First of all i am sorry, i think i did not post it in the right place...but then again i couldn’t find any better place...
Well topic tells it all i am really confused between the two phones which one should i get...
Price of both phones is the max my wallet will allow me to go for
In India Nokia Lumia 710 is available for 18k~350USD
And as Samsung reduced the galaxy r price its around 20k~390USD
What i do with a phone is
1) Text a lot...i mean seriously a lot
2) Would like to play good quality H.D games
3) Decent camera....this is fulfilled by both of them so no issue here
4) A nice screen though Lumia 710 has a bit smaller than galaxy r but then that compromise i can make
What’s confusing me is that
with Nokia Lumia 710 i get a very nice ui and i personally like its interface very much one of the main reason for going for this phone and then the sns and single inbox thing just appeals me.... though am not sure how well it handle H.D games and i know there is no front facing camera but i think i will hardly miss it cause not once i have made a video call
what appealed me in Samsung galaxy r is the dual core 1 ghz cpu...with NVidia tegra2 and the big screen size that’s the only thing that i like about it rather am not sure if i should go for Samsung or not my past experience with Samsung were not so good....also i personally (remember this just my opinion) hate the android ui as such and specially with the touch wiz of Samsung’s....even as an OS i don’t know why but it feels kinda cheap
Had there a phone in same price with spec as of galaxy r with mango as OS there would have been no doubt for me
So what i wanna know will Lumia 710 compete with performance of dual core cpu of galaxy r???
In H.D gaming and all that
Any help will be greatly be appreciated
p.s will Lumia 710 be eligible for updates like Apollo or winpho 8....too soon to ask but still....
Sliding about the OS, the Lumia will be faster than the Galaxy R, but as you mention gaming, the Galaxy R will be a better choice, it's raw power will come through there, and there are a lot more games for Android than there are for WP.
For what it's worth, Android has a combined inbox as well.
thank you for your reply by "sliding about OS" you meant browsing through menus right???
well i am not particularly concerned about the number of games currently present.....windows phone is rather a new platform lets give it time and am sure it will get atleast all the big titles in future...
now seriously considering galaxy r....thanks again
Yeah pretty much, and web browsing, it's fast at that too.
well as i read through the reviews by different source all say lumia or windows phone par se is optmized enough for all tasks and i heard browsing is pretty good in both of them aint it??

I purchased the 710 here in the USA on Thursday. It is not my primary phone. I bought it for 1 reason. I've never had a nokia before, and I saw the 900 at CES.
With that said, the 710 is a solid little phone. Battery life has been good. Browsing is fast. Windows phone is easy to get used to. Apps are easy to download. I've spent the last 7 months with various android phones...key here is the word various. Too many phones, too many versions of the os, too many bugs, too many excuses. Windows phone hardware is catching up. The os is already on track.
For me the 710 was very cheap, 19 USD. I would have paid the full price.
Hi, i was wondering if there is any option or any ROM or any guide to make this device Android? thanks in advance
Yes, it is called HTC Sensation XL.

Why does everyone answer this question in this forum the same? Maybe people don't want to buy an HTC Sensation XL, since they have an amazing and great(better) looking phone already.
I also would love to see Android on my Titan, since I'm not that content with wp 7.5.

Because WP comes with so much security around the bootloaders and NAND that we are not even able to interop unlock the phones like Titan, so dreaming about Android is not even on the table yet.
Thus anyone not content with wp 7.5, can either wait 5-6 months for WP8 or sale their Titan right now, while you can sell it at good price and grab a HTC Sensation XL. It's exactly as it says in my signature too.
By the time we might get around modding the Titan in a few months time, WP8 will come with even further securities and features. I for one, would rather enjoy the WP8 features than not-upgrade because there might be a possibility of running Android.
HTC Sensation XL is EXACTLY the same phone, different software. I own a Sensation XL, it is sitting in a drawer since after week 2 of purchase. Hence I know its ditto same, only running Gingerbread (ICS was promised to me by the sales guy in November. He said I should have it around Christmas). There aren't any custom ICS (stable and safe) ROMs for that phone either and it's been 6 months.

XDA Marketplace - Trade in your device and swap or Sell one. If you got your HTC Titan free from your operator, you will obviously be better off trading it for Sensation XL.

