Zoom - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Since updating my 3G Flyer to HC I've been quite impressed with it, but, there is one thing I would like to see.
My mum has recently got herself a 10" Samsung tablet running HC, and on that, you can zoom by touching 2 points on the screen and tilting the device towards or away from yourself.
It is a bit of a gimmick, but at times it could be quite useful.
Any ideas if this could be done?

You're just not happy with the pinch to zoom that everyone else uses?

Oh yeah, that does the job just fine.
Just sometimes, I would like the other method as it can be easier to use.
For example, when using RealVNC to do invoicing when I'm away from my office, it would just feel much more natural than the pinch to zoom feature. Can't explain why, just would.
Above all else, would just like the option.
Lol.

My big question is powerpoints. If I'm going to use this for notes it'll be a necessity to be able to scribble on those slides...anyone know if that's viable?

The way note taking works is to take a snapshot of the display and then save any
Hand written notes that are over layed. So for Powepoint you would send jpegs of each slide you commented on.

Jah can you give us an idea of the performance versus the Galaxy Tab? Does it feel faster? Sadden its not a dual core....this might not matter now but it surely will in 6 months.
Much smoother than the Galaxy Tab and the screen is of better quality. Sense UI makes the overall experience much better as well.

Can I say I wish I was you right now lol.. I really want this tablet for this note taking ability so I have to ask you one question. Is the pen accurate enough to take notes on a smaller scale? Not like a giant scribble that they show in all the videos.
Have you compared the ntrig pen system to the wacom pen system found in many higher end windows 7 tablet PCs?
I only have experience with the wacom tablets and they work awesome!
You can make detail notes but i think you will need a Matt screen protector as the screen is to slippery for more than a few short notes.

Do u recommend the tablet

Im from europe so i can only order from ebay. Sice it is quite expencive, do u recommend the tablet?

100 thread views and no reply. sad.
Yes. I recommend it against other tablets I have used- iPad, Galaxy tab 10.1, HP something.
The community on xda for this device is little though.
Honestly, as much as I like this tablet, I cannot recommend it though. I get a crappy wifi signal on it and crashes and I have just a better experience on my galaxy tab.
U mean it crashes to the white screwn with HTC logo? It seems every damn htc is affected... I guess i shall wait for mwc, maby there we shall find an update..

I love mine... great for taking notes, opening word, excel, and PowerPoint files... amazing for drawing with sketchbook pro and Photoshop.
I'm extremely happy with mine. Have experienced none of the issues mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Love note-taking with the Quill app I downloaded from the market, and it's great having access to 4G LTE.
Is the stylus responsive? I mean can i write without it lagging behind?

Sure. I'm using mine as a notebook for university.
Yeah I recommend this tablet. Run well, and does everything that I need it to do.

Will htc make another 3d phone for us?

Will they make another 3d or drop it for the next evo?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
No. Sales weren't so hot for the 3D. The next EVO line will probably have a flux capacitor in it. You know, to mix things up a bit.
Haha maybe in the not so distant future
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Lol Would be funny. If market has any say in it, it'll probably have like six cores in it with a display screen too big for its own good.
the evo 3d hardware is already great however the reason why sales aren`t so good is because it is a bit fat and sense 3.0 is not as great as sense used to be, just creating lag whilst adding minimal functionality. people are always saying how bad the snapdragon s3 is but thats because up until now the only phones to have it were sense based. if you look at nenamark 2 you will notice the phone on top is a snapdragon s3 device which scored 10 fps better than the exynos chipset and almost twice as much as the evo and sensation, the difference, software. thats what it all comes down to in the end. i just hope htc finally realises this.
i dunno if its gonna have 3d but check out the htc edge a quad-core phone it will probably become the newest evo .. at least i hope so

