I got my Rezound on Friday, unlocked the kernel, and rooted it (by installing AmonRa recovery and using the rooted stock ROM found on this site).
Everything worked perfectly for most of Saturday, but starting Saturday evening and continuing to the present time, I have been unable to get any data connection whatsoever - not 3G or 4G. Wifi and the voice service work fine.
Any ideas?
So it was working after you flashed all of that but then just stopped working? When you say the "stock rooted ROM found on this site" did you get the one from the new OTA update that came out? or the original one? Which kernel are you using?
I'd probably try to reflash the kernel (and wipe if you didn't when you flashed the ROM)

Yes, it just stopped working. I was using it all day Saturday up until about 5:30, and when I tried to use it again around midnight it just wouldn't get any connection at all - it shows full bars, wifi works, and I can make and receive calls, but no data at all.
I got the "Stock Rooted OTA ROM w/ Firmware updated 1.27.12" from this thread, and the "Stock - 2.01.605.11 kernel with OTA from 1.26.12 updated 1.27.12" from the same thread.
Wipe what? The kernel?
Thanks.

Did you make sure the covery is securely fit on the back? Also did you check with Verizon to make sure there's no outage in your area, and make sure that data didn't turn itself off?
with wifi, download lte toggle from the market and make sure it is on cdma auto prl or whatever +lte and not some other mode like wcdma or something.

Yes, no, and yes, respectively - last night I was in downtown Philadelphia, and today and I'm home in the suburbs of Philly (~20 miles away), so I'm assuming it isn't the network - it would have to be a fairly widespread outage.

Have you tried a wipe?
it honestly could have just died. It is brand new, so it could be a lemon. Maybe your sim card died?
Did it heat up before this happened? I also lost data and couldnt get it back and right before it happened my phone overheated. The data transmission icon was lit up for over an hour so that probably caused it. I had to factory reset for everything to work again and have had no problems since.

The wipe seemed to fix it. Titanium Backup aside, I hope I don't have to go through that too frequently...

If it is an AT&T branded phone and you have an AT&T SIM card, why would you think that your settings are messed up? Have you rooted your phone and installed a custom ROM? Even if you did, the custom ROMs that are available for the Aria should have the correct AT&T settings.

OK, first I would do a 'nandroid' backup to save your current configuration. Then I would do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset and then see if you can then pick up a 3G signal. Depending on which custom ROM you have loaded, it will either show up as 3G or H (if you are running CM7). If you still can't get a signal, I would take it to AT&T and see if they can figure it out.

Dial *#*#4636#*#* on the phone. A menu will come up. Select Phone Information. Scroll down a little bit and there is a dropbox that says "Set preferred network type:"
This setting should be set to "WCDMA preferred". If it is not set to that, change it to that then hit back to get out of the menu, and see if the 3G works after that. It might help to restart the phone after doing this.
If that doesn't do it, try finding someone else you know with an AT&T SIM card, and try putting it into your phone to see if you can get 3G. If it's a very old SIM card, consider asking for a new one.
Also, double check underneath the battery. Does it say A6366 or A6380?

Sounds like a defect in the phone to me. If I were you, I'd probably re-install the factory default RUU. (Make sure you use the 2.1 one, NOT the 2.2 one. As long as you use the 2.1 one, you will still be able to root the phone again.) If you want to retain your current settings you can take a nandroid backup. After rerooting the phone you can restore it.
If 3G still doesn't work, get it exchanged. Was this a recently purchased phone?

Ok before all that, I just restored the nandroid ,from before when I was told to backup then wipe to see if I'd pick up the 3G, and after it boots up it just starts bringing up force closes of apps continuously... I can't do anything but force close the stuff that pops up.. (it seems to be all the apps that I had pre wipe that are causing the problems... I can't use my preferred launcher or even the keyboard [smart keyboard pro] that I had set, gmail doesnt seem to be working either)
Also this phone is a couple months old, I got it for free because I stayed with AT&T after they acquired the local phone company. It's not a huge problem that I can't get 3G as I can access wifi most of the time, but me and a friend were looking at T-Mobile and saw a joint plan we liked but I knew I wouldn't be able to receive 3G with T-Mobile, I then remembered I had never even gotten 3G with AT&T
Any ideas? I have a Plain Jane rooted TB that has been stuck in 1X despite (in order):
- rebooting
- pulling battery
- restoring a known good saved ROM from ROM Manager
- toggling enable on RevA
- installing jcase's rooted 1.70.605 OTA and MR2 radio
- factory reset
I am in midtown Manhattan. I should have stellar 3G/4G. Is there anything left to do but return the phone to VZ?

You should check your settings and see if your mobile network is on(obvious answer and I feel like you have probably done that). Make sure you dont have any apps that are turning it off i.e. juicedefender or any other apps that control your mobile network. It could be the ROM you are using so try and use your stock ROM and see if you get 3G/4G in that. Make sure your SIM card is in properly. I do not know if that will be an issue but it could help. Also along with ROMs make sure the ROM you are using is friendly with the radio you are using. I can not think of much else. Google it too and search this forum or others that might help too! Good luck.
The simplest and most obvious possibility that still has to be asked: Do you have the back cover on the phone?

I had the same problem you did. I used Bamf 3.0 and flash the newest leak radio. My phone all of the sudden the next day dropped 3G. I went into the VZ store today and told them my sim card died and they gave me a new one. It working now, so I said unroot your phone like I did and get a new sim card. Make sure you update to their newest software before going into the store.
Seem like alot of people on the forum are saying they are not getting 3G/4G lately after the new radio that was out. I got my radio the day it was leak.

Thanks. But I had my problem before I flashed the new radio. I've been using the original plain jane root from back in March. It worked two nights ago, was stuck in 1X the next morning.
Since I now have the new OTA stock is there an easy way to get it out of root or should I just follow the sticky instructions and go all the way back to original ROM?
Instead of taking it in you could also just give them(verizon) a call. I know they can see if your phone is rooted from there and many verizon workers have theirs rooted and might be able to help you!
Yeah mine worked 2 days ago too but yesterday it died I was using bamf for a while now. I flashed the radio before that too, all of the sudden it just dropped. The guy at VZ store told me that never happened before that a sim card just die like that.

Thanks, but I spoke to VZ last night. The rep was nice and all but said the factory reset should fix the problem (it didn't) He said the next step would be to replace the phone. I might call again tonight to see if I can bump up the tech support ladder to someone more knowledgeable. Still hoping someone here could help me out.
Like I said, I had the original plain jane root that everyone did back in March when the phone came out. No reason for it to suddenly get stuck in 1X the other day.
Ive had that problem twice now. The first time my 4g antenna stopped working for whatever reason. I replaced the battery cover and it worked again for a few days. When it stopped again I called verizon and they sent me a new phone which is probably what youre gonna have to do.
So... VZ is next-day mailing me a new phone. I wanted to exchange it in the city but they said once you have the phone for more than 14 days exchanges have to be done by mail. Still, I'd love to know why the phone died.
Hi there,
I've flashed Xtreme's ICS 4.0.3 rom through AmonRa and it went through smoothly. I flashed the kernel and everything that was listed in the "how to" but I can't seem to get onto the internet. I've looked around and I think it might be my APN settings but being a 4G phone I can't just type *228 and have VZ set my APNs for me. I'm connecting fine to the network and I'm sending data out but I can't receive data. Has anyone seen this problem before and is there a solution to it?
I'm actually having the same issue, after flashing the same ROM. It says I'm connected to the 4g/3g networks, but whenever trying to do something that uses data, it just hangs. My WiFi works on the ICS ROM, but when I restore back to stock with my nandroid backup, nothing works - no 4g, no 3g, no WiFi.

My phone can connect to WiFi just fine, I've used it to sync the contacts with my google account so that I can still call and text people. It's just the data that isn't working.
Bump.
I've taken the phone to Verizon and they're going to send me a certified like-new. I'm not sure what happened to the 4G but even replacing the SIM didn't have any effect. I'm thinking one of the updates I flashed created this problem.
This might be a dumb reply... but since you were in the process of flashing ROMs and whatnot, I'm assuming you might have had to take the battery cover off. Did you put it back on when you were trying to get the 3G / 4G to work? The antennas are located there.
Only reason I ask is because I was freaking out when I couldn't get mine to work, either.
I'm losing 4G on cleanrom ICS. I'll have it after flash but later on, lose it. I think it only happens when I connect to the exchange server.
Nandroid got my 4G LTE back. I made a backup before I connected to the exchange server. I'll continue to monitor.