No, it is not.
The site you're linking to is talking about the original HTC Titan which was the code name for a CDMA Windows Mobile 6.x device on Sprint and Verizon is the US.
Don't confuse code names with retail product names.
It is possible. You just need get all the drivers and know how to pack an Android ROM based on an old hardware like Nexus One. Sensation XL ROM won't help because the internal chipsets are totally different (they are newer dual-core variant). Titan contains similar hardware capability like Nexus One. So a modern Android OS like Gingerbread or ICS will run like crap on it (I knew this because my Galaxy S2 running 1.2G Dual core with 1GB RAM can't even run as smooth as the Titan runing WP7). Hence no one in their right mind will waste their time to create a Titan Android ROM unless you want to do it yourself.
It is possible but not probable. If you want Android experience, buy an Android phone.

Nope, not possible at this time. If you want to write a new bootloader, maybe you'll be able to pull it off.
I seriously hope that this is never ever not ever can never be never possible.
Guess I'm just getting tired of the Android crowd continually asking this about every single device in existence. OK! Android can be installed on a variety of devices! We get it already!

GPS has nothing to do with mobile OS. It's an app. Try a different GPS app on your WP7.
On the other hand, my super dupper Dual-core Samsung Galaxy S2 with 1 GB RAM can never match any of my WP7 phones with signal core and 512MB RAM for the smoothness of UI.
Google's free services (including Nav) are the only good things about Android. The rest of OS is just junk.
htc titan x310e aka HTC Eternity, HTC Bunyip, HTC Ultimate
hello,
Q: "Is it possible to install android on HTC Eternity, HTC Bunyip, HTC Ultimate=> HTC Titan x310e is the name of that smartphone in Croatia!? and if its possible where to look for the ROM!?".
i hope someone can help me on this forum, since i cant find answer anywhere, through websearches alway pops up some other shartphone or ROM.
thanks in advance!
no man...its not possible to install android on htc titan/eternity....but its possible to sell your phone with wp7 and buy a android phone!!!!!
smartphones are not so expensive anymore....no android port...not today..not tomorrow...and i think it will be never!

Thanks for the laugh guys! I've been around since well Windows Mobile 6.0. I had/have a Sensation and a Skyrocket (Galaxy SII). I've been over to the dark side for god 2 years now! Just got a free Titan II and decided I would leave my sim card in it for a couple months since it's got the LTE radio. So far I'm liking it. Really liking it.
Now to just break MS security unlock the boot loader and Nand write some custom loader oh wait I KNOW I'll port over clockwork mod. Then I will round up all the drivers modify them if needed and compile a android build. Might as well start with ICS since it's the newest. So in a year or two I should be done and have android running on this mofo at least half as well as it ran on my HD2 )~

The only thing i want right now is ability to have IM's working in a background If WP 7.8 (or IM developers) gives me that then i'll be happy even without WP8.
Ofcourse, WP 8 sounds really cool but probably i'll get a new phone for it once they come out. Higher screen resolution, more RAM and dual core CPU definitely won't harm

Nobody have ever told that current WP7 devices will get an upgrade to WP8! I'vе been writing here in the forum for moths that there will be no such upgrade but nobody listens! The new WP8 is based on Windows RT, not on WinCE. The new features won't be ported to WP7. I'll be selling my Lumia 800 too very soon but it is not Microsoft's fault that Nokia released its "new" models so late. And if you think for a sec, when WP8 is released near the end of this year it will be nearly an year after the release of the first Lumia phones! One year is more than enough device life if you ask me! Me personally rarely use a device even a full year!
So don't be pissed at Nokia or Microsoft. Nobody stepped on your throat telling you to buy the dying dinosaur from the shelf!
Fail! Fail!
Its good to hear that Microsoft atleast considered WP 7.8 for the current devices...
And guess what? WP8 supports native code apps. WP 7.8 wouldn't.
That means, no guarranteed future app support. Now, that's bad.
Had higher expectations, and this how Microsoft treats us.

Some features will be coming and I'm pretty certain the tile size will be included for sure. Other features are hardware based and can't be ported.
http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/20/3...8-upgrade-no-windows-phone-8-existing-devices
That's the fragmentation that every WP user bragged not have and it's worse then android because WP8 applications simple wont work in WP7.8 because of a software problem, not for hardware limitations. It's a mess.
I hope i get VoIP support and all native features that don't require hardware since future apps compatibility isn't going to happen.

