because i thought the s2 came out in canada just when honeycomd came out so i just automatically assumed that the phone came with the upgraded firmware already

Uhhh...
Seems your a bit confused here. See, Honeycomb 3.0 is only for tablets. But I guess, wait for ICS.

Hello Mr.impatient
Indian official ICS will be released this week in Kies.So just wait 1-2 more days.
I will not comment about that Indian ICS which is already here in some thread.
Indian official ICS release will not come through OTA.
It will be only through Kies.

I am just a little skeptic about using Odin (scared rather). And now that I'm on 2.3.6, zergRush exploit doesn't work due to which I'm unable to root. Hence waiting for the update through Kies.

I'm on the Ressurection Remix Rom by westcrip. Quite stable and way better than dear old TW thats rolled out with the ICS update from samsung.

Odin is safer than Kies in my opinion.
You can TRY the "memory crash" method when using zergRush. Just open a ton of apps and exit using the Home button instead of Back to fill up as much memory as possible (at least over 500 mb used), then use zergRush.
I don't know if it will work for you or not, but it's worth a shot.
If not, just flash a kernel that roots for you, like CF-Root or Siyah.
How the hell does it matter when you get the update.
Its the same Samsung ****!
Id say stay on GB or use CM9!
But then again thats what i think.

Stock 4.0.4 when it will be available in india.

Anyone know when will be stock ics 4.0.4 will be available in india?Still waiting, fed up of wifi issue.

Yes you can directly upgrade to Jelly Bean from Ginger Bread (2.3.5)
you need to keep in mind that the ROM is a leaked one and it has bugs and you might also have battery drain if you dont tweak it.
you can use the thread below to install it
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995987&highlight=cleaned+thread
Also keep in mind official jb is expected out any day. Why flash the leak when you can flash official soon enough.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Yup if you are not experienced and don't want to waste your time on struggling with bugs then better install ics 4.0.3 and wait for official release of JB

Downgrade 4.2.1 to 4.0.4

hi ,
i wanna downgrade the 4.2.1 firmware jelly bean rooted in 4.0.4 ice cream, but is a problem i have the XXELKC and i don't find the 4.0.4 firmware for this kind of baseband , shall i install the 4.0.4 I9300XXBLH1 baseband ? it will work if i chose another stock firmware with a different baseband id ?
many thanks,
g00dness
You could flash some standard stock rom and then flash your baseband from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061 (its there). Or if the 4.0.4 rom is the stock rom of your carrier, there is absolutely no problem with flashing that
Just by curiosity, why do you want to do that?
You can surely find your carrier firmware at sammobile.com

You are officially the least helpful person on here.
On topic : If you want a particular baseband, just flash the rom you want and then flash whatever baseband you'd like from within cwm

Yes , 4.0.4 has better performance and all , but remember that it doesn't have the sudden death fix and your phone may die within 2days (happened to someone). You have been warned.
