Hello i recently bought an lg chic and have been looking for custom roms that support it. Sadly i have only been able to find one, Cyanogen 7.2.0. I flashed it to my device and it works, but the rom is still in beta stages (being ported) so its kinda buggy.
My friend has an optimus one running lunar ics. The optimus chic and optimus one are almost identical phones, so would I be able to flash lunar ics to my phone without bricking it?
In my experience, unless a ROM maker specifically mentions that your phone is supported by their build, you would be very unwise to try it out.
Given the speed with which people are coming out with ICS ROMs, you would probably be best served to wait, or get a different phone.
They are not the same.
Even the slightest difference makes a huge difference.
Don't try it.
alright thanks alot lol, i guess ill just have to wait for the rom to be updated some more

Since I cannot post in the dev. forum yet I suppose this is a general question.
I see that today Ubuntdroid RC1-Optimus T has been released. Currently I am running JoeMomRomv1-Optimus T and enjoy it. Knowning that most Optimus One and T custom ROMs work on either device (noting that some folks have had issues with battery life leading some to believe that there may be more hardware differences between the two phones) I would like to know if any other Optimus T owners prefer specific custom ROMs for their devices?
I'm on T-Mobile in the US and am overclocked on JoeMomRom OC'd to 729MHz right now. I am most interested in a bloat free ROM with Wifi Calling enabled. Anything that can be installed from the market is not needed in the ROM imho.
On another note as I have not seen anything on the JoeMomRom topic in the dev. forum is it safe to assume Ubuntdroid is going to take over from where JoeMomRom left off?
I'm on void, works great (no bloat). As for the wifi calling, I can see about extracting it from the stock v10l ROM the T ships with.
Yeah, JoeMomRom is dead. If you check the thread, Joseph updated the first post and said so.
I'm satisfied with JMRv1 enough to keep using it until (if) CM7 comes out for our phone.
Hey there guys I'm new to the forums but I've been using android since the G1 launched. I just got the LG optimus C and I know it's nothing powerful but it does the job and runs netflix pretty well now. Well I have it rooted now with Gingerbreak and was wondering if anyone has gotten a custom rom running on it yet?
I managed to turn swype off (big fingers dont mix with swype on this screen) and I changed the home screen, disabling the LG one. But I would really love
to get CM running on it like devs have managed to get running on the V and other optimus devices.
I apologize if this is in the incorrect area, I knew the phones were similar on a hardware level so it was the closest I knew.
Anyone had any success or suggestions?
selfless bump
Have you found a recovery program that supports it? I don't see it listed at http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/330813-all-one-recovery-thread.html
Someone claims to have gotten one going.I forget the name but it begins with an X. I know the custom optimus roms just need to be tweaked slightly for this device. Unfortunately I suck at custom roms, better at psp coding. If anyone wants to port it i'd be so grateful i'd donate.

I know that drellisdee/getitnowmarketing worked on bringing the Amon-Ra recovery to Optimus T and other Optimus flavors. You might contact him.

ok, so my friend wants me to flash a ROM to his Optimus T for him but i have a Galaxy S 4G so i haven't dabbled in the Optimus ROMs so any suggestions on what ROM is the best?
I think p500 roms are compatible
i want suggestions of good ROMs, not compatibility

I'd go with a cyanogen rom myself. Seem's to work pretty good on mine and i've used them across several platforms. The one for this phone has several bugs at the time of this message however.
I like mik_os' unofficial port of CyanogenMod 7. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
I've been running it several weeks, and pretty happy. My biggest complaint is it makes your phone think it's a P500, instead of a P509, so the t-mobile apps don't work and some apps aren't visible on the market that should be.
Other than that, it's been real solid.
I'm about to try a new one that is P509 specific that's based on his rom, but with T-Mobile compatible changes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072252
I'm assuming you've looked through the "[STICKY][REPOSITORY][UPDATED] Repository of HOWTOs, ROMs, MODs etc." at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
Hi all, I am a current iPhone user and my phone is shot (battery issues and water damage) and its time to move on to something with a more open user experience (I am a engineer and love to tinker). My main question is the LG Phoenix (Optimus One?) a good beginning phone to get familiar with the Android platform? A friend has one that they used all of two months before getting an iPhone 4 and is willing to sale me the phone really really cheap.
Thank you for your time and any answers you may have for me, the help will be greatly appreciated!
Michael
Go for it, dude. You won't regret it. This is my first Android phone too (purchased in June last year) and I started to tinker with it in November. It has been smooth sailing so far. Best investment for money.
BTW, I'm an engineer too. ;-)
Thank you for the quick reply
If you're getting it for cheap, do go ahead. Just remember that it is a rather low-level phone, so glitches and lag and other such problems are to be expected. But a custom ROM should fix most, if not all, of those problems.

I advice you to buy it. Flashing a custom rom on Optimus One will speed up your phone.. and you can have Ice Cream Sandwich on it.
dude just go for O1, I'm so much happy with this device and our development is just awesome!!
One more thing I'm a future Engg!!
Thanks for the replies! I was astonished when I found this forum and why I hadn't sooner. This whole website is full of wonderful information and helpful people!
The Phoenix and O1 have different drivers. Flashing O1 roms work, with color issues, you need joban' s kernel to make it work right. Obb never had a stable rom/ kernel
Joban was the only one working on building. Now he's not.
Netflix will never work on Phoenix. CPU to slow. I've OC mine 729
I updated to 2.3.4 stock. Roming never made it better.
If you wanna neet phone to bring you into android, and it's REALLY cheap then get Phoenix.
if you want to rom and mod then get something better.
So i just got this new phone and so far its great. I used to have s vibrant running ics passion ( sadly stolen :\) so i know what i can do and cant do with roms. But i came on to this and found out there are no roms for this phone. Why is that?

Lolz. You cant complain on XDA, after buying a phone without browsing the same phone in XDA. Similary these days new companies are formed only after suitable website name (www.xyz.com) is found.
Anyways this phone is new, only few months, and you need to keep some patience. There are really NO ROM/KERNEL DEVELOPERS HERE at the moment and the main reason is that, the phone have Locked Bootloader and some inbuilt restrictions and no good support from LG. No sources of Kernel is yet shared.
The good news is they (LG) have informed that they will provide unlocked version of Jelly Bean in next few months.:fingers-crossed:so everyone here have fingers crossed and literally doing nothing. May be after JB release more REAL developers will buy this phone and there will be too much of crowd in this forum too.
IMHO: If some strong developers from Optimus 2X forums, would buy this phone and come here, this phone will fly. They made roms and kernels inspite of Locked Bootloader by using some unique bypassing methods.

Dont lose hope. Patience is the key. This phone is enough strong to do magic. But Magicians are yet to come and perform.

Patience
For guideline, if you want a phone with a lot of android development (custom ROM), look here on XDA which phone have most vibrant community. Generally, Nexus phone and very popular phone (like SG SIII) have a lot of custom ROM.
L9 can be a popular phone though (maybe already). Big IPS screen, 1 GHz dual core with 1 GB RAM with affordable price. Now it depends on LG whether to embrace this community or not (my newbie understanding, it can be very difficult to have firmware/driver for camera, for example).

When we suggest someone any other phone, for ROM issue, it should be in similar category and price range. Well, you know, if one can "easily afford" SGS3 would not even look at L9.
But yes, if LG want people to buy this phone then, they must know what people want.

Stock ROM is enough for me, just give me the ability to root and JB update (dare I hope 4.2? )
For comparison, Samsung went straight to JB 4.1 from GB 2.3 with its S Advance.
Please keep pictures like that away from XDA.