Well, the home experience is what I'm mostly looking forward to have on my Lumia. We're not getting much more than that, but with the current hardware anything more would have been pointless. Im not pissed, im disappointed, quite frankly anyone else who has a lumia 900/800 right now can have all the right to be pissed, they trusted nokia to have a good phone with good support and they simply didnt deliver, this way you destroy brand recognition and brand value. It all seems to be the plan of mr Elop to make Nokia worthless so that Miscrosoft can buy it.... Its misuse of brand trust.
About you using your device less than a year, one of two things comes to my mind: 1. you obviously have a lot of money 2. you dont spend your money wisely
And please dont take this as a rant or insult, but most people (especially in todays wicked economy) would prefer to have something they dearly paid for, for more than a year.

nokia was dead for years and they came back to life because of this WP ... with or without WP8 lumia will be usable for at least another year...same thing happened to devices stuck on Android 2.1, or those not able to use for example Siri .... this is another example of how the software market works together with the hardware producers ... you buy a pc today because of a game and tomorrow comes another game with higher requirements ....

It's a good question but Windows Phone 8.x is based on the NT kernal and no longer will the CE be used which necessitated the change in hardware spec changes. I'm thinking the HTC Zenith which is slated to be the HTC Titan III will be the best candidate if there is to be a port. The negative is the Titan II - HTC Radiant. To date there is no HSPL for that device being the SPL is next to impossible to break at this time. It is likely if there is to be a WP8.x port it will be on the HTC HD2 (Leo) which is a legend among the XDA community and as many of us know it has ran every OS known to man including bits and pieces of Windows 8 RT (not W8 Pro) from windows tablets. Personally, I would like T-Mobile to support their Wi-Fi Calling app on WP8.x platform but currently it's being run on Samsung's Galaxy series devices.
well if they will be able to port wp8 on hd2 hardware why not titan hardware too? none of these devices are wp8 hardware either , improper screen resolution, CE instead of NT, I love my titan and it is a frankenstined phone, what with all my nokia apps, homebrew apps, registry hacks, I have so much freedom with my titan I can't adopt any wp8 hardware just yet

It's a nice theory but the Titan I has a fraternal twin, the Titan II. At first glance you say to yourself with the exception of a 16 megapixel and a LTE radio it's the same device; nope, to date it's impossible to HSPL. It's all in the hardware; it was a miracle the Titan I...some of them anyway...could be HSPL'd. As you have read more than our fair share cannot. The HD2 and all its parents and siblings were "old school" - Windows Mobile 5.x/6.x; they were all from a different generation of devices and attitude. I mean there's something to be said when you now need a carrier's permission to subsidy unlock your phone; it's illegal now...technically.

It will "never" happen on the Titan (driver reasons alone). Its possible for the HD2. _but doubt it due to performance reasons.
i see
well I don't like any of the new wp8 devices out there, they each lack something I need, some don't have removable batteries, some don't have a 4.7 " screen, some are too fat

Well the next wave of phones should be coming out within the next 4-8 months from now. Mobile World Congress is just around the corner. It's possible you see something you like then...
I'm personally waiting for the Nokia EOS to be announced.
But anywho, just to let you know...the smartphone market is changing. Less and less phones are seeing removable batteries and less storage onboard (due to rising demand in cloud storage). It's possible you might never see another Windows Phone with some of these feats.

I will have to talk to some folks up on the Windows Phone 8 forum. but more specifically I want to talk to them about Skype being "baked" in and how well it works as a dialer on the WP8.x devices. If it is as good as T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling app on the Samsung Galaxy S3/Note I & II then I will take a serious look at it but not before then. It just boggles the mind why apps are unable to run in background on their platforms and bluetooth compatibility is so poor.

Its a totally awesome phone. Most htc phones have something about them that is noticeably lacking... But not this model. Even today it is just a kick ass device.
But whatever you do, don't buy the attached version. There is a reason they are $100 cheaper on eBay. Basically ZERO Dev support. The international version gets all the goods. Sucks too because the att version works at full speed with any gsm carrier
Buy it dude!! HOX+ is one of the legendary devices.. It's camera is excellent.. on par with the current generation devices..
But on the other side, HOX+ will eventually lose its battery backup capacity easily.. and it becomes hot on continuos usage.. so think carefully before you buy..
'Be careful what you wish for'
Good luck:laugh:

Dont even bother buying this device , i have the AT&T version 64 GB , camera sucks on both INT and At&t , and the device also heats up on games. I have rooted and using custom rom. Buy some new cellphones. Further it had Tegra3 for which there are no more updates available. Its processor is based on 40nm die architecture which is old. Dont buy cellphones with Nvidia Chipsets.