Hope itl be a sprint device. although I love the 3d, I hate the lack of speed.
I hope so too its also a 4.7 inch screen
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I don't mind. But If they're gonna have another evo, I hope the next one is a little thinner and light wieght like the LG mar..... and bigger screen. Well of course faster. If not, I might go for the iPhone 5. = )
Iphone are ok but there so limited in what you can do with them theyre just smooth n reliable other than that there sooo plain there set up still looks the same from the original to the iphone 4s

lol honestly ,
lack of speed what lack of speed??
camera slow fuzzy dont think so
cpu slow, what program are you running that its slow in?
some plastic benchmark program makes people say the strangest things.
I think it was all to do with advertising. I bought my evo 3D from ASDA (aka Walmart) for only £250.
Showed it to people and they were like wow! That's so cheap for a phone that does that (3D). What phone is it? Wish I'd known before I upgraded, etc. etc.
It's as if they didn't know it existed. Even iPhone users were saying the same thing.

everywhere I go , friends ask to borrow my phone to use the 3d photo.
best party trick it does, is wifi to samsung tv's. awsome with the hdmi link when your traveling
I think that what made this phone flop was the absence of support for the 3D functionality.
No websites support this so in a way if you have 3D content you've shot you'll have to enjoy them in 2D which in many cases looks bad because the focus you'll use for 3D is not always the best for 2D.
I believe that a better overall platform needs to be in place before we have another 3D phone.
Nevertheless the 3D was an amazing proof of concept.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
In my view, 3D is/was just a gimmick. The best part was that you are not forced to use it!
I don't mind another 3D phone as long as it can be switched off easily--- I just wish HTC start making thinner phones. Almost all handset makers (except the "fruit" one) have slimmer phones.
I've been reading around and I don't understand why people say this phone is getting old. It gas been out for a while, but looking at the hardware this phone has its not far behind any phone. And the 3d isn't that useful, but nice to have and play around with time to time

I like that the phone has no shutter lag (supposedly), and will let you take photos while videoing. I also like the screen size, along with the resolution. In the reviews, people always seem to comment on how awesome the screen looks, so I am really looking forward to that. NFC sounds cool too.

Im excited about the camera as well. Looks like good quality (from samples ive seen) and no shutter lag. Just an overall fun camera.apk
I hate AMOLED displays for the viewing angles and hue, so I returned the E4GT and didn't even bother with the GNex. I refuse to upgrade to a phone that has less than a 4.5" screen. (Spoiled). That said, assuming the camera is on par with the E4GT, what I'm looking forward to the most is the camera. My son is very active these days and I have a daughter on the way, so being able to get good pics of them whenever and wherever is a big deal to me, and let's face it, the OG EVO camera has always sucked. Quick shutter speed, high aperture, wide angle, BSI sensor, dedicated imaging processor, stills during video capture, dedicated camera button. Hell, even as a gimmick feature, the slow motion recording sounds fun.
The camera easily, after playing with the One X's camera , I look forward to it.
XDA Since 2007...
I'm in for the faster cpu, larger screen, and more memory. Although I have all animations turned off, the original evo is lacking in the cpu dept.
I chose this over the One X and SGS3 because of the dedicated camera button, kickstand, micro sd card, great screen, and slim profile... coming from the original EVO 4G. But... if i had to pick one.... the camera button. Why doesn't everyone have this?

Yeah, other than the pre-order drama, I am really excited to use the camera button. I didn't have an EVO 3D and I have been taking more and more photography lately with my EVO 4G. Can't wait to see how the camera button affects this new hobby of mine lol.
Camera was the big one for me. Honorable mention goes to the screen, camera button (wasn't a fan of the round one on the E3D), slimness, and KICKSTAND!!!!
Anyone know if the cam button can be used as a shortcut button to open the camera?

