Hidden Menus - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Does anyone know if there are "hidden menus" on these Players? On a phone you access them through the phone dial pad. Like dialing *#0*# or some such string. I see an app called "Dialer" in Manage Applications, but nothing in the app drawer to access a dialer to try anything.
I had come across this about calibrating the compass and wanted to try it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15343119&postcount=16

The link you posted is not working for me.

idk, but concerning the compass, have you tried the figure 8? This video shows how; its not just a horizontal figure 8

Hope it helps!

Sorry, link updated. It seems (from all I've researched), that the compass just doesn't work on 2.3.5, on Galaxy Players... the reason I am looking for any "hidden menus" that might have some sensor settings. I've tried calibrating every which-way, just points in any random direction, then gets stuck (stops rotating).

accelerometer bug in google sky maps

This happens when I use the search feature in g sky maps or choose a location from gallery. The sky map gets "stuck".and the only way to resolve this is to reboot. (even the "restart Android interface"works) I ran tricorder and scanned the compass and the accelerometer vectors. Comp pass was working on all the axes but acc. was stuck in all axes. The inclinometer app also confirmed this.
I googled and found that people do have problems with compass when using sky map s, but in my case its the acc. and not the compass. I also tried shaking my phone, as stsed by some sites, but thats only for compass issues, so it didn't work for me. I think its a O1 specific issue?
Have any if the o1 users successfully got search in sky maps to work without getting "stuck"?
Just draw eight figure(or just spin few times) with o1 in air, that sometimes helps when acc or compass is frozen.

Already tried those stuffs man, read the post. anyways, did u get the search to work?
Well another strange thing- in "sensor debug" app, the pitch, roll and azimuth values change add I tilt my phone, but force on x y and z axes remain constant...

[Q] links not clicking in some apps??

My vs985 is on CM12 (12-20150221). I first noticed this morning that in the dolphin browser, I cannot click on links to browse to pages. If I do, nothing happens. However I can long click on links to open a menu showing "open in new tab, open in background etc.". I can also click and type in the address bar, but for example when I pull open the dolphin menu, I cannot select anything in the menu! I thought it was just dolphin but weird clicking behavior seems to be happening in other apps. For example in the Amazon app, I can search but cannot click on any products to see details. Firefox seems to work more (I can click on links). This was working fine over the weekend so I am confused. Youtube, Gmail seem to work fine. Could it be some kind of bug that only effects certain types of web displays like that might be behind the scenes in Amazon app and Dolphin? I've searched around but cannot find anything similar reported. I will continue to test....
UPDATE: I thought I had rebooted, but had not, anyway this seems to have fixed.... weird....

Android compass calibration gets reset on closing app

Hi, all. Was just hoping to get some help with something. And, apologies for cross-posting, but full disclosure: I did first ask the question on Stack Overflow and got no response. I'm not allowed link it here yet, but it's got the same title as this post.
I'm using the rotation vector sensor on a tablet as a compass in my app. It works well enough after calibration (via figure-8 method), but the moment I close and re-open my app, it's all over the place and needs to be re-calibrated again. This happens instantly, without moving around, when outside and in the open. The compass is working, a quick close and re-open of the app, and the compass is off. This test was run on a Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2.
Other apps, such as Google Maps, don't seem to have this problem. Might I be doing something wrong, or is there some way to persist the calibration state of the compass?

Mate 10 pro Gboard issue

Hi, I have a Mate 10 pro (italy market) single sim.
I have downloaded Gboard but when i open the settings for activate the keyboard it is not selectable.
it appears in gray, while the other keyboards are selectable.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall several times but the problem remains.
can you help me?
I found a solution alone. I write it here for anyone who could have this problem. in the settings menu, in the search field I wrote "keyboard", among the results I selected "virtual keyboard" and from this menu I found in the list of entries again "virtual keyboard" and here finally I could enable gboard.
Worked perfectly. Thanks!!!
I'll revive an old thread.
What do you mean "download"? Do you have the Huawei keyboard with your phone? I'm in the USA, and here it COMES with Gboard, and i much rather use the Huawei keyboard, but i can't find it. Would you or anyone with the apk upload it somewhere? Thank you
Huawei keyboard is shiftkey

Does it at least transform the 2 seconds to text? Go to app settings and have a look if it has permission to use mic. Maybe just reset app by deleting app data....I had this issue before but can't remember how I fixed it.. I just remember it wasn't complicated.
PS: voice to text sends you voice to the Google server. Maybe your internet connection is weak or something in your Google account settings prevents this feature (maybe privacy settings you adjusted)

Thanks for the reply.
It will record for about 3 seconds then just stops typing. The "listening" is still displayed too, but just stops typing.
My internet connection is good.
I also have a Mate 9 and it works just fine.
I deleted the Gboard app all together, then reinstalled and it worked for about 3 times, then same thing.
I have the mic permission turned on. It's wierd. I live in Thailand and this is the dual SIM version BLA-L29.
Same here. Annoying AF

Unwanted Vchat App icon appeared on home screen, but not in application manager

I just noticed that an application was added to my home screen called Vchat. I didn't install this app. I checked the application manager and my account in the play store and this app doesn't appear in either. I'm not really sure what this is and what the best way to remove it is. I haven't clicked on it. I also notice random ads popping up after the unlocking the screen, though they are very sporadic.
I'm on a LG G5, the verizon version, running android 7.0.
Girlfriend also has this on her Samsung Galaxy A5, couldn't identify an app in app list which matched. Removed from home screen and hoped it was simply a sketchy weblink. Will follow post to ensure phone is secure or if an app needs removing. Seems to have appeared in last 24 hours.
I tried running avast and malwarebytes on my phone. Neither of those detected anything.
Came up 3/30
I Googled this yesterday, glad I did again today to find this forum. I bought this phone March 22nd and I am noticing my lock screen button stopped working around the same time the app appeared. This phone is brand new from amazon and I am about to return it, but something tells me this issue is software related as the button was working fine on 3/29 and now it clicks and is responsive to the touch, but it will only "sometimes" lock the screen. Right now it is fully functioning, but it will start to fail if I have too many apps open, or if I am running a game. It specifically won't work while in an app, but will work when on the home screen with no apps open.
On top of all of this, my phone has been getting weird ads, but male ware detection doesn't see it, also, the phone is a lot slower now. Whatever this is, I don't want to be connected to it.
Update: the v stands for Vietnamese. The app is some Vietnamese chatting service. Googled "vchat' you guess should try it too.

I did look it up and found that. I'm just trying to figure out how it got there and how to remove it.

I got frustrated trying to figure out how to remove this app, so I decided to restore the phone to factory defaults. I've only had the phone for a month, so I didn't have much on it.
Galaxy S5
I have a Galaxy S5 Android version 6.0.1 and this URL shortcut also appeared on my homesceen. Likewise I would like to know what app / service was used to create this advertisement so I can disable / uninstall it.
