WiFi, why does the rezound ALWAYS seem - HTC Rezound

to default to WiFi for data, even though I have never once turned WiFi on??
I have had two Rezounds & both did the exact same thing. I don't want my phone to EVER turn on WiFi unless I tell it to about once a year and it seems everytime I turn around it is back on WiFi again.

In wifi settings theres a option saying notify me when oppening apps if wifi is available. Uncheck it.

I unchecked that a long time ago, now it doesn't notify me but it still keeps right on connecting that way when I want it to stay in 4G.
My Charge never did this once.

Running Scott's senseless GB rom and when I turn wifi off it stays off no matter what it is I do. Also have notify me unchecked. Try going into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache and see if that helps.

I've wiped both caches many times (did them both yesterday actually).
Maybe it's a sense thing. If so I'll live with it as I really love sense and it's widgets.

yes

redownloaded v1.0 and reflashed.
still no luck. Quinn
Try this for giggles:
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> Advanced (press menu button to access) -> Wi-Fi sleep policy
Set it to "Never". This will keep Wi-Fi on at all times. I've had disconnects when it was set to anything else. Now it always stays connected without issue.

That is exactly what mine does, if its a router with a internal battery you gave to pull it too. I think the router stores something and when you flash a rom it gets confused. Make sure you leave it off for up to 30 seconds.

That I can't answer, I can say however that rebooting the router has always worked for this issue for me, your description is spot on, and its worked for alot of other people, your post is the first post about it in a couple months
You can try power cycling the modem too, I've never had to but that might work

[Solved] Wifi crashes every 10-15 sec

My wifi was alright with original 2.3.3 gingerbread. But after flashing to 4.0.2.A.0.42 it started to crash and reconnect every 10-15 sec. I thought that problem is with my router, tried to reset it, but the same problem.Connected with my Huawei u8650 and it worked fine. So i understood, that problem is with phones wifi. I searched the interned and all xda forum, but find nothing. So i ask for help.
Thanks.
Ensure you clear cache dalvik cache, data and full reset before flashing.
Suggest you wipe all user data, caches, dalvik indeed and then see if it happens again.
If it repeats then SE firmwares do have a history of having wifi problems, especially the 2.3.3 ones of 3.x.x..
Is there an echo on here?

Settings-wifi-advanced-wifi sleep-never.
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
NO - You don't need to do that. WiFi will reconnect and stay connected perfectly well if setting is sleep with screen off. Or bye-bye battery life.
Their problems are more likely due to the way they updated their firmware. i.e. without a FULL reset and clearing data/cache (both caches). Or coming from a custom ROM or kernel. Or sh*te router.

i tried that too, but as i said, it also happens with the screen on, like talking via gTalk and the wifi disconnects and reconnects, when i bought the phone was in 2.3.3 and wifi worked great, even better than the iPod,so, this issue appeared with the .42 (2.3.4) update.
just installed the .62 update, i still have the Wifi Issues =/!
Just updated to .62 firmware, and i'm still having the wifi issue =/
How? Did you clear caches, full reset?
No, i updated using PC companion,I have the phone stock because the warranty

Keep WIFI on during sleep

I've been try to extend the life of my battery, and one of the things I have done is set the SETTINGS/WIFI/ADVANCED "keep WIFI on during sleep" to "never".
I make this change, but most times when I go back into the settings later on, it's changed back to "Always"
Anybody offer a clue as to why this might be happening?
Thanks.

no idea mate it shouldn't do as i have mine set to never and it stays like that, have you been flashing ROM's or anything like that maybe that could explain it!
No, not really.
The only thing I've done is rooted it. Apart from that, It's still got stock Samsung Rom on it.
Just checked again, and even tried setting it to "only when plugged in, but after 15 mins or so, it's back to "always" again.

For anyone else who might come across the same issue.
After doing a factory reset, and putting apps back on one at a time, I found out it was DoubleTwist Airsync, that was changing the "WIFI sleep" option.
Apparently, the developer knows this, but wants it to work that way.
So it's now gone for me
But you won't lose too much battery on an 7 hr sleep with the always on setting.
I go to sleep with my S3 on 98% and wake up with 92-94% battery left even with received messages from 3 email accounts and other notifications.

Sent from my S3 using Tapatalk
I keep mine on always. I lose 3% during an 8hr sleep and it'll automatically connect to my carrier data when my network is not in range. Sure beats turning it off and on a handful times a day.
Weird is that WiFi is active in either option you shoose during sleep. Even if you choose NEVER, open your battery use stats and you'll see that WiFi was active all the time during sleep. I cannot understand why is this issue so underrated here on XDA forums. Or is it some kind of misinterpreting from my side???

Yup afaik, choosing never will produce a wakelock to check the phone state and keeping it on will cause it to constantly scan even if connected to a network. Both choices will eat up battery.
I see many threads suggesting to just manually turn it off, preventing scanning, wakelocks and syncing all together.

[Q] data stopped functioning

I apologize in advance if this was addressed before, I couldnt find a thread that answered my issue.
My phone doesn't cannot to data anymore.
I have been flashing different roms pretty frequently, and I am currently on SpeedRom 7.8
For the past month, data hasn't been working on the different roms I have been using. I don't know what is the cause for this issue.
This issue started when i installed SpeedRom 7.5. From there i jumped from one rom to the next, with data not working.
Can you of guys help me with my predicament?
Thank you

Go to Settings - Data Usage and make sure Mobile Data is "On". This gets turned off sometimes when flashing new ROMs or by accident.

I just checked and It's definetely on.
To expand and clarify the issue, when I turn the data on, there is no data icon at the top of the status bar beside the network strength icon.

Wifi Staying on during deepsleep

My wifi is remaining on all the time, even during deep sleep. It is draining the battery exessivly.
I can see in BBS that the phone is getting into deep sleep, with very few partial and kernal wakelocks... However each time I go to unlock the phone the wifi is still on and already connected.
I am running Omega v30, Syiah 1.7rc1
Tried Wiping Cache, Delvic Cache, Fixing Permissions, Formatting /system
Wifi settings are set to never.
Anyone got any ideas?

I cannot figure this out.. been wasting more of my work day attempting to fix this..Next step is a full wipe I guess...
personally I just use juice defender to manage it all for me, people criticize it, but for someone like me that always forgets to turn Wi-Fi off, it does the job and saves more battery than it uses!
or just create a tasker profile that switches off Wifi during your sleeping hours.
Are you using viber, it has its own wifi sleep policy
