Today, I decided to use a font that I cannot find at the flipfont directory here at XDA. I downloaded and loaded up to Font Changer. When Font Changer said that changes need to be made via rebooting, I chose to "reboot later". However, it didn't work. So I decided to reboot directly from the app. This is where everything went wrong.
When the device is done booting, the screen is half unresponsive and the screen keeps on blinking. It does not let me choose the launcher that I have and it does not let me use the home keys, as they are not functioning properly. It just keeps on repeating the action of "Media Scanner Running", and keeps on saying that the "status bar" activity is unresponsive.
Luckily, I can plug in it via. USB into mass storage mode to do a backup. Is there anyway to solve this in a simple way that does not require wiping data via. ODIN?
Thanks in advance!
Do you have an SD card installed?
Mine got stuck on a "Scanning media" once and I removed the SD card and rebooted,
and then it booted fine.

The problem is that I don't, as I just used the on board memory. I even resorted to Safe Mode several times, but it just froze when I approached settings menu and continued to do the endless boot-loop.
What ROM are you using? If you are using those with CWM Recovery, you can try rebooting to CWM (Vol up+Home+Power) and wipe your data/factory reset there.
If you don't have CWM Recovery, the best bet is to reflash your device using Odin. Is your device international or US?

I've been trying to fix the mounting issue lately. I recently installed the new Nero v3 and thought it might fix the problem. But turns out it didn't, so I did a little research and found several ways. I tried the mounting_fix_vibrant22.zip file, it didn't work either. Then I read that many people had succeeded by simply formatting the sdcard. I boot in into recovery mode > mount and storage > format internal sdcard (I assume this is where I got it all wrong -_-). I reboot my phone after that and that's when the boot loop appears.
I tried to boot it into download mode to ODIN but it was a fail too, it just keeps looping with the "Galaxy Samsung" logo on there. I assume my phone is bricked at this point.
Any help would be appreciated.

pull your battery out...wait a few seconds....put it back in.....open Odin and plug your usb into your PC first...then hold both vol buttons while plugging in the usb...your phone should go into download mode
^^^ THANK YOU SO MUCH. I was scared for the longest time. lol.
haahaa,
fyi, you can go to menu settings > sdcard and phone storage
there you can unmount and format each.... move all important files to your pc first.
I would then power off, download mode, odin using my alt method in the noob guide, flash cwr, make a backup, flash nero v3, enable voodoo.
Wi-Fi Tab 10.1, rooted and running Bonsai 0.2, all was well until it suddenly turned off on me (crashed). I turned it on, and as soon as I got past the lockscreen, a bunch of apps started force closing, and the box asking which launcher you want to use was flashing incredibly fast, on and off, so you could not use it. I also think I saw a "database error" message in the notification area.
I rebooted a few times with same result, so I rebooted to recovery, wiped data, wiped cache and wiped dalvik. Flashed Bonsai, and Tab runs fine now, with one exception. When it boots, for a few seconds, the top part of the screen (maybe the top 20% of the screen - a rectangle) is garbage - all different colors. The tab gets past this and works fine, but I am wondering if I should reformat the SD card, using the "Partition SD Card" option in the Advanced section of CWM.
And, if I do this, what are the correct settings?
Any thoughts?
That static screen you're seeing is a know issue. It won't hurt anything. But one way to get rid of it is...
1. Make a nandroid backup
2. Transfer that backup to your computer
3. Flash stock retail recovery ( http://db.tt/wSIvJp5 ) in download mode with Odin
4. Wipe data/factory reset in stock recovery
5. Transfer nandroid backup back to your tab.
6. Flash cmw
7. Restore your back up via cmw
No more static screen anymore.
Excellent, I will do that tonight.
Many thanks!!
Howdy,
I restored the NT to 1.4.0, then tried to install CWM via a variety of methods. All resulted in a temporary flash of the white CWM screen, then overlaid by a black screen with a Factory Reset Dialog. I just tried TWRP with the same result. Here is what I did:
1. Removed the SD card.
2. Held down the power and N until the screen turned black
3. Installed the SD card with the NT off.
4. Plugged in the power cord from the wall-wart.
5. White CWM or TWRP screen temporarily appears
6. Cursed Factory Reset dialog appears.
I have searched the forum, tried the different approaches, but still the same result. I rooted the NT once before and had an early version of CM7 installed. I restored to factory after WiFi and root stopped working.
Any suggestions?
Best,
MIke
Resolved - Used Universal Boot Loader and reinstalled.
This is going to be a little long, but I figured the more info the better. I recieved a TF201 from a friend of mine. He already had it rooted and running a custom ROM. It was loaded down with a bunch of stuff so I attempted a factory restore through CWM so I could start over and customize to my liking. Everything went fine (or so I thought) It booted back up to stock interface and still had root intact. I downloaded Astro FM from Play Store just to have a look around and make sure everything was intact. Everything seemed normal but suddenly rebooted and stuck at splash screen. Im able to boot into recovery still so first thing I tried was loading a backup as there were about 6 of them in the list of backups. None of them work, I just get "No files found" error. Next I tried to reload stock ROM with the Install zip from SD option. Also getting no files found error. somehow the SD card has nothing on it anymore even after copying a zip of the stock ROM downloaded from ASUS. The only other thing I can do that I know of is instead of loading recovery, is go into the cold boot menu with the 3 icons in the middle of the screen. By pressing nothing, it says that it is cold-booting Linux. This process just hangs and nothing happens. It does attempt to install MTP device drivers (which were already previously installed) but ends in an error (Failed). Selecting the middle option gives me "Starting Fastboot USB download protocol" but this also hangs and does nothing. Lastly the "Wipe Data" option completes it process and says "Wipe-Data done" but then also hangs and does nothing. At this point Im assuming its Hard Bricked and nothing can be done but I just wanted to see if anyone would be able to help. I have read a lot of similar posts on here but haven't been able to find anything that helps. Most other people with similar problems at least have a way to install from SD but my device wont recognize anything on the card. Does anyone know of anyway to fix this??
Hi there,
I am at a loss.
Zemana antivirus asked if I wanted to make SELinuxModeChanger a system app. I agreed.
Well, later on I realized that I didn't need that app anymore, so I tried to delete it via ES File Manager. Failed, but some files of the app became deleted anyway.
There was no problem till I restarted my phone. It boots the phone's logo then it stuck.
Safe mode doesn't work. Factory reset doesn't work.
I connected my phone to PC, but the computer doesn't see my phone.
Power and volume up held down power let of when logo boots. Power down again.
Phone writes "No command" -- I guess that's the chance when I should give it a command, but how and what?
Then press Power:
Menu
update from sd
update from adb
wipe/factory reset
restore user recovery
wipe catch
None of them work.
Phone created many recovery data... Each of them is useless.
Android 4.4.2 phone Navon D402 rooted with King Root.
Any suggestions?
You are my last and only hope.
Thanks in advance!
