Hey guys, I did a really stupid thing out of curiosity.
Phone is Galaxy Ace, firmware Android 2.3.6. Rooted.
What I did:
Manage applications > tapped Market > tapped Uninstall.
After that, it says 'Uninstall not successful'
There's still the Market icon, when I tap it, it says 'Application is not installed on your phone'
How do I get it back? The 'Android Market' app in market.android.com says it's incompatible with my phone. How can that be? I've downloaded several apps and games already using that app.
Now how am I suppose to get Market back in my phone?
Put this in your system/app and set permission to rw-r--r-- then reboot.
*delete vending.apk if exist replacing by this one.

Ok this might be a stupid question but is there anyway to make this work on the mytouch 4g ? I moved from the vibrant to the 4g and I really dont want to use a normal task killer . I really liked how this worked . Thanks in advance !
Will this work on axura 2.2.5.7?
Update: I tried to install this but it didn't work. :-(

I downloaded and installed it right from this thread....didn't use root explorer. What is the correct way to install this, if mine was wrong.

Root Explorer or adb push to /system/app. Don't try to install like a normal app.
I just installed root explorer. Is this [LINK] a good tutorial on how to use RootExplorer... I couldn't find a step by step tutorial on xda.
root explorer is easy to use.
its just like using the stock files, but you can see other things that require root.
if your installing a app, and it won't let you install by just clicking it, then you go to the file, menu, copy/move, then go to system/app/ then paste/move it there, and then get out of that app, and in your app drawer, the app should be installed.
I'm running Cyanogen Mod on my Vibrant, and trying to get this APK installed. Using Root Explorer, I copied/pasted the APK to the system/app directory, but this didn't do anything.
Other things I tried:
- Opening all permissions to the APK that is in the system/app directory
- Rebooting
- Verifying that "allow non-market apps" is checked
- Using Root Explorer to browse to app, selecting it and choosing "install"
Nothing is working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this an incompatibility between the Task Manager "JobManager.apk" and Cyanogen?
Thanks in advance for anyone's advice.

More than likely, its an incompatibility issue between I'm assuming a 2.2 ROM and a CM7 which is 2.3.

hi there.
i have a problem, i removed LG App Advisor from my rooted OO, but the program is still in the menu and it is still working (like nothing happened),
i used the terminal emulator proceedure remounting the file system and then removing the program, this proceedure succeded with every other program, but seems useless against AppAdvisor...and i don't know why, but since i'm a newbie could be my fault...what should i do to remove permanently the app?
Try TitaniumBackup and restart phone after procedure.
Go to Market, download Root Explorer, launch it click on top on mount r/w then go to /system/app and remove App Advisor (I don't remember the exact name, but it has to contain app advisor .apk) from there.

i' ve the same problem...i try with root explorer but app advisor is still there after reboot!!!
help me...thanks
i just uninstalled mine and noticed that there was a update downloded to it.
i uninstalled the update first, then i deleted the .apk with root explorer. worked like a charm.
I rooted my X10 and removed most of the bloatware that AT&T puts on it. However, I don't know how to get rid of 'Mobile Video' icon link from the app menu.
Does anyone know what I would need to do in order to remove it?
Thanks for any help that might be provided!
you need to root the phone, then install root explorer. go to system/app and delete the apk's for the apps you don't want anymore.
simply download the root explorer D:

I've already rooted the phone and used Root Explorer to get rid of almost all the AT&T bloatware. 'Mobile Video' is the only one that remains.
The thing about 'Mobile Video' is that it's not so much an app, but an icon link that opens up the browser to go to an AT&T site.
I can find an APK file here:
/system/etc/semc/preset/app/persistent/Mobile Video.apk
But there is noting related to 'Mobile Video' that I'm aware of in any of these usual directories:
/data/app-private/
/data/app/
/data/dalvik-cache/
/data/data/
/system/app/
So I'm not sure how to get rid of this particular icon from the app menu.
I guess it's just something that bugs me.
Any AT&T X10 owners out there been successful with removing it?
Thanks again!
I used the BlueMonkey theme by Jivy26, however I didn't like the GoSMSPro. I deleted the app via titanium backup, and used File Explorer to confirm it was deleted. However, it still shows up as being installed in the market place and I have the icon in my app list (although it says the application is not installed on my phone) How do I manusally remove the icon from the app list?

I guess the best thing to do is to reinstall the app and uninstall from the task manager or go to settings-applications and uninstall from there.

i have tried that actually...it just uninstalls forever, and never actually deletes it.

Make sure that the app is not running in the background or as a service.
Reboot the phone and go into settings>applications>running
services and see if you can find the offending app there.
If you can find it there, click on it and select STOP".
Then if all goes well you will be able to do a complete unistall.
Not running as a service =\ Is there a place where those icons are located on the phone itself? I could delete it through root explorer if I could find it.

icons for applications are stored within the apk itself....if the apk is gone, the app is gone.
try uninstalling them and then wipe cache/dalvik cache in CWM

If you know how to use root explorer to delete files
you can go into root of phone /system/apps and find
the offending APK name and delete with root explorer.
Some apps will have a "com." before the actual app name
so look for that too.
Good luck!
Hi, can you please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong?
You see, using Root Explorer, I was able to remove the browser.apk (by moving to sd card) from /system/app, then got a quickics.apk, renamed it as browser.apk, then placed it unto /system/app, then changed the permission accordingly...
When I rebooted the phone, Android Starting App occurs but when I tap it to open, it force closes on me...
What am I doing wrong? or for that matter, is what I did or intention possible?

yes.. I am on ICS custom rom.. i just happen to like the quick ics browser more than the browser included in the custom rom.. thus I did that...
when I just left the stock browser and installed quick, there was no problem.. the problem just occurred when I tried replacing the stock browser...
i know this is not really "life or death" for me but for some reason, it just bothers me to have an app in my app list that I do not use... hehehe
Buddy dont replace the browser.apk just delete it and put quickics.apk on system/app with proper permission. Restart your device.hope it will work

No just copy it, fix permissions in root explorer and reboot. But don't rename it to browser.apk. Reboot and normally it should work?!
Hmm okay that's strange, are you using the latest version? Maybe delete it again, download it from playstore, install it and make it to a system app using titanium backup (there should be an option on titanium backup if the app is installed). Look if that maybe solves the problem
You should not replace the stock android browser.apk as it is integrated into the system and removing it or replacing it will probably result in force closures and your system might become unstable.
Just add the quickics.apk reboot into clockworkmod and select advanced and select fix permissions. No need to change permissions via root explorer if you have clockworkmod.
And Press thanks if I've helped you!

not working on both accounts... still having FC...
i am giving thanks to all those who replied to me though...
If it works as a non system app in your phone then it should work perfectly normal as a system app provided the permissions are set right and the stock browser isn't removed . I don't know where you are going wrong
Just to be correct about the permission part, The permission has to be set as ,
User rw-
Group r--
Others r--
hit thanks if I've helped!
