Samsung Galaxy S2 baseband question - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, samsung said that android 4.0.X will be released for S2, its been released for a lot of basebands but not for mine. My Baseband is I9100XXKI4, and android 4.0.3 hasnt been released for my baseband. If i update my firmware with another firmware that isnt the same as my baseband, can i have any problems? And could i change my baseband to another baseband that has 4.0.3 available? Thank You.

Do a search for Checkfus on here. That will be able to tell you the most recent available firmware for your phone/region/carrier.

You have the same version I had when I bought my SGS2 in December via Phones4U on O2. This is not O2 firmware, it is Samsung's firmware. And that is the latest publicly released version. So annoying.....That is why my attention has been driven to XDA The latest stock firmware you can install is XWKL1, however I recommend a custom firmware as stock firmwares are buggy, battery not-friendly, and have tens of useless apps...
stock firmwares are buggy????????
That is nonsense .

what is the latest version of android for samsung galaxy s2 before ics?

i have samsung galaxy s2 i9100 and i have android 2.3.5 i know there is a 2.3.6 but kies doesn't show an update option.is that ok?
baseband version i9100xxki4
2.3.6. Your carrier may not have released a 2.3.6 rom, which may explain why you don't see any OTA update to 2.3.6.

I depends on a number of factors. What country, What carrier. etc.
Your operator may even have missed out 2.3.6 completey jumping stright to 4.0.3.
Here's the link to Samfirmware to check.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
Or you can download checkfus and and run the .exe.

If its showing there was indeed an update, you have a couple of options,
1....Check that your running the latest Kies firmware
2 Download and install the 2.3.6 firmware yourself using Odin.

[Q] i9100XXKE4 still running on 2.3.3 - how to update?

A friend of mine has a samsung galaxy s2 with basebandversion I9100XXKE4 and when i looked which version of android it was running i was surprised to see version 2.3.3 was installed. Because i had version 2.3.5 before i used another baseband version update to go to ICS ... Looking arround on the web i could not find a more recent version of Android for her phone. (btw also still no official ICS version for the i9100XXKI3) So I had on my phone a baseband version I9100XXKI3 and i updated using Odin with an ICS package which had I9100XXLPR baseband No problems until now. Now running CM9.
You guys think i can also use this (xxLPR)package to update her I9100XXKE4 ?
We both live in HK. Only difference is she is on PCCW and i am on Smartone

XX ROM series had plenty of official updates after 2.3.3, among them three ICS ROMs. Latest is LPW.
Just follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
and pick up whatever ROM you feel like (you may also follow your product code).

Yes, you can. Only thing is if you flash stock firmware for another region you may have problems getting OTA updates for your region in the future. Which isn't a huge problem as you can also simply flash these via Odin when they're released if you do have difficulties.
I've had a look at Checkfus (PC version) & it tells me most recent update for I9100/Hong Kong was ZSLPG on 06/04/2012. So I guess you could go with LPR like you did, or you could get Checkfus & use this ICS build, which might mean no problems with OTA updates in the future (but no guarantees).

[Q] How to update to 4.0.4

Hi, I want to update my SGS2 to 4.0.4 I'm on 4.0.3. Which is the best stock room with 4.0.4? I bought it unlocked.
There is my room:
Model: GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: I9100UHLPE
Build number: IML74K.UHLPE
Kernel: stock.
I dont know which region is my room, so I dont know which version of 4.0.4 is better for me.
If I change my region, I will able to receive OTA updates? or via KIES?
Thanks in advance.

Firstly its "Rom" not "Room".
Second, there are plenty of topics on stock roms and how to flash the. Use search or browse button.

[Q] Replace leaked JB 4.1.2 firmware with official one

Hi Guys
My GT-I9100 S2 currently runs on the leaked firmware 4.1.2, baseband version is I9100XXLS6, build number is JZO54k.I9100XXLSJ and CSC is LS1(COA).
I'd like to fix the buggy wireless and frozen screen when locked hence I want to know if I can replace it with an official firmware from any other region? So that it can get updates from OTA or Kies?

Figured it out, flashed with the Hong Kong TGY official JB 4.1.2 firmware and managed to change the CSC code to TGY as well. It fixed the above two issues and I can now get updates via OTA and Kies.