So I found the problem. I called Verizon again (After two replacement phones and three phone calls!) and they transferred me to tier 1 tech, then to tier 2, and then finally to an "internal agent." After a brief review of my account he told me that someone had turned on the usage control at 5gb. I don't understand how this is possible -- Nobody has access to my account. So after disabling it my data has been working fine. If you're having data problems check your account

i have tmobile and i keep getting no service on top, i dont know what to do, im running ICS OTA, and i flashed the eng hboot now i cant get service.
Is that all you really did? Just flash ENG hboot?
yup, lol. it sucks, called tmobile also, was on stock and they just told me to hard reset.
How did you flash the hboot? Via hboot or some other way? Though that's pretty much the easiet.
yep. i can normally fix anything i do to my amaze, but one minute ill have 4G working next thing it reboots, and i can't connect to mobile network, I switch it on and it only says turning on... and it sticks like that. and sometimes if it reboots it just says no service. like at all. i can Tmobile 4 times now. and yet, nothing. weird.
flashing a different hboot has no effect on your signal.
yesh, i know, just thats weird. It started on saturday, and until now, like when im asleep, it'll turn off service, or it'll reboot by itself, wake up saying send report to HTC, and on top where it has the carrier it says NO SERVICE.

Just reflash a stock RUU or restore your backup if you made one, probably messed some file up by accident, somehow.

Open the back of you phone and make sure the contacts are all clean on both the cover and the phone, then try again, if not call tmobile, it's probably a faulty device or something. Never heard of that happening, even after reflashing complete stock.
yeah i know its weird, and i had this device since november, which RUU would you recommend i flash? maybe the one i flashed like you said was faulty,
Once you flash a basic stock, you should be fine, maybe it's a hardware problem, phone fell down anytime lately?

Is your phone dropping calls? Are you Missing call or text? I doubt it, it's not that the ICS OTA made our signal worse, it's just that they finally fixed the signal itself to show exactly what signal we're getting and not just random numbers, as long as no calls are being dropped, etc. Why try to fix what's not broken?
i finally got everything working except for mobile network, my phone would reboot when i would try to refresh my twitter, i saw a thread on someones mobile network not working, im going to see there.
Do you mean your data isn't working? Check your apn settings, mobile network and data are not the same dude.
nothing was working at first, couldnt call of receive, now i can but mobile network is still buggy.
So a few days back I decided to install cloudy and messed with the build.prop a little bit. I was having 3g and roaming issues so I decided to try jasmine v2. Same issues there as well. Then I went back to v1.1 and now I'm back on fully rooted stock. My problem is if I fully pull the battery, wait a few seconds, and then boot back up I am able to get 4g for about 10 seconds or so, after which time the phone always mysteriously jumps back to 3g and never leaves from there. Seriously weird. While I was having the issues with Cloudy I dialed *228 because I read something about updating the preferred roaming list (and looking back I realize I shouldn't have done this!), but I always get 4g for a few seconds after booting up still...it just always goes away. Anyone have any useful suggestions?
I'd stop by a verizon store or give them a call and get a new sim card.

I might be stuck doing this, as since Cloudy I've tried Jasmine 2.0, 1.1, the stock root deodex rom by Beans, all with normal wipes and advanced wipes prior to flashing. Lol I even used my Verizon to temporarily switch my phone line to an old crappy non-smartphone I have laying around and then back to the G3 thinking maybe possible that could somehow "restore" proper programming or something, all with no dice! Needless to say, it was a late night at that point.
Then I got to thinking, that maybe the full restore guide here on XDA (that I've used before) might do a more "full" restore than simply flashing a new rom. So I did that, and so far my issue appears to be fixed! More testing is still needed at this point, but if there's anyone who comes across similar issues, you might try that. I'll report back once I know for sure if this was the solution. Thanks!
You don't *228 a 4G phone, they update their PRLs, on their own, on boot. You may have fried your SIM card.

Yep...as the OP clearly says, looking back I realize I shouldn't have done that It didn't hurt my SIM card.....I'm not an expert by any means, but I feel like something must have somehow gotten seriously borked with the radio or something, I really don't know - all I know is using the "full restore to stock" instructions with the .tot and LG flash tool, everything is back up and running great again. Figured I'd share my experiences on the off chance anyone else has any similar issues!
So, have you re-done all the work to reinstall Cloudy ? If so, did the 4g to 3g drop problem return ? I am not sure from following thus threading the problem was with Cloudy.

You don't *228 a 4G phone, they update their PRLs, on their own, on boot. You may have fried your SIM card.

I'm not sure exactly where the problem came in, whether from Cloudy or not, but I'm not refreshing it to find out lol, as I was still having definite drop to 3g and never return problems, along with it saying I was roaming during those times. I'm just gonna stick with the stability of the rooted stock US rom for now
