Can someone help me with the OTA? - HTC Rezound

Ok guys, I am getting super confused on the development side of the forum. There are tons of threads with all kinds of different info.
Hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction here. Here is my situation:
I am currently on the ICS version of CleanRom. I also get that whole mainver error when I try to flash different kernels, etc.
With that being said, what are the exact steps that I need to take to get the OTA? I don't know anything about ADB, so hopefully there is a way to do it without that knowledge.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

there's a thread in the development section that you need to follow concerning mainver. That give step by step. If your rooted you had to become familiar with adb.

When op opens 3-4 threads about the same thing its no longer laziness, its a clear lack of effort to take the time to learn something that not only has been posted several times but is a method used by several phone models.

[Q] Proper steps to upgrate to ICS

Hi,
I have been coming to this site for a long time. You all are very helpful. I never have to post threads because usually someone has already asked the questions I have. However, this time I cannot find a solution to my problem.
Can someone please give me the steps necessary to upgrade from a rooted 2.3.4 with Amon Ra recovery to the latest ICS update? I have heard you need to re-lock your phone and stuff. I am not sure how to do that and would like to not brick my phone.
Thank you in advance. I'm sure this will help many other people as well!
Try searching and reading through this thread. If the answer isn't there, don't be afraid to ask. These guys will help you out.

New DNA with Questions

I hope I posted this in the rigth section, if I didnt I appologize. So, I used to have an HTC Thunderbolt and yesterday I upgraded to the DNA and I love it. But I do have a few questions. See I want to root it, but I dont want to have to hassle with all the custom ROM stuff again. Plus all I really see a need for me is to have root access. So I did do some looking and came across these links
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36976137
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996389
Im still a little new to the rooting scene and just want to make sure I know what im doing before I do it. So here are my questions.
1) If I root will I still be able to install the OTA updates that come on my phone?
2) Are the two links above both rooting methods, just different ways of doing it?
3) If yes to 2, is there a current "best" way to root the DNA?
4) If I decide to un-root, is there a way to do that? (im sure there is and a guide even)
I think that is all the questions I have for now. Thank you very much and keep up the great work here.

Follow the first link you posted because in order to unlock the bootloader you need the super CID hack then after you do the super CID hack go to the htcdev.com page and follow those instructions and then either flash a rooted rom or the Subusybox.zip to get root
To un-root simply lock the bootloader and run the RUU file

1) In short, no. To get the ota you'll have to install the stock recovery, and maybe relock, etc, etc. The easiest way is just to flash a rom based off the ota
2)Yes, but the second links to a thread which then in turn links to the first thread you in posted. Just use the first link you posted
3)See #2
4)ruu and fastboot oem lock, if your s off then its a little more complicated, but you will be able to be 100% stock as opposed to 99%

Thank you guys very much for that info. I greatly appreciate it. One last question for now. I have seen the term "S-off" a few times, what exactly is that?

It means that the Security Flags have been turned OFF (S-OFF) and it allows you to write unsigned.img's and do other stuff to parts of the device that with Security ON you wouldn't be able too such as writing to the boot partition while in recovery, flash radios to the radio partition

Need help with rooting

Alright guys...so it's been a while since i've rooted a phone (Thunderbolt) and I need some help being pointed in the right direction. I'm running stock on the latest update right now, i'm not sure if this new update changed the possibility of using the latest rooting methods. So right now what steps should I take? S-off first? bootloader? Idk if you guys could help that would be great!
bump
Yes, the update nullified current rooting methods. There is not root or unlock currently available.
If you haven't taken the update, then go to the "original android development" subforum, and look for the top sticky thread for s-off. That will guide you through rooting, unlocking the bootloader, changing recovery, and then finally s-off.
Since you've taken the ota you can't root your phone.
But if you hadn't taken the OTA then the steps would be supercid>unlock bootloader>s off. In that order. Each step requires the previous. But s off us not necessary to root, so you could do the first 2 steps then install a custom recovery from there.

dang, thanks guys. am I just gonna have to wait till there's a rooting process for the new update then?
Unfortunately yes. I wrote up a guide that solves your other questions, but since you're updated, it's a bit of a moot point.

on same rom since '12. help me update software to '14

Can someone give me some guidance on which direction I should take here? I've been rooted (did it myself) for over 2 years and using the same Rom since late 2012.. since then I haven't been updating any because I liked the ROM. Lately the phone has been bugging a bit and I feel I need to update everything.
Attached are pics of my setups and where this phone software stands. I attempted obtaining Soff via a few different methods 5 months ago but something failed in each attempt, so I gave up and reverted back to the same Rom where I had stability.
I've been reading about different methods of updating my radios and applying a new Rom, but with so much different information out here, I've gotten confused quite easily.
Should I unroot and go back to stock to get a clean slate? And if so, what's the most up to date unroot method? Last one I saw was 2012 version.
Can someone show me the steps I need to take to avoid bricking my phone to get the latest software? I read about sense 5 a bit and that looks interesting. I also read the thread recently about the guy that purchased a used EVO LTE and his experiences. I don't know if his experience applies to my situation since his Rom looks to be newer than mine.
All help and pointers are appreciated.
I would start in the thread below:

Thanks for the reply. I'll look at sense 5 and see if that's the way I want to go. I first need to get soff before doing anything.

Consider trying this method for S-off:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163013
It works with older software and is very easy to use. You will retain S-off if you do decide to update via RUU method as well.
