When I am in the menu of the phone and if I click on the search button I get this message
"the application home screen (process com.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"
and home screen crashes. What should I do?
I have tried resetting it to the factory setting but after 2 or 3 hours, same thing happened.
Yeah when I go to my app drawer and click the search button it force closes too. I'm on 6.12.173 Verizon DROID RAZR. This is a leaked version so it'll probably be fixed in the official ota.

Did you wipe the data and cache before doing a factory reset? Formatting the SD Card may also help.
If it still happens after that then I suggest you try a different/newer ROM.
This is caused by the recent Google Search update, have to either uninstall updates or wait for Moto to fix it.

I am experiencing the same issue with a GSM Motorola RAZR, and cannot uninstall the updates, as the firmware has since been updated.
I have had that issue since the day i got my phone. The latest OTA update did not fix it. I've read that everybody has that issue.
Verizon Droid Maxx running the latest OTA update.
Still happens to me. Hopefully Google updates Google search soon to fix this.

Dude are there any good ROMs available for the phone?
Count me in
There are a ton of good ROMs for the Razr, you have the GSM version?
This is kind of off topic, but I get a forceclose when I am in my messaging on the stock keyboard. I'm on a stock maxx running the stock 2.3.6. Anyone else have this problem?

Has anyone here downgraded their device, in order to uninstall the updates?

This. Or what I did was push a download of Launcher Pro from my computer and it worked just the same.
I did however, switch back to nameless because I was getting multiple force closes from v0.6 eclipse.

Yea, I jacked something up on the setup on the remix. Easy fix.
That way didn't work but i figured out a different way, I found system recovery and downloaded that and put v.5 back on.
idk what you did, i can't push to my device because its on usb mode
the force close stops me from using the bypass method for the init. setup.
i've "factory" restored it and its back to the same problems.
is there something i'm missing?

You have to go to Verizon's website and get rid of the feature that's causing it. For wifi try to modify it (long click) and click advanced, change the IP to static, fill in the blanks with what you see there, save and exit then modify again and change IP back to the other option. Then it may connect and disconnect a few times just let it go and it should work

Sign into Verizon and click change features (first pic.) Select ur device and click next. Then go through the list and just disable all features that r enabled (2nd pic) (I don't remember the exact feature for fixing the problem so just disable them all or disable one at a time then click next towards the bottom to confirm the change)

Once I disabled the features I stopped getting the texts. The last two I got had stop or something in them. I also deleted my email account just in case after I disabled the features from Verizon. i have looked everywhere and cannot find them. can one of you please post the link...they got so bad i had to put my stock rom back on...the texts are numbers...i got a bunch with the number 1 then 2 then 3 and one was 4....then they went back to 1, i kept wiping cache and all....so please post the link and could someone plleeeasee tell me whats causing this all of a sudden cause my girlfriend has the exact same rom flashed and she is not getting any texts like this....
So when I worked for a wireless kiosk we had a lot of issues like this. It ended up being backup assistant plus. We would take that off peoples accounts and that would stop the texts.

If you get the text messages from Verizon (6250 or whatever). This is how you get rid of that. Login to your Verizon Wireless account. Towards the top, mouse over where it says "My Verizon" and look under "My Plans and Services" and click on "Change Features." Select your phone or the phone that is getting the messages. Now when the next page comes up, look for "Cloud Storage and Sync" and remove the Email Sync option. It's free and will not change your billing. There you go, no more texts

I got those too. I finally found out that I inadvertently signed up for the backup assistant from Verizon. I don't remember exactly how I did it. But I think if you go to their website and remove your account or its connection to yours or something like that. Anyway hope it helps.

I've been getting too many force closes with my S3... It happens with many apps and sometimes it just gets stuck for like two minutes which I can't do anything until it comes back. Have you guys had any issues? I don't know weather to take it back or do a factory data reset...

Sounds like something you installed is causing it. Factory reset it. Force Closes are typically software related.
Its happened to me a couple of times as well on the gallery and tapatalk 2 app. It is few and far between so it doesn't affect me too much.

OK. I'm going to delete some apps that I don't use and restart. Maybe it's one of those... If not, I'll factory reset it.

I used to have this problem on my OG Incredible, (haven't yet had it on my S3) and I would usually solve it by uninstalling/re-installing or clearing data on the apps that would force close. If every app is FCing though then it may just be easier to Factory Reset.

This is my issue...
Whenever i exit Whatsapp by using the Back button, the screen freezes for few seconds, ?Then, i get a black screen for another few seconds, then it takes me back to my Home Screen, and everything is back to normal... no error msgs.. nothing at all
And starting few hours ago, it is doing the same thing with other few apps.
I'm using Nova Launcher Prime if that matters
I tried removing Nova, i tried using another Rom, went back to Stock, same thing, removed Whatsapp, same thing. I'm pretty sure it's something related to an app, but idk :crying:
HELP ME SOLVE THIS ISSUE AND I WILL PAY YOU $50 THROUGH PAYPAL OR ANY OTHER METHOD YOU LIKE, NO JOKES!!

I would have to agree it sounds like a bug in the app if the factory reset doesn't fix it write the developer and ask him about it he may already know of the bug or at least he may need to know

Go into development settings menu and disable HW overlays and Force GPU rendering see if that works?
For deep wipe enter the below code on dialpad. It cleans everything on your internal SD as well. BUT backup any files you want on internal SD. This will not give any warning will start the process once you enter last #

factory reset (Don't dial
it does not ask you to
confirm unless you have
problem)
Then via ODIN install the latest ICS ROM and try whatsapp before installing 3rd party installers. I'm using whatsapp w/o issues on Goexlauncher and Omega V16.1 (JB ROM)

Mind providing what custom ROM you're on?
Or more information on how to recreate that issue, if its repeatable then get a log cat (Google on how)
