Launch an apk from an apk - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i am using Tasker to launch few apps for gps navigation as Maps, Music player and radar detector.
But Tasker is using a lot of battery.
So I'd like to create an apk with buttons as New, go back to Home with or without music.
I ve create the graphical part with eclipse but i don't know how to launch apks when pressing buttons.
Have to define the app as needing root and so how to do that.
Thanks a lot for your answers.

Does the new TW have a recent app from pull down?

I have my 1st Android, a sensation XE, I like the way that the pull down menu has recently used apps. I know that you can hold home key down, but that's for active apps.
I haven't used TW before, does it have this?
Nope.
10chars
Thanks, pity I like that function. So its just the quick shortcuts for Wifi, BT, GPS etc? No customisation?
I dnot see an option of specifying app shortcuts in the pull down but when I plugin the earphones it shows apps like YouTube, movie player and music player as suggestions.

[Q] Easy way to quit Stock Music app?

Is there an easy way to quit the stock Music app?
In most other apps, you can quit them from the drop down menu, but it doesn't work with the TW Music app.
Am I missing something? I know you can exit the app from the menu at the bottom, but it's rather cumbersome to fiddle around like that.
if your device is rooted than you can do it 2 ways....
1.- install titanium backup and FREEZE the misuc player app.
2.- install link2sd and FREEZE the music player app.
Done...
Would removing it from the recent-apps list accomplish your goals? (This should make it clean up its resources and the OS will probably kill it really soon if it doesn't.) Long-press the Home key and swipe it out of the app list.

Nfc to toggle tv power

I'm missing something. I know how to use automateit or tasker to do the little things like toggle radio state and whatnot. But I want to use tasker to execute a specific task within an app and I seem to be coming up blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This would only be possible if the app itself has tasker integration allowing it OR if there is a specific app activity for the action in which case you could install AutoCut (allows Tasker to trigger shortcuts) and Nova Launcher which allows you to pick app activities as shortcuts.

I figured it out. In the ir thread there was a guy who made a plug-in to use the binary code with Tasker. It works perfect. Thanks though.

Take a look

I like the okay Google feature available for GEL but I use nova for the features and lose the ability for voice control UNLESS I long press menu and get to the Google now app..my question is..Is it possible to add the voice control features to nova without using GEL or long pressing a cap key ?

There are some alternatives but none of them work as well as the OK Google in GEL. The best solution IMO is Open Mic+, which even allows you to change the hot word (from OK Google to any other English phrase) and also activate Google Now by waving above your phone (though very buggy) or shaking the phone (also somewhat buggy). Additionally, Open Mic+ is always listening so you can activate in any app.
Another way to set up quick access through Nova is by going to Nova settings, selecting "Gestures and Buttons", and setting "Home Button" to Voice Search. This allows you to go directly into Google Now Voice search with just one regular short press of the home button.
Hope I helped.

I've used open mic+ when it first came out as a beta app and I wasn't overly impressed...I had an idea of using tasker to set up a task of using OK Google on top of nova launcher but I'm sure that can't be done BC I'm pretty sure OKG is part of GELs mainframe

[Q] Lock screen issues with music apps

I am having a problem where a majority of the time when I am on my lock screen it does not give me the option to change the track on whatever music app I am using. This was one of my favorite features of KitKat where I was introduced to the album art on the lock screen and given the option to change the track. Now about 75% of the time I have to fully unlock my phone to access my Spotify music app on the home screen. Can anyone resolve this issue for me?
Try removing the smart button app for the original headphones button. It worked for me.
