Hello,
I just rooted and configured a new Rezound however it will not allow me onto the Mobile Network. The option itself is greyed out and I have no service? Is there any radios available to flash?
What method did you use to root? Did you flash a ROM as well? Which build number/baseband are you running (settings->about Phone->Software information->More)
I used the HTCDEV bootloader unlocker, followed by flashing the modified recovery and then Ziggy's kernel. I followed the guide here, step by step:
Super-noob guide to unlocking, rooting, and flashing Ziggys kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418659
Kernel: 2.6.35.13-ck3+
[email protected] #122911
SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 29 21:39:04 EST 2011
Baseband Version: 0.95.00.1017_2r, 0.95.00.1013r
Buildnumber: 1.02.605.6 CL183296 release-keys
Sounds like a problem with the kernel you flashed. I'd make sure to do an MD5 comparison on Ziggy's Kernel and flash the kernel again. If that doesn't work flash the stock kernel again.
EDIT: to return to stock kernel check this thread.
Did you put the back cover back on?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Yeah that cover thing got me. I felt pretty slow lol
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
It could have been a mixture of both the cover being off and the Kernel not working.
However, after re-flashing the kernel specifically downloaded from Ziggy's thread and replacing the back of the phone, the service was restored and I became a happy camper.
Thanks for the advice, base0x02!

Can anyone please get me the "virgin" UCKK6 kernel designation/name using CPU Spy? I am looking for someone with a phone that has never been rooted and has never changed the stock ROM. I have rooted and changed ROM's myself and am trying to get it back to a like new state and want to see if the kernel version I have matches a "virgin" phone.
Thanks!

Virgin zImages are in my Return-to-Stock thread in Development.
Thanks. That's what I used to restore my phone. I was just double checking the kernel designation after it had been updated to UCKK6, as I believe your return to stock uses UCKH7. I'm kind of anal that way.
By the way, you rock! I appreciate all the time and effort you put in here. I have spent way too many hours reading your posts.
The one you want will include the following essential info:

BTW, Entropy has a KK6 return to stock download in that thread now, as well as the KH7 ones.
Thank you!
Hello, i am a newbie in Android so i was wondering if it is possible to flash any custom Kernel on Stock ROM for HTC EVO 3D from Sprint.
I was reading about that this morning but devs do not specify if they are compatible or not. The fact is that i want to flash one of:
*Anthrax Kernel(enables Overclock and USB Host)
*RCMix Kernel(enables Overclock)
In addition i have to mention i have a Rooted EVO via htcdev, and it has hboot 1.50. I downloaded Flash GUI for Flashing Kernels but i am not sure if the kernels mentioned above are compatible with stock ROM. Suggestions are accepted about what is the best Kernel/ROM for my EVO.
Thanks in advance for all your replies.
Aosp Roms get Aosp kernels.
Sense based roms (stock) get sense kernels.
- kernels must be compatible with installed fw radio
(2.08.651.2 & 651.3 have same radio; 2.17.651.5 has new radio & no custom kernels yet b/c kernel source isnt released.)
Some of the 651.5 custom roms (like meanrom) have a few tweaks incorporated with the stock kernel.
So u need to know your fw base to figure out your options.

You're on the newest baseband/radio, so there aren't any custom kernels that are compatible with what you have (yet)

There is a way, but I have no experience with hboot 1.5 so I don't know if you can or not. My guess is if there is a way to downgrade, it would have to be by using an RUU, I'll see if I can help you find an RUU to use.
Note: If you can downgrade via RUU on hboot 1.5, you will lose EVERYTHING. I had to use an RUU to fix some major mistakes I made recently on my phone, and I lost everything, including superuser (i.e. root), but I kept S-OFF
EDIT: You can use an RUU but you have to relock your bootloader to apply the RUU. I'm going off to class now so I can't find the RUU for you now, but a google search for it should give you results. You need the 2.08.651.3 RUU (it should be an EXE file)

So, i think it is better to wait some time, maybe in the future the source code will be available and some kernels for this version appear.

