I'm trying to use a China Telecom SIM (a CDMA network/APN) in my Samsung Galaxy S 4G (designed for T-Mobile, GSM/WCDMA)
Is it possible?
Has a CDMA ROM for SGS4G (or other GSM/WCDMA phone) been developed? I think the conversion would take some crazy coding. Is this a surefire way to brick my phone?
SGH-T959V on Android 2.2.1
Baseband vr: T959VUVKD1
Kernel vr: 2.6.32.9
Buid No. FROYO.VUVKD1
All stock
Rooted, SIM unlocked

I have a rooted telus fascinate 3G+ and unlocked. I am currently running it on Bell Mobility canada. I have flashed a variety of GB custom ROM's and its a happy camper although the phone thinks its I9000 now. Here is my question, i have tried xxJVP modem, TLJL3 modem, UGKC1 modem ( bell's) all of them work no problem. But when i flash the T-mobile Vibrant Modem ( KB1, KB5) etc and enable all four WCDMA bands ( 850,1900 (PCS), 1700, 2100 ( AWS)) it picks up no signal. I guess this would mean that this modem FW is not compatible with my hardware? Any thoughts.
anyone with some insight?
I had the same problem (I am on a VZW Fascinate flashing a USCC ROM) and the solution was to change the APN.

Hi guys,
I'm currently an AT&T customer who's thinking to switch to Tmobile's
$30/month for Unlimited text&web plan
After googled some articles regarding AT&T X10a and the Tmobile(USA) 3G
I'm still not really clear about some key facts.
Please allow me to explain my situation now:
Origin: I bought it from AT&T store
Unlocked? YES
Model: X10a (I found this on the sticker located on the back of my phone)
********************************************************
But I flashed to different baseband and ROM
Info. I found in the "About Phone"
Model number: X10i
Android version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: 2.1.71
Kerel version:2.6.29-00054-g5f01537
[email protected]#1
ROM: Wolf_Xperia_6.0.0s (Android 2.3)
I found a thread and somebody mentioned about:
"The AT&T XPERIA X10A supports the 850HMz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100HMz bands. So since the phone doesn't support the needed 1700MHz band, the phone will be stuck with 2G speed on the T-Mobile network if you continue using the Sony Ericsson generic world 2.1 (for X10A) firmware."
Currently, I am using AT&T SIM card and data plan as well, and I have NO problem getting "H" at most of the time and sometimes "3G"
Q1: Is that means my phone is STILL X10a but not X10i which was shown
in the "About Phone"?
Q2: I will NOT get Tmobile HSPA/3G working on my phone, unless I get a X10i?
or I can flash it and/or de-brand it?
This question might be asked somewhere, but my case is a bit different,
since I am using different baseband and ROM from stock.
If anyone had same experience and/or you already knew the answer,
please help me out
Thanks in advance
James
X10a will remain x10a even though it shows x10i. For the 3g I am pretty sure T-Mobile is 1900Mhz for gsm? Correct me if I am wrong
Sent from my Xperia X10 using XDA App
Thanks, that helps a lot.
btw I knew that T-mobile uses 1700/2100 for its HSPA

Yes, like jailbroken iphones, an X10a will only receive at about 119kbps (edge) when connected to T-Mobile network.

Hi, I have got an Auszralian Version (Telstra) of the Galaxy Ace S5830t. This Version supports 850/2100mhz Hsdpa Bands.
However I've been wondering if it is possible to change the Bands using different Modem Firmwares to support 900mhz.
I have already tried the debugging Menu and reading through the existing Post points towards Problems when using undesignated firmwares.
I'm currently running a official android 2.3.5. My current believe points towards the Bands being hardcoded in the Modem and that I might have to buy a different phone
Any help would be awesome.
I have a friend who bought an unlocked SIII that supports GSM so he can use it with T-Mobile. However it doesn't have the radios to connect and get 3g or 4g. Will rooting and installing a custom rom or give him this feature? I would think that the hardware supports it but I'm not sure. They do list 3g for AT&T but only 2g for T-Mobile. Here is the phone he bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176412
Does anyone have experience with this?
Flash stock rom with correct modem and CSC for your location .
Custom rom will not have correct modem and CSC in all probability .

Hi, I need help.
So, I bought 2 moto E 2015 model (at&t unlocked) from Ebay - very cheap.
But this phones working with only 2G mode in my country (even theese are LTE models ).
I want to reinstall system to better one - which there is no any at&t default applications or any of carrier applications.
And I also want to change baseband versions - because, this phone working only with 2G network type with my country's mobile carriers. I think it should be for baseband (network standarts) .
is it possible to fix problem with change firmware and baseband to no-contract version?
I asked my mobile carrier, they said, "we are using 900-1800 MHZ for GSM ; 900-2100 for 3G, 2100 for LTE (up to 2100)
Who can provide how to and links?
Thanks.
The AT&T model cannot be bootloader unlocked, so you cannot change the firmware to another version. There's a guide in the General forum about enabling additional LTE bands, you can try tweaking it for 3G, but there's no guarantee that the AT&T model's antenna hardware can support those bands.