It's a great phone, I've always loved it. But there are better phones, many.
True about the Tegra 3, it heats up while gaming. Battery life is not that great (especially on mine, 2yo).
Camera is acceptable, but I wouldn't call it great. The screen however, is like one of best out there.
Differences between the One X and the One X+ is the internal memory and an upgraded Tegra 3 (for the +).
Additionally also Glosnass support for the +
It's old tech, wouldn't buy it right now. Buy a new generation phone with a newer processor, because the nVidia chipset in this one is outdated.

You must be sick to be recommending not buying Nvidia chipsets. Tegra 3 is one of the best GPUs available right now leaving alone the Tegra 4 which is only available on the Nvidia Shield and other limited number of devices.
I've used some varieties of cell phones and i've found the camera quality one of the best in this device. Running a quad core clocked at 1.7 Ghz and expecting it to not heat up? You must be bull****ting here.
Please dont defame a good phone just because you don't like it for some frickin reason.
Buddy you should update yourself since this phone is stuck at 4.2.2 while Samsung S3 is getting kitkat updates. Further huawei P7 doesnt even heat up on games like San Andreas since my friend and i compared it. One x + no doubt is a lovely phone but please in 2014 dont buy it. Further game experience is laggy. I am using it so i know better..
Goodluck.

It's actually one of the worst now. There are better devices than the X+ by miles. It's based on 2/3? Year old technology. The device is now pretty much classed low or barely middle class, due to no more driver support also we are running on an old kernel with little hope of seeing a recent one... IMO if someone has a choice of devices to get, this one wouldn't be on that list.
Not really

You are bound to make such remarks when you compare old technologies with the new ones. If adopting your terminologies, it should imply that every device should be called as "low class" and/or "worst" at some point of time which is very inappropriate and misleading. You make it sound like upgrading a desktop computer all the time whenever a new hardware peripheral arrives.
In 2004, a set of several devices were released namely HTC Magician, I-Mate JAM, O2 XDA II-Mini and others which took about 3-5 years for them to develop. Later on, upgrading and upscaling to newer models took hardly 1-2 years. Apple's Iphone has had a similar story. In this respect, we should appreciate the older devices more in terms of advent and innovation, otherwise we woudn't have been here fiddling with our quad-cored phones( And Octas ). Personally, I-Mate JAM and Nokia Communicator 9500 are the best devices i've ever had and the older technology does not make it any different. Also, i believe that the older devices had some undefined quality which many people agree with.
In the same principles, there are some devices which some users like and prefer regardless of the fact that whether the company has stopped providing updates and/or support or not. There are too many factors to take into account other than the technology. Speaking in terms of benchmark and power, my preferred devices would easily give up before yours.

Well to expand on we have both said, when a new "high end" device comes out, the older one goes to the low/mid of the high scale then just drops down.....It's how I view it anyway, like the ONE X that was king once upon a time....Now that and with the X+ it's essentially great for a backup (Also the X+ is great for backup). But this is all my opinion on it all, everyone will have different takes on it so I don't want to force my view point. In a way though we are both right.
But hey my devices are a
Nokia 3310
HTC Desire C
X+
Find 5
all have their pro's and con's though more con's for the 1st two

That is very understandable. Different people look at different things differently. Depends on the user's perception because many would support your beliefs and many would mine as well. And we should expect that from a benchmark-hungry developer like you. Developments in technology open gates for you, so yes you should be craving for better devices now and then.
I feel ashamed, knowing the fact that i own more devices than you but am not really a developer. As they say, quantity deceives quality. BTW my old man still loves his Nokia 5190.

I used to have a lot more, but I sold them, including my Nexus 5 my One V HTC Desire HTC Wildfire ZTE BLADE Iphone 3gs to name a few victims in my quest for not being bored
Also benchmarks? PFFFT fcuk those, the real benchmarks come from using the device properly not from some stupid app(s)

Is it just me or do you really sound like a kid?
Haha, yes i mean "Power-hungry" by "benchmark" because that is exactly what keeps some people going!
Electronic hobbyists like me have entirely different tastes.
BTW, i just flashed your latest nightly yesternight and need to take my precious ass over that CM11 thread there to discuss some issues.

So, how old are you and what are you doing professionally? Should never judge a book by it's cover - for both of us.

Just want you to know something. Don't always be so full of yourself and be nice to those who are nice to you.
