Better method CWM and root read the instructions first .
Root + CWM .

I know you're trying to be helpful JJE, but since he has GDZKL3, he has an I9100G for which there is no CF-Root.
Anyway, at OP, you don't necessarily need an insecure kernel in order to root. There are at least two "G" rooted kernels in the development areas.

Yes i see users dont tell its different phone .
I have kept clear of G stuff and it does seem a bit silly yo have G posters in a forum thats going to break their phone ..
Wanted non international version section tacked on to the forum .

so when i want to root, on odin i put the superatoms_v2.1.tar as the PDA ? instead of the insecure kernel ?

[Q] Which insecure kernel to use for root

Hey guys,
I have a question about flashing an insecure kernel to root my phone. Its from Australia on virgin:
PDA: I9100XWKEB
Phone: I9100XXKE6
CSC: I9100XSAKE3
I want to keep my current rom to do a backup after rooting, so does it matter which insecure kernel I choose KE7, KE2 etc? As I cant see one which is XWKEB. I dont want to change to another firmware before rooting as I cant find my current one to download in case I have to return the phone under warranty.
Cheers
Which insecure kernel to use for root with S2 Root
I'm brand new to Android, so please be gentle (I am very experienced with jailbreaking IPhones, but that don't help here!). I've searched the forums but still have no clue as to the answer to this question.
Like the previous poster, I would also like to know which insecure kernel to use for my newly-purchased S2. My details are :
Baseband version : I9100TDUKF2
Kernel version :2.6.35.7-I9100TDUKF2
Build number : GINGERBREAD.DUKF2
Look forward to hearing from someone. And thanks in advance.

[Q] I want to root my gs2 but i cant find the right Kernel

my kernel number is MUGKG2 and i cant find the right one for my gs2
You need to read post one in the thread in full and understand it otherwise don't flash .Then go to KG2 kernel from the same post and flash it .
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
jje
At the moment there is no cf-root kernel for MUGKG2. Just flash any kernel from the link in the post above and flash the stock kernel back again. You will still have root. You can find the stock kernel here

Need Insecure and Original kernel fo my S2. Please help me.

There is no insecure version of JPKG2 in Odia's thread [KERNEL] Insecure Kernels for use with rooting.
If you're just wanting to root your phone, nothing more, you don't need any to flash a different kernel, just use [10/Nov][ROOTING/UNROOTING] Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit [v2.0](zergRush Exploit).
somebody rooted s2 with the above method?
also i heared that this soft rooting is not a complete root. is that true?
is there any alternative insecure kernel available for jpkg2?
is there any way i can get JPKG2 kernel to root my phone , yes i searched alot and cant find any solution

First Time Noob, Australia Vodafone

I just bought galaxy s2 on a 24 month contract from vodafone.
now;
the model number is
GT-I9100T
Android version; 2.3.3
Baseband: I9100TDUKF4
Kernal Version; 2.6.35.7-I9100TDUKH1-CL474234
and Build Number; Gingerbread.Dukh1
i was really hoping someone could answer some very basic questions for me as i am new.
1) does rooting involve flashing a 'rooted' firmware to ur phone using software like odin? or does it root the existing firmware.
2)Do i really need to change the kernal? what is the benefit?
PS can someone please just explain to me how to root this phone??
i've read around and it is just confusing me..
do i have to flash an official firmware first to root it???arrggh
That could be the same question...
Easiest way to root the phone is to flash an unstable kernel then root the phone, you could also just flash the rooted kernel to your phone...
If you do I would suggest getting a usb jig (from ebay, about $5) as you can reset the flash counter and get rid if the annoying triangle with "!" in it from your boot screen...
You also need to go the Aus I9100T thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166701
This will give you some advice about the Oz model....
You will probably need to get a copy of your stock modem so you have good signal strength...
Now, you have some reading to do....
Using odin to flash a new firmware doesn't require root. Have a look at this thread, it will answer a lot of your questions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Different kernels offer different optimisations for example custom boot animations, improved battery life and different versions of cwm and much more. To be honest your best off trying a few, you'll soon get a feel for what is right for you. Have a look at this thread regarding rooting kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399.
.tar = odin flashable, doesn't need root
.zip = clockwork flashable, requires root
As always read the instructions and make sure things are compatible

You're not searching right. A search for "xwke7 insecure kernel" would have turned up what you are looking for. The first result is now THIS thread, the following three results were:
1 - Intratech's official firmware thread, which contains links on how to root
2 - Chainfire's thread of CF-Root kernels
3 - Odia's thread of insecure kernels for rooting
Try again.
Hey,
"ctomgee" is right, mate.
Even if u can't find anything here just google it.
And if u believe or not, it would bring u to xda again
But if takes to long, here:
