the custom ROM). Just disable Voodoo first.
If you are currently running a custom ROM, then yes, it is recommended to go back to stock before flashing a new custom ROM. Some ROM developers have made it so that you can flash their newer versions over older versions of the same ROM, but make sure that's the case before you do so. And it's always recommended to disable Voodoo before flashing anything.

Great Post Samperlmutar;
Just one suggestion if I may, you didn't mention to boot into clockwork AFTER you flash the final final voodoo kernel so you can enable voodoo lagfix...if you want it.
I have voodoo enable and this phone is crazy fast.

You have to flash it the first time to get to clockwork recovery, then when you flash the vibrant rom the supercurio kernel will get overwrited, therefore it needs to be flashed again.

No. That's why I specified to use ROMs for the Vibrant, it's virtually the same phone. They work almost perfectly even if you don't flash a Telus kernel/modem. The only consistent issues with unmodified Vibrant ROMs on the Telus Fascinate are (1) Volume buttons swapped, (2) No wireless service, and (3) USB connection causes reboot. Each of these issues are fixed by flashing a compatible kernel/modem.

I haven't used any themes, but they should definitely work without any problems. Themes don't affect the kernel or the modem, and those two elements are the only things that we changed from the original Vibrant ROMs.

And thanks for this guide. Working great. xD
First time noob here! I have several questions regarding this install
1) I'm not so familiar with Odin. Can I use sgs kernel flasher instead?
2) If i mess up during the process, is there any method to go back to the stock?
3) Will any T-mobile vibrant rom work on telus fascinate?
4)What do they mean by remove lagfix in step 5?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

1) The steps where I say to use Odin use files made for Odin, so no...they can't be used for anything else. Download Odin from the attachments and check it out. It's really easy to use and should make perfect sense if you follow the instructions closely.
2) That's what step 2 does. If you mess up at any time, you can just perform step 2 and everything will be back to stock.
3) From my experience, yes.
4) If you started from step 1, then you don't have a lag-fix installed. This is just an extra warning for those who jumped straight to installing the ROM, that might have been running stock w/ a custom kernel already (and thus may have installed a lag-fix).
Sorry for the repost XD

awesome!!!!! Thanks for the answers!!!
Help! I was going through the steps everything running smoothly. I installed Nero 5 from the zip, checked reboot and now I have nothing. No download mode, no recovery, nothing!
For odin, do we have to download any .pit file?
I researched about odin articles and it seems that I need the pit file. Can anyone
help me with this? Thanks!
Ok, now that people have started bricking because they aren't making sure that what they're flashing is compatible with their phones, it's time to take a few steps back and add a little caution. For all their similarities, the Vibrant and our (Telus) Fascinates are NOT the same phone.
Before you flash ANYTHING you need to first extract and examine the update script to make sure it's not flashing a bootloader or some such thing that WILL brick your phone.
What you need to do is look at the blocks (i.e. stuff under /dev/block/) it's flashing and anything outside of modem.bin and zImage (kernel) should be a red flag telling you to stay away from this ROM. In fact, if you have any Kung-Fu skills you can just replace the model and kernel files with the Telus or I9000 ones you want to use and re-sign the zip file to keep from having to flash and re-flash.
Thanks so much, I have been waiting on this since i unlocked my phone. Let the installing begin
EDIT: My phone seems to be stuck on download mode: ODIN does not want to recognize it so I cannot flash(right word?) the Stock+Voodoo-Froyo.tar file.
EDIT: FIXED: Boot into recovery mode: VOL up + VOL down. Then click reboot with power button, then immediately hold VOL down

