Is the trackpad on the dock meant to be clickable in the middle (beneath the divider line of course)?
I find mine easy to click over the left hand side, and also over on the right, but nigh on impossible to click down in the middle..
Does my trackpad have a fault?
There isn't a middle click. The middle click setting in the settings menu is for if you connect a mouse.
I mean that it is really stiff and hard to click in the middle, rather than it not sending a function the UI picks up on if that makes sense?

I don't believe it's supposed to be clickable in the middle.

What exactly are the uses of the trackpad on the dock?
Curious

I've had the trackpad disabled since day 1. Don't know why people would want to use it. If you want to use the trackpad, why not just get a netbook or laptop? Why buy a tablet if you're afraid to use the touchscreen?

I agree. Aside from the fact I don't like using trackpads, the screen is right there. Why would I go to a trackpad when I can just point at what I want ?
When I don't use a bluetooth mouse, I actually use the trackpad... I've found that if you are using the keyboard, it's easier to use the trackpad than reach up the screen every time. It sounds like reaching for the screen isn't a big deal, but I just found it easier to use the trackpad. I just wish Asus would disable the trackpad while typing!

So the trackpad gives you a cursor?
I can see where this would be both useful and unnecessary.

Absolutely - the trackpad works just like a trackpad on a laptop - it even allows you to "tap" to click and has a physical left and right mouse buttons beneth it. I actually find it useful when I don't have a mouse - especially when doing RDP sessions as it gives you finer control....
The trackpad is very useful. See: websites like xda that have ****ty advertisements that popup and cover the screen and require you to hit a very tiny x to close it. Impossible on touchscreen, easy with trckpad.

Hahahaha. I've been using an anti-ad script for so long I forgot there are even ads on this website.
I like the trackpad because it doesn't get my screen all icky with fingerprints. And yeah, web browsing is often made easier by having a small cursor. I browse almost exclusively in desktop mode, so most of the UI elements show up tiny.

same like me, just using it for tiny links like the pages in forums.
otherwise i use the screen
greetings
its the best of both worlds surely!!
at least we have the option to use the trackpad if we want, plenty of other tablets owners dont have that option, lets be thankful for what we have here eh?
;-)
Well I hoped that Asus after TF101 realized that the have to improve the build quality of their tablets. Imagine my madness when I discovered my new Prime is creaking...!!!
A little below of Top left corner of prime. God.....
TF101 was creaking but I never would thought that TF201 will be creaking too!
I thought it will be as good made as Ipad....
Well Asus - this is the last tablet I have bought from you...
Also got a question about the screen. Some times I can sense and see that despite of auto brightness off that the screen adjusts its brightness by itself. It is a little change but my sharp eyes can see this...
Do you have a similar thing?
Contrast changes dynamically when set to power saving mode.
TF201 / XDA premium
Yes I know. But I use all modes and feel the same that sometimes the screen changes a little the brightnes.
my prime seems pretty solid. maybe the glue on your glass panel needs to still set more. Man, Asus has really came up with hit or misses on a tablet being flawed or not. this is a great device though. at the area where you said you hear creaking, does it look like the panel is not flush there? where did you buy it from? you can always exchange it. I know some don't like having to send it off n wait for another one. hearing some of these panel or touchscreen issues be making me check mines on the spot. luckily mines don't show those symptoms.
Yes the brightness changes based on the lighting of the area at the time; it's called auto-adjusting. That is normal and I like that.
Mine is loose and not flush with the device on the bottom right but it is not a huge deal to me

If you push in on the glass in this spot does your volume rocker move?
no it does not
That sucks man. I would be really annoyed if i had a creak in my prime. I have to wonder if they rushed through fixing the wifi issues and damaged some of the primes while in the process. I have seen all of the pics with the scratched bezels that look like the techs were using a flat-head screwdriver to pry these things apart. I'm not sure if mine never went for repair or if the tech that did mine just had the right tools and skills but it seems to be a perfect specimen physically at least. I would love to read an inside account of this product release.

The brightness changes when using this app huh? When u touch the screen to scroll it quickly brightens then goes to normal? It seems like the xda app not the prime
Modded by MBOK
I have an HTC G2, and whenever I touch the screen on a lighter background it changes the tone of the background to a pinkish color. It does it in XDA app as well as web browser, almost anything with a white-ish background. Sounds similar to what your experiencing, it only happens when you touch the screen, right?
the problem with the self adjusting brightness accurs while playing or watching youtube. It doesnt matter if am toutching screen or using dock keybord or just a mouse. I do not know if it is on purpose.
Did you notice the same issue?