Yes, hit the shutter button and the camera app opens. Not when it's locked though.
The camera button is the big feature? Has no one ever had this before? I know my EVO 3D, does, but it isn't new to that device. The PPC-6800 had it back in 2007 and I think my PPC-6700 did too. The Evo 4G is about the only phone I think I've had recently that didn't have the button. It is like they were trying to mimic Apple too much.
The Nexus s 4g, G2, HTC Hero, Galaxy Nexus, T-bolt all phones I had. None had a camera button. I had a ppc-6700 too but I wasn't trying to take pictured with that. The camera was horrible. Oh I had a EvO too.

How many people like The HTC one

I'm curiously wondering how many of you xda a developers users, actually like the new HTC One? Personally I like the design, features such as the stereo speakers that are on the front and the new design of the back. I don't really know how I would like sense 5 considering sense 4 on Viper ROM 3.1 .0 is actually really really good so give me your thoughts
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I like the back. Not a big fan of the speakers but I bet they do sound good. Nice specs but if Sprint gets it and changes it like they did the One X then it'll make me disappointed I just got this one.

I like it. I'd get one if it wasn't for the change in the captive buttons. Whoever thought of that idea needs to be smacked upside the head.

I have to agree with the statements about the design on the rear, but i seriously hate the movement of the capacitive buttons. that killed me. Also, the new sense 5 better not look like it did in the photos, i will not buy a sense device that mimics windows phone.

Personally, and i probably will get flamed by this, but if they leave it that way, im going to the Samsung side.
I like the hardware but I really hate the new sense. I'll pass it and see what improvement htc gonna make in the next device plus I have to wait my upgrade in Mar 2014
EVO 4G LTE HB 2.09 S-OFF
My wife isn't big on phones, as long as she can talk, text, and use the internet she's fine, she has her upgrade now so I'll be getting it and giving her my evo and if I don't like it I'll just switch back and give her the "one", and she has my og evo so I'll send that to htc for $100
If the one stays the same with the other carriers I'm looking forward to see how the development will go.

i do like the "ultrapixel" camera tho. would be cool to have it and brag about it lol
I usually preorder my phones so I can have it on release day but this time I will wait to see if multitasking is back. If HTC disables this core function of Android again I will be going with another manufacture. Its ridiculous that if I am looking at a web page then check a text message then go back to the browser the page has to reload. I find this very infuriating, especially with all the power this phone is packing. Sense 5 doesn't look promising with the live tiles. Judging from the last couple of sense versions this release will be throw together also and won't be able to handle this new feature without studdering and serious lag.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
It's ok... The best thing is the speakers... All phones speakers should face you... It just makes sense. But other that I don't see anything special about compared to the new up coming phones. By the time up ready for a upgrade at the end of the year there will be some very good phones on the market.

So are the windows essentially just widgets u could add to the screen?
I'm really drawn to the hd screen, extra ram, and extra storage. I also really love HTC's camera software.
The one drawback is the apparent lack of mSD expansion. As a systems engineer, I carry enough gear with me, so I often use my phone at job sites, carrying suites of software tools, ISOs, etc. That's in addition to the usual books, music, etc. So not having more than 64gb of storage that doesn't rely on the cloud will be a PitA (all too often, I'm in reception blackholes).
I know it'll come in 32 and 64gb flavors, but I really hate paying the premium for higher storage capacity consumption devices/phones.
If the Evo flavor ever does come to fruition, I have to hope that it comes with a microSD slot. Further, if it is released, I'll hold off getting one. I'm pretty happy with the 4g LTE and the price will drop in like 3 months anyway.
I'm in the same boat as you, I like having expandable storage. I can't always rely on cloud services. It's actually quite a debate. Some people like to flame others for wanting an sd card slot. I don't get it. Since I use my phone for work, mp3 player, and camera, the more storage I can get the better. I don't always have data and life is too busy too constantly swap what I have in my storage.
I tend to agree with many of the points raised here. Lack of external storage is rough, as is losing the kickstand. Also, while the new camera has better low light, i think 4MP is too low to allow for cropping. I'd have preferred a camera as good as Lumia 920.