Downloads:
Download Samsung drivers from HERE.
Download Odin (computer program) from HERE.
Download ClockworkMod Recovery from HERE. (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it).
Download "update.zip" file from HERE. (place this file on the root of your sdcard...not within any folders).
Download "su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file from HERE. (place this file on the root of your sdcard...not within any folders).
Instructions:
1. Install Samsung drivers on your computer.
2. Open Odin on your computer. (You may need to disable antivirus programs for this to work properly)
3. Power off your phone and remove the battery.
4. Plug the stock USB cord which came with your phone into a powered USB port on your computer (usually on the back of the CPU).
5. Press and hold the "volume down" button on your phone, and continue to hold it while plugging the USB cord into your phone. This will put your phone into download mode. You'll see a large yellow triangle on the screen of your phone. You will also see one of the small boxes in Odin turn yellow, as well as "Added" appearing in the message box.
6. Press the PDA button in Odin (NOT the PHONE button) and navigate to the cwr-all.tar file you downloaded earlier.
7. Press START. When this process has finished, you'll be notified in Odin (succeeded 1/failed 0) and your phone screen will go blank.
8. Unplug your phone and re-insert battery.
9. Press and hold BOTH volume buttons and the power button simultaneously. Hold all three until you see "SAMSUNG" appear. This will boot your phone into recovery. If your text is red, then you're already in ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery and you can skip the rest of this step. If the recovery menu is blue, then you're in stock recovery. Use the volume rocker to navigate down to "apply sdcard:update.zip" and select using the "Home" softkey. This will take you to CWM Recovery (red text menu). If your phone does not boot into recovery here, just pull the battery or wait for it to boot up and then power it down and try this again. It may take a couple tries for you to get it right.
10. When you see the red text and "CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery 2.5.1x" at the top, use the volume rocker to navigate down to "Wipe data/factory reset." Press the power button to select, and then navigate to yes, and press the power button again to select. Do this 3 times.
11. Scroll down to "Wipe cache partition," use power button to select, and then highlight and select "Yes." Do this 3 times.
12. Scroll down to "advanced" and then select "Wipe dalvik cache." Scroll to "Yes," and use power button to select. Do this 3 times.
13. Press the "Menu" softkey to return to the previous menu in CWM Recovery.
14. Navigate down to "Install zip from sdcard." Highlight it and press the power button to select.
15. Navigate to "choose zip from sdcard" and select.
16. Navigate to the rooted "su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file that you downloaded earlier, and select it. Scroll to "Yes," and use power button to select.
17. When you're advised of completion, press the "Menu" softkey to go back to the previous CWR screen, then highlight and select "reboot system now."
At this point your phone will reboot and you'll be rooted with fully bloated ED01 Froyo. Open up your app drawer. You should see an app called "SuperUser". If it's there, you're done! Now you can think about possibly moving on to a custom ROM and/or kernel.
Don't break your phone! It's not my prob if you do! Good Luck, This did work and I am going good!
I was literally JUST looking for a way to root the ED01 rom. Dude...YOUDAMAN!
Isn't this just the same su and busybox nemesis2all posted yesterday right here in the XDA development forum only with out the basic steps of installing ODIN and update.zip which isn't even needed with the latest CWM?

not taking anything away from nemesis2all, I have used many of his creations, this is just a little more in depth. I tried his way and kept getting blue recovery, found this and thought it would help those having the same issues.

good job man, wish someone made it that easy when i first started out.
Just use Super One Click to root, fast and easy.
The reason that people are getting back to stock recovery after flashing CWM is because stock recovery re-asserts itself if a custom kernel is not flashed. Whenever you Odin back to stock and flash CWM afterwards, you should ALWAYS flash a custom kernel in CWM before booting to the OS, otherwise the change in recovery won't keep.

I can tell you that I rooted stock ED01 with this method, make sure you uncheck autoboot in ODIN and restart in recovery with 3button method to confirm red recovery stuck .... im on stock ED01 kernel, but you can use any of the (TW) EC01 kernels out there . im sticking with stock until they start working out some tweaks...that's just me though

This is important information. Unfortunately none of the HOWTO threads on installing CWM mention this in the instructions and it took me hours to even become aware that this was what was happening to me. I haven't yet figured out how to remedy the problem but at least I know what it is now. Strangely I don't think I had any problem getting CWM to stick after flashing EB01 a while back.
The original instructions on FF have been updated somewhat. Among other things the wiping steps seem to not be necessary for just getting root. Here's the link. About to try this but with CWM3.

This is from original thread by Adrynalyne.
Note: Keep in mind that once you Odin CWR to ED01, you MUST also flash a kernel, or rom containing a kernel to replace the stock one, or it will revert you.
I spent days working on this issue of reverting back to stock recovery. I can tell you SSJ is absolutely correct, it is all about the kernel. Anytime you flash a stock kernel, whether it be in an ODIN package or flashing a stock kernel or a ROM that includes a stock kernel in CWM, the stock kernel will revert you back to stock blue (2e) recovery. From my experience and speaking with others, this only happens on nonvoodoo because obviously there are no stock voodoo kernels, they are all custom. You can flash the current CWM and it will stick through flashing modems in ODIN, and themes, patches, and mods in CWM. But as soon as you flash a stock kernel, you have to reflash the current CWM. So follow SSJ's advice and immediately flash a custom kernel if you are running nonvoodoo. My apologies to the OP that this is off topic from the thread. Just wanted to share the info I learned from days of previous testing.

He seems to have added that in the ED01 thread in the last few hours but in most of the recent Clockwork threads they don't mention this which is surprising.
Hello all
I am having a small issue with GTab
I can reboot into recovery every time from the power and volume+ combination, but sometime will not reboot if I go to the menu and reboot (power-off) menu, or if I go into CWM ROM Manger and reboot to recovery. sometimes I get the in and other time just reboots everything comes up. just like rebooting from the menu at time quicker..
I am running CWM v.8 Vegtab 7.1.0
now I believe this start after I flashed from CWM ROM Manger the a version CWM .. can remember the version (sorry ) screen was Orange and had the logo CWM in the center.. this is when I noticed the problem, then I reflashed back to V.8 thinking that would fix the problem and it did not.
I hoping this make sense I know it not world stopping or fun stopping, but it is a pain..
hoping someone had seen this problem before.. and could give me some direction to look at
Jim
1. Using the Power and Vol + key is the recommended method to boot into recovery. Avoid using the other methods.
2. Uninstall ROM Manager. It works fine on phones, but, is known to cause problems on the gTab.
3. Make sure both your ROM and your CWM are built for your bootloader (1.1 or 1.2). Since you said you have VEGAn-Tab 7.1.0, you can find out the version of your bootloader using the info. in this thread.
Suggestions:
1. Copy the zip file in post #3 of this thread to the SD card and then "install" it (once) using CWM.
2. If you're on a 1.1 bootloader, these CWM versions are available: CWM-2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8 and CWM-4.0.1.5
If you have the 1.2 bootloader install one of these CWM versions: CWM-3.0.2.8 or CWM-4.0.1.5. All are available on this board. Do a search.
thanks rajeevvp
I am using bootloader 1.1
every step worked great.. you are cool android person..
went with CWM-2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8 since that what I had in the first place
Are there any pluses going to CWM-4.0.1.5?
thanks for your help again..

