About westcrips resurrection v8.1 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm a touch confused on the installation for this. Throughout reading the dev thread, I see a lot of people talking about installing the framework... but it seems to do more with language packs than anything else...
So my question is, my language is English US, and i don't need any other language packs, so do I still need to install the framework?

I'm one of V8.1 users. If you mean language only...
After installation, languages I can see from the setting are English (both US and UK) and Chinese. As I didn't flash the language pack, I can say you just need to flash the ROM. In addition, English is most used language across countries in this world so believe English is default in each ROM/release.
Hope I'm clarified.

Yeah, that's what I was a bit confused about because some people are talking about the "framework" (I think the file is called westcriptsframework-res.apk) and then some are relating that to a language pack.. and since westcript's introduction post for the rom is unorganized, it makes things quite confusing. ><

I installed this ROM without any of that Framework stuff no problems. Just make sure you follow the instructions to a tee

[require]chs clean rom

CHS CLEAN ROM ,i think a lot of users are eager to that!
I suggest Mods to do a Wish/Request ROM thread so that way we will avoid so many new threads for ROMs.

CHS = Chinese Simplified, right?
I am not sure there are so many chefs here at XDA-Developers that are interested in chinese ROMs, it seems to me this here is more of a english + western languages community.
There seem to be some pretty active chinese language forums similar to this one here, though.
My Chinese unfortunately still totally sucks (working on that!), but as far as I can tell it seems to me that some of these places might be interesting to you:

I wish I could understand even 10% of what those guys are posting, since I am looking how to get traditional Chinese input (Zhuyin / bopomofo) to a english language ROM...
many thx

注音输入法
:d注音输入法是一种以注音符号来输入汉字的中文输入法。因为台湾小学基础教育就由注音符号教起,所以此输入法可被称为台湾电脑使用者最为熟悉的中文输入法,只要能读就能输入。

Oh, I thought in those forums people would be doing pretty much the same as here in XDA, just in chinese. Well, you can actually read what's in there, so probably you are right ^_^ Sorry, then I don't know how to help further. Maybe once I get the hang of cooking myself, there could be some way I can help. Is the stock rom in CHS available for download? If so, do you have a link?
Yes, I also think I am not native chinese. I am afraid I am more of a Waiguoren / Laowei For the input method that I'm interested in I had started this thread here, there also is a picture:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659970
Basically, it is similar to the hanyu pinyin that you probably learned in school (assuming you are native Chinese), only it is not using latin letters, but another set of very simple characters, one for each sound. Today it's used still in Hongkong and Taiwan, where the traditional Chinese characters, and not the simplified ones, are common.

Can you find a link to the original(!) HTC Windows 6.5 ROM in your language (CHS)? That should be the starting point I guess. I didn't really search for CHS ROMs, yet, but I found a CHT ROM from Hong Kong. SO I am sure somewhere in the Chinese Forums there should be the link to a CHS ROM.
This ROM (I guess) you would then load in a Kitchen like osKitchen, then remove all stuff you don't want, rebuild, and then you have a clean CHS ROM.

[Q] looking for a good rom

Hellow,
I'm lookingfor a fast ,stable rom that comes with option to have full hebrew menus, and full hebrew support.
I'v been looking for such rom for over a month and couldnt find one.
I'll be thankfull if someone will help me.
These two Im sure off that have Hebrew support, they're both Gingerbread though so make sure to carefully read all the instructions before flashing.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021383
If you want 2.2-2.21 roms the EDT Trigger and Bi-winning both have hebrew and arabic support. One requires to flash the addon which is in that posting.
thanks,
but do you have a rom with hebrew menues also to advice me?
+1 for simplyhoney3.5 revolution .ive been running it for a while, fast, stable, and he has hebrew for it .just read carefully before flashing follows step by step dont skip one.then once you have the rom up and running .towards the bottom of the page you will see the hebrew add on pack to download and install.i use this for daily drive and have had no prob at all. the devolper of the rom is very helpfull so if you have any trouble .just post in the rom page .he is very quick to answer you and if not there is alot of help on here .so good luck!

Brilliant thread title.
Try MIUI For Galaxy S II Q&A or [MOD][MIUI] Arabic/Hebrew/Farsi + RTL reading/writing for SGS2.
thx brather , but the first thread contain multilang. package (but arabic not included) , second thread i already tried before but no use just i get my arabic letters joined in contacts list but still not have arabic keyboard
I think you missed the point of my links, the first one being the place for questions and answers relating to MIUI. Anyway, do you actually have an arabic keyboard installed?
i know that the first link about question and answers related miui rom and there was one question about installing multilang package but this package not including arabic , anyway , about yr question , no i havnt arabic keyboard installed , what to do

You're still missing this? Just because your question isn't answered in there, doesn't mean you shouldn't ask there, rather than making a new thread.
Anyway, if you don't have an arabic keyboard installed, how are you expecthing it to work? Install a keyboard from the market which supports arabic.
A search of "arabic keyboard" on the Android Market.
first , thx for yr help
second , making new thread better coz its attract more attention
third , about external keyboard , i lnow i can install arabic one , but that wasnt my question , am searching for miui keyboard which can reach it through ( system /language &input setting /android keyboard settings/input languages)

I think you're not understanding. The native MIUI keyboard clearly doesn't support arabic. You need to install a 3rd party keyboard, which you enable through changing your input method in settings -> language and keyboard.

[RQ] European languages in Lewa rom

Hello guys, i have problem. 'm not newbie in android system, but i am not developer too so, here is the thing, can someone add european languages to LEWA rom? is it hard, or is it easy to make? bcs lewa is only in english and chinese, and this rom is very good and popular, so it would be great to see european languages in it.
Its not really hard that couldnt be done. But its troublesome and need alot of work. U need to decompile each and every apks, modify xml to translate every language string to your preferred language and compile back. Thats how miui got unofficial english pack long time ago.

Hmm, I would love to do this. I can decompile stuff but I don't know what to edit :-( do you think you could pm or write it here what has to be edited? And another question is, there are only Chinese and English languages in keyboard settings but there are all kind of languages available in the web. How can I get them into the Rom? Where is this File that makes a Rom speak multilanguage?
Help would be very welcome!
Greetings!
(For this I would blow the dust from my Ubuntu Laptop)

Better yet u guys could contact directly the chinese dev and offer them to translate officially.

Guys , if it will take ur time, and its troublesome, dont do it i can wait for the update from chinese developers < if it wil be?> anyway thanks for your help, greetings from Poland ^^
Yes ok..
But where is this file that applies system wide?? I mean, I don't want to change a name of an app.. I need the Rom to switch from English to, in my case, German.
Desperately going to ask google now