I do. None of the other issues but noticed this brightness geekin out with the xda app
Ugh. Mine starting creaking today. It is like the left hand side of the screen has separated something. The right side feels solid. The left has flex to it - like the glass gives ever so slightly, resulting in a very annoying 'click'.
This really sucks, because otherwise the device is fine (no stuck pixels, wifi and GPS works). Guess I'll wait a week or so for Best Buy to get some local stock before taking it in for exchange.

I noticed that my xda app and all Tapatalk apps change brightness for some reason when pressing things I went into the settings on the app and changed the theme to dark works great now. I I also get a creak where my volume rocker is which is cool with me I figure its just because the gap where the rocker is I just don't press it

My TF101 had this and my TF201 does wiggle a bit in the top left. It makes sense with the volume controls there.
Can you use the prime as a tablet only with the keyboard dock attached? What I mean is can you attach the keyboard backwards so the keyboard is covered by the tablet and you're only adding the additional battery? Or fold the keyboard completely over and turn it off so even if you press a key it doesn't register?
Not something I'd do always but it'd be a nice feature to have as an option.
No this isn't possible.

Thanks guys. That's too bad; oh well, not a deal breaker but it would have been nice.
The EEE slider seems more of an option that you might like. Though it has last years specs. Maybe a new one is on the way?
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Slider_SL101/
So Apple has me into the whole "inverted" scrolling on trackpads... now I can't get used to it being one way on my prime and another on my macbook.
The hard solution is sell the mac and buy a new laptop...
The easier solution... is there a way to invert it on the prime?
Try Settings-> Asus Customized settings. Then on the cursor option, change to gesture mode. I think that will yield the results you're looking for.
Indeed it does... however it also changes the mouse cursor to a giant circle?
Can you uninvert it on the Mac? Then your Mac and prime will match too.

I just wished that swiping on the keyboard acted the same as it does on the Prime itself! Lol, I hate going from moving my hand one way on the screen to the opposite way on the trackpad.
I'm already used to it, but I shouldn't have had to get that way: seems counter-intuitive this way doesn't it?
yes. its annoying.
Just get an external mouse. 30 bucks and I can use the scrollwheel too.

Um. Why? No, I have plenty of wireless mice, but then why did I buy a $150 dock with a trackpad? In some situations I do use a mouse/keyboard, but that still solves nothing about the trackpad swiping - you don't swipe side to side with a mouse wheel.
I know the tablet has had its share of issues (luckily I haven't really been affected by any of them). But are there any keyboard-specific issues I should be aware of? I'm considering buying a used keyboard, but want to be sure there aren't any "gremlins" I need to be aware/afraid of before purchasing...
Thanks!

I haven't had any issues myself or seen any reports. Just keep the ports clean and don't leave it on the charger. Longer than it needs to be. I use this thing all day except for work and short rides.

The only thing I'm starting to notice after having the dock for two months is the hinge is getting a little loose. Anyone else have this problem?
I bought mine used and have been using it for a while now with no issues. My hinge seems fine aswell.
No issues so far with my dock, either.
Hinge is secure and tight, and it's held up well.
It also adds alot to the pleasure of owning a Transformer Prime! There are times that having it docked, and acting like a netbook, really is a great option!
Also love the additional battery life, and easier typing.
Have had 0 issues witht eh dock since I bought it and the Prime new in January. Absolutely a great addition to the tablet.
Have any of you had issues with using keyboard shortcuts in browser, or with the cursor jumping to the first space? When I am docked and use browsing shortcuts (ctrl+arrow, ctrl+click) it causes the browser to start opening everything in new tabs. Also, the cursor will jump to the beginning of fields sometimes.

I have the same problem. The hinge got loose after two months.
My keyboard is working fine, but I've noticed that the keys aren't perfectly level. For example, my E key is recessed slightly more on the front edge of the key, and doesn't line up with the other keys. It doesn't impact my typing, but it does feel a little strange. Hinge isn't "loose" but it's not as stiff as it was. It doesn't flop around.
My dock has been fine since I purchased it back in February, with no issues. Hinge is still fine too. However some people in general seem to think their dock cracked their screen from leaving it in and closing it (think its called my screen cracked or something). I leave mine in and close and take it apart frequently with no problem but just another one of those things that are out there being discussed
indeed some people including myself are experiencing cracking noises when closing the tab\dock..
this is solved by tightening some screws on the bottom behind the rubber feet..
unfortunally the cracking has come back and im getting more and more annoyed about this so called premium device......

1. Have to press space bar really hard for space key to work
2. When i connect keyboard my tab is too slow
3. As you may know mouse pad is too sensitive that cursor jumps all around when typing

There is a fix found for the loose pivot point. Under the rubber coasters on the dock collection side. There are 2 screws. Tighten them and u will b good as new

The top part of mine pops out of its holding pins every so often especially when I swivel the tablet through an angle. Very annoying loosening of the part
