[Q] X10a with Custom ROM works with Tmobile 3G? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm currently an AT&T customer who's thinking to switch to Tmobile's
$30/month for Unlimited text&web plan
After googled some articles regarding AT&T X10a and the Tmobile(USA) 3G
I'm still not really clear about some key facts.
Please allow me to explain my situation now:
Origin: I bought it from AT&T store
Unlocked? YES
Model: X10a (I found this on the sticker located on the back of my phone)
********************************************************
But I flashed to different baseband and ROM
Info. I found in the "About Phone"
Model number: X10i
Android version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: 2.1.71
Kerel version:2.6.29-00054-g5f01537
[email protected]#1
ROM: Wolf_Xperia_6.0.0s (Android 2.3)
I found a thread and somebody mentioned about:
"The AT&T XPERIA X10A supports the 850HMz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100HMz bands. So since the phone doesn't support the needed 1700MHz band, the phone will be stuck with 2G speed on the T-Mobile network if you continue using the Sony Ericsson generic world 2.1 (for X10A) firmware."
Currently, I am using AT&T SIM card and data plan as well, and I have NO problem getting "H" at most of the time and sometimes "3G"
Q1: Is that means my phone is STILL X10a but not X10i which was shown
in the "About Phone"?
Q2: I will NOT get Tmobile HSPA/3G working on my phone, unless I get a X10i?
or I can flash it and/or de-brand it?
This question might be asked somewhere, but my case is a bit different,
since I am using different baseband and ROM from stock.
If anyone had same experience and/or you already knew the answer,
please help me out
Thanks in advance
James

X10a will remain x10a even though it shows x10i. For the 3g I am pretty sure T-Mobile is 1900Mhz for gsm? Correct me if I am wrong
Sent from my Xperia X10 using XDA App

Thanks, that helps a lot.
btw I knew that T-mobile uses 1700/2100 for its HSPA

Yes, like jailbroken iphones, an X10a will only receive at about 119kbps (edge) when connected to T-Mobile network.

[Q] No 3G Mini X10 Pro (U20i)

Hi all, I'm Martin from Argentina, I write to ask and know if you can help me or guide me to find a solution.
I have a U20i that brought me outside.
When I received the phone had Android 1.6 and upgrade to 2.1.
I do not remember if the previous version had 3G, with almost no use.
My phone provider supports 850 and 1900 MHz bands.
In the configuration, network mode, I can see options:
- WCDMA
- GSM
- GSM / WCDMA (preferred)
When I search for available networks, I see only 2G networks.
Phone Details:
Mobile Network Type: EDGE
Firmware Version: 2.1-Update1
Kernel Version: 02/06/1929
Build Number: 2.1.1.A.0.6
Can you help me get a 3G signal?
PD: Sorry for my English
Thank you very much.
Greetings.
U20i does not support 3G on the 850/1900 bands. No one can help you get 3G signals with that phone.
Than you...
I confirm that I have an U20i

[Q] Help instaling new radio

Hi there, my system is:
Radio: N_01.77.07P
Webtop: OSHWT_U1_6.66.0
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Versão: OLYLA_U4_0.50.0 (Blur_Version_0.50.3.MB860.Vivo.en.BR)
Id like to install a new radio.zip on it, cause my cellphone is too hot, and the internet connection is very slow, on 3g and wifi. But I have some questions:
1. Im sure that my phone is not the at&t, I bought it here om Brazil from VIVO, so can I use the bell radio?
2. Is there a way to me backup my 77.07p radio?
Please help me with the 3 questions.
Thanks

[Q] Using a CDMA APN network on a GSM/WCDMA phone

I'm trying to use a China Telecom SIM (a CDMA network/APN) in my Samsung Galaxy S 4G (designed for T-Mobile, GSM/WCDMA)
Is it possible?
Has a CDMA ROM for SGS4G (or other GSM/WCDMA phone) been developed? I think the conversion would take some crazy coding. Is this a surefire way to brick my phone?

Weird problem with my X10a, can't enable 3G

Hi, My name is Masaki, I'm from Peru, I have a problem with my Xperia X10a, my phone was operator locked (I buy it from my friend, he uses this phone with movistar operator but I have a line with another operator called claro.
My friend say he can unlock the operator lock, for this, he use a program called medusa box, after a few minutes he finally can unlock the phone, but, now, the phone only can connect to edge band, the 3G don't work anymore, somebody can help me?
Masaki
PS:
All work ok in the phone, I tried original rom (android 2.1), updated rom (2.3.3) custom rom... custom kernel, with no result...
when I choose "only WCDMA mode", I lost the singal (phone and data) and a error appear (no operator found), only work when I use "GSM only" or "prefered WCDMA to GSM" (but work in GSM/edge mode only)
the local operator (both) are X10a band compatible
Did you try relocking the phone ?
Maybe a bad unlock procedure.

weird problem
can't lock again with that soft.
You can try this. I found that in some roms it is more easy to change than in others. Miui roms seem to have more settings to change than stock based roms.

Since Claro doesn't use 2100 MHz band you will have Edge only. Or switch to carrier with 2100 band for 3G.

Well, if 850 and 1900 are what is supported in your Country, and both 850 and 1900 are not available in the X10i, it probably would be best for you to sell the X10i and buy an X10a.

Since your OP stated it was an X10i, that would have been the problem with no hspa. I am not sure but perhaps restoring to original 2.3.3 and baseband following the link below exactly might get your hspa working. Good luck.

people have helped you and you need to find a new carrier as the one you have dose not support the radio frequencies of the x10a try to trade sell it and buy a x10i or get a carrier that supports the radio of the phone you have.
x10a
My local carrier (both) work with Xperia X10a, X10i don't work here.
try if you can get a band on another carrier preferably does have the the
2100mhz band just to confirm that your radio is working

Found a solution yet?? I have a similar problem with my X10a.
I'm with Telcel in México, simlocked (i got my cellphone from Telcel), but the radio signal is not working, tried with another sim card and got the same result...
carrier
there is only 2 carrier in my country, and don't work with 2100 freq
No, my problem is not solved. any ideas?
tried reflashing x10a baseband? any errors when forcing 3g mode? e.g can't enable radio etc.... ?

GSM noise during phone call in GSM MODE - Baseband version ?

Hi everybody,
i read several forums regarding the gsm noise problem during a phonecall in 2g (gsm mode) with the Xperia S.
For those devices, it doesn't matter if you change the carrier or the the Simcard itself, it is still the same effect.
1) I have unrooted german Xperia S, running the newest manufacturer version 4.0.4
Carrier is T-Mobile
2) My work partner has the same phone but with carrier branding (T-Mobile) , running newest manufacturer version 4.0.4
Carrier is T-Mobile
What i alread did:
- I put my sim card in the branded 2) phone and didn't had those gsm noises in 2g mode.
- I figured out that he has also a better Wifi receiption at the exact same position then my 1) phone
- I took a look at the baseband version and saw that he has a newer one than me with his branded phone ? (Attachment)
The search function didn't brought me further so i was forced to creat this thread in the Q&A area (hopefully the right one)
I want to upgrade my baseband version to the same mentioned version.
Guess I have to root it first etc.
Anyway, is there any database with baseband versions for the Xperia s incl. tutorial etc. ?
Thanks for helping in advance
