With the responsiveness of the CWM touch, I would really rather stick to the volume keys, its much simpler that way, although if a phone comes out without volume keys, or capacitive hardware buttons, I guess this would be the only solution.

When it comes to my recovery I want less fluff.
I'll stick with volume/power buttons for as long as I can.
Does look interesting but idk if "fancy" is better for recovery purposes.

I don't think I would like CWM with a touch screen as well as I like using the volume keys.
I love the idea, but I would rather see it implemented in the way that the Galaxy Nexus has it. Hopefully we get it on our version of CM9, whenever it hits.

When I first got my Android phone, I thought how ghetto it was that you had to use the volume keys. My recovery for my Kindle Fire is touch, love it way better!
That Galaxy Nexus version is sweet!! I wouldn't mind that!

Installed it. Works great! And for people that worry about instability due to added "flair", don't forget, this is from koush the same guy that brought us the old volume navigating recoveries. I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing

ok, i downloaded it, rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik, flashed this cwm touch, rebooted into normal mode, then rebooted back into recovery and guess what.
same old recovery.
where did i go wrong?

You can use it with cm7, but not with stock based roms. I'm not sure about hellraised i9100 roms.
Nice to see you here. You have SGS II now?

boot to recovery and flash? what do you mean you cant use CWM on stock rooted rom?
Rom manager is not needed for cwm. It just makes things slightly easier.
Flash a kernel that has cwm and boot into it by the command 'adb reboot recovery', three button hold, or even the 14 toggle mod reboot button. And flash away.
Rom manager doesn't equal cwm. It's just one of the things it can do. But right now it's not 100% ready for our phones.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I've been using it on my cappy, and now with my Sgs2, no issues. But I'm a compulsive updater and obsessed with living on the edge.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Majority of other phones it does work 100%.
And it does work with our phones. Just not 100%. If used enough there will be a time that it messes up (primarily with stock based roms). Hopefully in the near future the bugs will be worked out so that it is 100% with our phones.

IMO..With the devs putting the extended power menu in the roms which allows you to reboot to recovery It makes life easier to get to cwm..I forgot all about ROM MANAGER a long time ago....

I was trying to flash cm9 on rom manager last night but the whole volume up thing for 5 seconds prevents it from going into recovery.
Any work around for this? If not its not a big deal but it would be nice.
Thanks,

You have to have your Prime unlocked to flash ROMs. I asked this same question a couple of weeks ago.

I've had my note for less than 8 hrs n now its stuck on the samsung screen after flashing a tethering fix from UCLE2
Reboot into recovery(cwm) and restore your backup. I hope you have both of these.

how'd you get into recovery? For some reason I think I read some people having problems rebooting to recovery from ROM manager. Just wondering.

I use collective tools, but you have to be running one of their roms. You can grab Quickboot from the market. ROM manager should probably not be used with the Note. I would uninstall it. You could always use the old fashioned method....power and volume up and down.

You can actually download the collective power tool from the market:

Or hey, support FJ and throw him a buck for a really handy tool:

I had no idea. That's great news for all! Support FJ....he more than deserves it.

So from my little bit if reading through Samsung it seems that the only recovery everyone uses is cwm.. are there any other options like the 4ext? Or atleast cwm touch?

I was more or less asking if it was possible because I'm new to Samsung and all I see is Odin cwm in the Samsung forums. I'm coming from HTC so my knowledge is back to ubernoob when it cones to root. I know this phone is new, hell big red isn't even out yet so I wasn't like Wtf how come it isn't done yet.

I would wait a bit to install either of the cwm recoveries. Neither one work 100% yet. There are some issues with both.
Does anybody know if anyone is working on a AmonRa style recovery for the LTE, Just curious, Id actually like to see a Smelkusmod for our device.

Amen to that TWRP would mess uo my flashes on my OG EVO and CWM would sometimes cause my captive Buttons to fail in Recovery. Smelkus Mason Recovery had unbelievable features and would never fail

TWRP isnt a bad recovery, I ve had no issues with it, But as you said, SmelkusMod has so many cool features and is extremely reliable. Only thing is, Smelkus is pretty picky about which device he developes for. As far as the original dev for AmonRa (damnit I always forget that dudes name,No disrespect intended) opefully he might be coming up with something for us. As I said, I dont have any issues with TWRP its just Im more accustomed to AmonRa and its nice to have alternatives.
Have y'all tried 4ext recovery? It's not on the lte yet but it was on the 3d and it was by far the best
Man i hope someone ports over some form of Amon RA, having options are always better

Lol, his name is AmonRa
Trying to remember what was so great about AmonRa. From what I remember it was just a prettier CWM. Somehow I must've missed these other variations of it but from my memory it was pretty basic when compared to TWRP. Maybe I didn't stick around with the OG EVO long enough. Hopped ship soon as 3D was released then left that for E4GT.

Yeah, same here why was AmonRa so awesome? I remember everyone said that, but I had nothing to compare it to. TWRP seems way more advanced to me in terms of being "pretty", plus the touch interface with the sliding to confirm is awesome. What are these awesome features of AmonRa?

Ra just worked. CWM was buggy as hell on the OG.
I've had to reinstall TWRP a few times already on this device because it would just reboot itself when trying to restore a nandroid or flash a ROM