Yes, I'm just waiting as well, I'm perfectly content with the stock kernel on the new baseband. It's just a matter of time before HTC releases their source code and our wonderful devs can get cracking on custom kernels

freeza has built a stock rom with some tweaks.
Thread and DL located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224659
I'm currently fully updated on the new OTA and running InfectedROM and freezas kernel. This thing cooks.
The kernel is currently locked at 1.2Ghz, but there is a few changes that can be made at the system level to increase that..... I think. I haven't looked into it.

I know this error has been mentioned before but I cant find anything to fix it on ICS they all link to Gingerbread only kernels and none of those will let my phone boot up. I have tried the two Kernels from SebastionFM (1.10 and 1.20) but neither have fixed my problem with the wifi not working. I either get Wifi error and it never turns on or it comes on but I dont see any networks. If the wifi never turns on I cant see the mac address it gives me unknown. If it will at least turn on it does show the mac address.

I know that is stupid obvious, but this has helped a few people.
yes back on or off makes no difference.
I am running clean 4.2 and am not having that issue.
I did have it on another rom and re-flashing it and a kernel fixed me.

Which kernel did you flash? The way I understand it its all in the kernel. I am going to flash another rom to see if I can get that kernel to update.

Flashed Newts One XxX RC2.1 and same thing.
Kernel 3.0.16-g4a9c8a3
[email protected] #1
same baseband
build number
1.44.502.1 CL44148
I guess I will RUU back to stock stock and take off s-on etc and if it doesnt work send it back to get replaced.
I was wondering if it is normal for the kernel info under About-Software-More to always stay the same after a new kernel has been flashed? I have installed NilsP Business ICS (both 3.6&4.0) and both times the kernel says it is installed correctly but the name is unchanged when I look in setting under About-Software-More. My kernel always says: 3.0.16-hd0049f1 [email protected] #1 smp preempt. Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Alex

if you are s-on then you will need to flash the kernel out side of recovery. so unless nils rom installs then automatically rebooted you to hboot to finish the kernel wasnt installed.
i know he has in the second post the different kernels that are out. pick one, rename it to PH98IMG.zip and place it on root of sd card.
reboot to hboot and let it install.
done.

Yes, I have done that and It successfully completes. I guess my concern is how do I tell I am running the correct kernel? It appears to me that the kernel name does not change when I look at about phone-software info-more then read the kernel version. Mine currently says 3.0.16-hd0049f1 [email protected] #1 smp preempt. I just installed business ice 3.6. Since I do not have S OFF will the phone display the default kernel even though one has been flashed over it?

as long as the kernel says 3.0.16 and the build number is 144 then they havent changed anything from the last 3 leaks.

Okay, I'm just used to seeing a lot of Roms go with a custom kernel option. Coming from a rooted dinc, I used an incredikernel with a lot of the custom roms I used.I was concerned because it displays the exact same kernel as the ota ics update put out by Verizon. Do a lot of developers stick with stock kernels for rezound roms?

i came from the inc too. the reason there isnt that many options is because we dont have source for ICS yet. so as far as i know the .10 ruu is the latest kernel and the other 2 leaks that came after are still using that kernel.
once source drops we will see kernel development.
Thank you very much! I didn't realize we didn't have the source code yet. I really appreciate your help.

Hi all,
Ive got the stock version of 4.04 that came installed on my phone, I have rooted to remove all the annoying bloatware.
My current kernel is 3.015-611327-user [email protected] #1 SMP preempt from may 2012.
BaseBand Version I9300XXLEF
I was wondering what kernels are worth updating to, for better performance on the stock rom?
Reason why I want to change the kernel is because a friend just got an S3 and his phone seems a little more responsive (hes running all stock and stock kernel).
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated
Thanks in advance

What Kernel best kernel posts are banned .
Try and decide no such kernel as best for all .
Your base band is not firmware version .
jje
Oh yea...
IMM76D.I9300XXALEF (4.04)
Since asking about which kernel is best is banned..
Can I update using CWM to any kernel?

download all the available kernels
flash each one . run it for a full day or
discharge cycle and compare it for yourself.
things to thjunk about
battery life
performance benchmarks are fun but more look at things like browsing switching apps and so on.
ui lag
remember everyone uses their phone different and want something diff

Closed, try them for yourself, read the OP's, etc, they will have all the information you need about each kernel there.
