Install android sdk with platform tools + usb drivers , install JDK , download xUltimate :
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeudoxus/47283-release-xultimate.html
Plug the phone to the computer with the usb cable, let it install the driver.
Run main.exe from xultimate, then just follow the options on screen. When done add back the apps (from the folders in the xultimate folder ; done_frame / done_app to /system/framework / system/app on the phone) with qtadb when its done (drag and drop with its file manager.)

Yea, I think xUltimate works without the phone plugged now (with main_skip.bat). You need to copy the apps to orig_app and the framework stuff to orig_frame.
I forgot to mention that you need to delete the stuff in /system/app and /system/framework before sending the new stuff in. Or else the odex files will stay there.
Edit: And if xUltimate gives you errors about java, go in the JDK folder ( where you installed it) copy everything in the bin folder and paste it in the xUltimate folder.
Anyways, off to sleep, good luck.

most were already apk's just rename and push, one was zips just unzip and they were already named mms.apk for me push and done.
Only thing was you gotta remember to rename them Mms.apk then replace your original. Don't forget to make a copy of your original. Once you replace the original mms.apk you should not have to install it. Just back out and open mms app and ur golden. First run will prob lag a little reboot phone should fix it. Good luck!

yea i downloaded those apks and also followed the steps to push them and nothing happened.. again what i did was ZIP FILE-MMS APKS- EXTRACT-EXTRACTED FOLDER-MMS APK- COPY- SYSTEM- APP PASTE and once i select paste it takes me to the SD card folder and the mms apk doesnt replace the original one.. instead it gets pasted on the SD card folder so it kinda mskes me mad because i try and i keep tryin and i even rebooted my phone so many times and it doesnt work at all!!!
Hmmm very odd indeed.
What file explorer are u using? Root explorer? That's what I used.
Are you dling and extracting all on phone? Try fresh dl on pc and unzip extract .apk on pc. Move .apk onto phone and then try to push it into /system
*Edit* The first 2 links are .apk already so I assume you mean the 3rd link. I unzipped the "blue colored" & "blue nolip" werked fine for me. Which ones were you trying?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
The third one..... nd yea what i did was extract the apk from the zip fike nd tryed to push it into the system-app and pressd paste and nothin happens.. i reeboot and it doesnt do anythin... nd yea i used root explorer....

Ok so I assume you mean the 3rd .zip in the 3rd link which is the "Blue Mms nolip zip"?? If so thats awesome because its one that I tried and actually the last one I pushed. Here is the .apk from the zip I downloaded try pushing it. Maybe you got a bad download or a corrupt file during the unzip(prob not). Lemme know how it werks. If it doesn't maybe some screenshots of what your /system/app/ looks like in root explorer. Good luck!
Omg!! Thank u so much it looks awesome!!!

[Mod][Tool] Gingerscript - Framework mod tool

I dusted off a script I had been working on to allow easy customization on my original EVO.
It all still works on my rooted Evo 3D without many changes!
The script automates the use of adb. Downloads and decompiles the frameworks from your evo/evo 3d. Then you can make any desired changes (examples provided). Recompiles and uploads back to device.
Offering it for people to play with. I also included precompiled framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk for those that like my choices. Otherwise use the script and create your own.
Enjoy
NEW! 1.1 Beta. Now creates flashable update zips
Beta update posted for new OTA
After recompiling your frameworks select option 5 from the Main Menu. An update.zip will be created in a directory called "flash" Try it out and please give feedback.
1 - Extract GingerScript to a folder on your desktop.
2 - Connect your phone via USB cable to your computer.
3 - Open the GingerScript folder you created and doubleclick on GingerScript.bat.
4 - Select item 1. (Process Framework-res.apk) This will download your framework-res.apk as well as create a back up in the /tools folder. When prompted, select yes to decompile this framework. This will create a folder called extracted-framework.res.
5 - This is where it gets tricky. Inside the extracted-framework.res folder, there is a folder called res. Inside THAT folder are multiple directories. The two you are concerned with are marked drawable and drawable-hdpi. *NOTE* In some builds the "drawable-hdpi" folder is named "drawable-hdpi-v4" Thats why it's best to modify your own framework.
6 - In the GingerScript folder, we will work with the Example.Icon.Framework-res.Circle.Battery folder. In this folder, you will find two directories: drawable and drawable-hdpi. Copy and paste the contents of the two directories from the Example folde into the corresponding folders in the extracted-framework.res/res directory. This may overwrite some of the files in each directory. This is okay!
7 - Go back to the script; it should still be on the gray screen. Select option 3 - recompile framework. This will take a minute or two so go grab a drink while it does its magic. It will seem to be hung; I don't have a progress bar created in the script so just hold tight while it finishes.
8 - Next, select option 4 - Upload new framework to phone. This will prompt you to put the phone in recovery mode; I'm not going to explain that part. Once the phone is in recovery mode Mount the /system partition using the recovery mount feature then press any key in the script window to push the file to your phone.
9 - At this point, clear the Dalvik Cache at a minimum and press a key once finished. the phone will reboot. Now, this provides the battery mod. To modify the other status bar icons, return to the main Menu and select option 3 to modify the systemUI.apk. The process is EXACTLY the same as the framework-res.apk but it uses the contents of the Example.Icons.SystemUI.mod directory. If problems occur, recover the backups from the /tools directory and push them to your phone.
I hope this helps. If you are still running into issues, please post what step you having issues with and remember, black and white goes with everything! *grin*

Extract the Gingerscript.zip on your Windows PC with your phone connected via USB.
Inside the folder double click on Gingerscript.bat. It's fairly easy to figure out from there, It creates a backup of the files before modification as a safety precaution. This just makes all of the framework compiliing/decompiling less of a hassle
Everything needed is in the zip file so you will need nothing except a text editor and a program to manipulate the png images. There are example folders in the zip that contain my modified png images and edited xml files
Note: The script references the use of Clockwork Mod Recovery, but TWRP works just as well. Just clear the Dalvik cache after uploading the framework. Then Reboot. I'll clean up the scripts wording at a later date
I will give it a shot here in a minute, and I will let you know how well it works.
I like your icons. Which APK does what?
The framework-res.apk contains the battery mod and a few minor icons. The rest of the status bar icons are in the SystemUI.apk.
The com-htc.resource.apk wasn't modified in my example, but it does contain images.
I wish there was a easy way to determine what resources are used but there isn't. Some status icons are located in the individual applications resource file as well (My script can't handle those)
I'm going to give this a go in a little bit when I can. Can anyone else confirm their success and any additional steps required (eg - clearing cache and dalvik). Thanks.
Can you please make a clear taskbar...thanxs

I've never been successfull creating a update.zip. I can never seem to get the syntax correct on the update-script.
If someone more experienced wants to create one, I'd love to take a look at it and see what I'm doing wrong.

Did you modify *Your* framework files or use the ones provided? The ones I used as examples are from a stock rom that is still odexed
I recommend you modify a copy of your own framework files since there may have been changes in the viper rom. It should still work. If you want you can send me a copy of your unaltered framework files and I can take a look.

That requires the creation of about 60 new icons.
Easier method. Find me the icons..or even a Original Evo mod package and I can extract the icons from that.

I tried but when i recompile it & push it in system\app with proper permission, after rebooting phone it stuck bootlogo..
The same happens when i tried to decompile DefaultThemes.apk & MusicWidget.apk they both were not installed...
then i searched & found that we have to compress the resources.arc blablablaaa... & signing with recompiling system apk..
Still after giving a lot of tries i dont understand how to use signing & compress resources.arc blablaballl idk..
If you know than may be you can teach
Rebooted my phone 100z of time to check every method i found but no success
Now i dont wana harm my phone, rebooting it again & again for the things that isn't working for me...
See this thread, i asked on xda but people aren't explaining properly, they just stop answering after certain question:crying:

Well, I am a bit on the busy side.... I assume you didn't try my tool then?
To do this manually, you need to first recompile your apk after you've done all your changes. You already know this bit.
Then:
Make a copy of the old apk
Use 7zip to open both the copy and the recompiled apk
Drag the 'res' folder from the recompiled apk to the copy
Close the copy
Extract 'resources.arsc' from the recompiled apk
Add 'resources.arsc' to the copy, selecting 'STORE' compression
Close the recompiled apk
Open the copy and check that resources.arsc has the same size and packed size
Reboot the phone and go into recovery
Mount the /system partition
Push the apk straight to the right folder
Unmount the /system partition
Reboot the phone
Wait for it all to load
Wait a bit longer
Wait a bit longer still
And you're done.
If you've pulled the app from the phone to a Windows PC then you don't need to worry about permissions. That's only when you copy the app to your sdcard or pull the app using Linux.
Going into recovery might not be needed. Pushing system apps while the phone is running can cause some nasty bugs so I always use recovery just to play it safe. You'll need to reboot most of the time anyway to see the changes you've made.
Instead of pushing, you could make a flashable zip. As an amazing coincidence, Tickle My Android can do that too.

