How Do I Install Cyanogen Mod - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I rooted my phone with CF-Root and I'm not sure how to install cyanogen mod. Someone halp!

Read the FAQ's here
Find the CM7 thread, read the first posts, download the zip, put it on your phone, boot into CWM, FLASH IT TWICE, wipe data/cache/etc (do backups first), reboot, wait for upto 15min for it to boot the first time.

There is not CM7 thread

A quick search reveals this thread strangely titled "[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Galaxy S II"

Read the damn instructions for the installation of the rom. Sheesh
And if I see a single post in this thread saying "Don't pick on the n00b" I will go absolutely ape**** on that person. You have been warned.
OP, given you were unable to perform the most basic of tasks i.e find the CM thread, please do everyone here a favour and leave your phone the way it is. Being a betting man I will lay very short odds about you messing up your phone, which will mean yet *another* I broked mai fone thread.

How do I do a NANDroid backup?

Look it up! for goodness sake.
I think there is something called 'GOOGLE' that will help you out.

OP, don't list to them, here's the thread you need, with step by step, simple instructions:

You're welcome.

I'm using Galaxy S2. Do I need to do NANDroid back up?

Do a nandroid backup if you feel like getting back to your previous rom!
Just boot into recovery mode and install the cyanogenmod.zip file from the root of your sdcard!
Wait for it to complete and then reboot! Are you rooted?

On bootable sdcards I find boot, flashing_boot, MLO, u-boot.bin. What I would like to know in what order are they initiated. Also what is each called. example: xxxxxx.xxx = ramdisk. I hope this is clear enough.
Ah okay. I wasn't sure if you needed help getting an sdcard set up or not.
I'd check the thread for CM7 in development if you haven't yet, possibly post the question if there's no answer here and pop into IRC and ask if you want.

Touchscreen problem

Ok I was trying to root my 3.6 US version, when i accidentally flashed the rom for the 4.2. I fixed it, and flashed the regular 3.6 US rooted rom from attn1. After that, when i turned it on, the screen would not work!!!! I have tried flashing diff. kernels but the stock kernel isn't able to flash, either that or I'm doing it wrong. Can someone give me the kernel if you have it, and instructions on how to flash it? I NEED my mp3 to work again D:

Ok, so your kernel just fails to flash? Or after flashing it the touch screen just still doesnt work?
It will flash. But the screen won't work
I cant promise that this is a solution, but have a look at this thread.
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080006
This could at least maybe help us figure out what is going on. Since the SGP 3.6 doesnt have many(if any at all) custom roms, it could be a difficult fix.
How would that work with GP3.6??
Ok, I devised a plan that might work! If not, well it was worth the try.
I applied the steps from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068819
1. Flash your SGP 3.6 stock ROM
2. Flash just the stock kernel only
3. Flash the wrong ROM again
4. Now, flash the stock ROM again
5. Reboot your device. If it doesnt boot just let it go for about five minutes without shutting it off or anything. Then hold in the power button until it shuts off, and flash the stock ROM again.
6. Reboot, and if it boots the touch screen should work.
thanks so much. <3

Anyone else just get an OTA? I'm stump rooted

I just got it and panicked a little. Found where it downloaded a deleted it. Completely removed software update. I thought when I used shortcut master lite, found WLAN and disabled OTA. I thought that was enough. Sucka still got through and tried to ruin my year.

Thinking I may either update to barin zv6 or vanir for a moment. Got my nandroid of super silky zv4 that I was loving. Just do not want the S4 experience. BEING PARANOID!!!!
Yeah I might as well try I wanted to stay stock until lollipop which will be soon enough

A simple search on Google of exactly what your problem was returns this as the first result. You are not screwed and it is a simple flashable zip file that will save you. For future reference, don't ever take an official update from LG if you value root access or TWRP on your device. Anti-rollback may be right around the corner.
Thanks!!
I did the stupid update and lost root with stump! Is breaking my phone and getting it replaced my best and easiest option?