I like that it tries to use the external SD card first and only then falls back to using the internal one for backups, restores and update.zip installs. Other than that and the new menu colours, there aren't a lot of externally visible differences.
More info. in this thread.
rajeevvp,
thanks for the information.. about version of CWM.. I think I found the one that will not work with the reboot menu "power off" menu.. I have installed CWM-4.0.1.5 and tried the menu option and also running GScript to reboot in recovery mode and will not do it all the time with 4.0.1.5.
what happen is that is just boots normal, which is not a bad thing.
and I know you do not like the idea of going into recovery mode without doing the power and volume + method.
just thought you would like to know what I found out.
thanks again for all your help..
Now if I want to go back to bekit-0.8 would you I need to do the erase misc like I did before?

I didn't understand this. Are you saying that CWM-4.0.1.5 does not do "Reboot recovery" correctly everytime? And the ROM also? Both should usually work (but, I don't recommend it) on the 1.1 bootloader.

No need. Erase misc only if you get stuck on the 3 birds or if you go into a reboots-into-recovery loop--both of which are unlikely given your CWM (bekit-0.8 or 4.0.1.5) and bootloader (1.1) versions.
rajeevvp,
Sorry for the late Reply..
only it I use Gscript reboot to recovery, Menu from the shutdown .. Select reboot and then either reboot or reboot recovery.. if I am using CWM-4.0.1.5 with VegenTab 7.1.0
I can always go in to recovery mode from the volume and power button combination.
using bekit-0.8 I can get it to reboot into recovery from anywhere..
yes, I thought it was werid too..
thanks for all your help
Jim
I don't recommend doing "Reboot to recovery" using any tool--GScript, the ROM option, or the CWM menu item. Your tablet may "hang" at the 3 birds splash screen or go into a "always-reboot-into-recovery" boot loop.
I flashed an ICS rom through CWM recovery and it failed to boot up (stuck on Android logo) and now I am trying to figure out how to reverse this process!!! Thanks!
Anyone?
Reflash it.. wipe everything this time.
Read this Guide before
flashing.
Please search for related topics on XDA before making a new thread.

1) Pull out the back cover and take out the battery. It will shut your phone down.
2) Place the battery in its original place.
3) Press the CWM hard key combo to enter into recovery. In case of P500 press Home+Vol.Down+Power simultaneously.Release the keys after recovery menu shows up.
4) Wipe everything like Data, dalvik-cache.Format system.
5) Try to flash again or another ROM from "install zip from sdcard".
6) Reboot system after flashing.
Best of Luck.

Just search in development section for a rom for your phone you like. There will be installation instructions and a kernel to flash.
Make sure battery status is more than 75%, best 100%
1. Download the zip to install the rom and copy it to your sd card. Download the kernel (make sure the right one for your device),too.
2. Download sony flashtool and install it.
3. Open flashtool and click on the flash, select "fastboot mode" and choose "select kernel to flash". Now put your phone in fastboot mode (hold volume up while connecting to pc, blue led will turn on)
4. Select the kernel you have downloaded from the thread of the rom. It should be named boot.img. Flashtool will automaticly flash it.
5. SEE THE LOG FOR ERRORS. IF THERE ARE NO ERRORS/BAD BLOCKS, CONTINUE!
6. Unplug device and restart. Press volume down again and again.
7. Look in the forum thread, what has to be wiped/formatted (for example /system or /data or just do a factory reset).
8. Select "install zip from sd card" -> "choose zip" -> choose the installation zip you put on your sd card. and click yes.
9. Just let it install, don't pull battery, because you think it stucks.
(9.1) If there is an aroma installer, you will have to choose your device (volume up or down to navigate) and home button to select. If required select unlocked bootloader.
(9.2) If there were any fixes on the thread, just flash them, too. For that you had to put on sd card before starting everything!
10. Reboot and enjoy
Hope it helps
I know you people all like these easy questions which get your thanks meter up boosting your ego, but these posts should not be endorsed!
someguyfromhell made THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792 post, which is called TUTORIAL, FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND FIRST AID, and so it wouldn't get lost made a sticky which is the first thing you read when you open this section of the forum.
Honestly, did you even bother stopping by and reading before opening a useless thread?
Please please please stop endorsing posts like "which rom should i flash on my xx", or "how do i root my phone", it's all been said and done and opening up all these threads just gets people lost when searching for an actual problem.