Excellent. I'm glad it helped.
Technically, you could use any archival program but it has to be one that lets you add files to an archive without compressing them. I find 7zip to be fairly quick and user-friendly. Plus, it's free which is always a good thing.

I don't know. I don't even know if winrar can do it. That's why I suggested using 7zip instead.
To check sizes, just open the app (again, this is using 7zip) and look at the numbers to the right of resources.arsc. One is the original size of the file, the other is the size it's been compressed to. These need to be the same.

I got your pm asking me to reply to this. I do most of my android modding stuff during spare moments at work because I don't have the time at home so I'd have gotten round to answering this in time.
I'm not sure what you're doing wrong here. Since you're got my tool installed, try using that first. If that works, then we know that there's something going wrong with the manual procedure and we can fix it.
If it doesn't work, then there's something wrong with the mod you're doing and we need to fix that instead.

I suspect that you've gotten the mod wrong somewhere but unfortunately I can't advise on where that could be.

[TOOL][Restore System Apks]

Optimus L9 APK Push Tool!!
First, all credit goes to kevev for putting this all together, and saving me from pulling my hair out
Instructions via kevev readme!
This script will automatically push apk files along with a shell script to your device
under /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/APKs. It will then run the shell script which will copy
the apk files to /system/app/ and change the file permissions to 644.
No warranty included!!
Use at your own risk!!
1.) Place all apk files in the "APKs" folder that you want installed in the /system/app/ folder on your rooted device.
2.) Connect device to your computer after installing the correct adb drivers.
3.) Enable "USB Debugging" on the device and wait for the driver to install.
4.) Run "PushAPKs.bat" and reboot your device when it finishes only if there are "NO" errors.

thats what im working on, make a batch file in a dir along with a folder that you can place all apks in, click the bat and it does the rest, i asked around just waiting, i have it working for my themes in the theme section, i just want an easy way not to have to type out all that code
for every apk an odex file. a couple of lines is one thing but being able to drag anything into a folder no mater what the name, would be easy for us all!!

ya, hoping i can get help to figure it out, and yes for every .apk and odex file you would have to type it out, if your deodex a rom then it would be just .apks for the system, apks and jar files for the framework

I guess everything could have been done from the batch script. It was just starting to look messy and I am more comfortable with shell.
To tell the truth, I am very rusty with batch scripting. I haven't messed with DOS in ages. Unix all the way!

haha! If you could see some of my other scripts I think your eyes would cross and never go back to normal.
Sure, go ahead and post it. It is free code. No license necessary.

Vertu Ti theme

Is there any chance we could get the icons and the clock widget of the Vertu Ti?
That is, if anyone is willing to shell out 5K on a phone just for the sole purpose of extracting .apks from it.
If you guys tell me how I can extract the apks.

If u have a Ti(obviously),then first i think u need to get it Rooted (sometimes stock recovery does it too)in order to extract a widget that came preinstalled, then after u root it,use root explorer to go to system/app and then look out for the widget.apk's ..
Similarly, for the icons, look for the app in system/app(using root explorer, and then copy the .apk to ur sd card, put the file on ur desktop, rename it as a zip file, extract it .
Then go to the folder called res, then drawable-hdpi and all icons will be there in .png format.
But all this is useless if u havent got it rooted, because I think u wouldn't risk to lose warranty on such a phone..
Hope this helps

It helps, though there's no root solution as of now. I don't know where to start for the root, technical support won't help. Neither will the internet. There's already a topic on XDA but no solutions.
I think you don't need root for this.
Enable USB debugging, install phone drivers to your computer, then do adb pull /system/ path-to-dump-folder.
interesting...

I've yet to find appropriate drivers to connect to ADB. Whatever I do the phone also connects the MTP at the same time even if PTP is chosen. Any help would be much appreciated as I'd also like to backup the device via ADB. With the latest updates the phone is now running 4.2.2.
If I am not wrong, Root explorer does work on non-rooted phone.
you can access the /system partition for copying stuffs. (as you can understand without root it will only work in 'read only' mode).
Hi,
I was able to root my Ti using farmaroot just google it fairly simple method. You can also unroot to with this tool which is a plus. But I would like to know how do I access its recovery? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Somebody own Vertu here?
You can extract system apps quick and easy, without root, without any risk using this tool: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui&hl=en
