[Help] Intratech's branded rom not recognized by Kies? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says. Why is it that I cannot see my phones version on Kies? I thought by flashing the courier branded rom I would have my phone reset to how it was when I had just got it? If I'm not doing something or doing something wrong please tell me. Official ICS is due to release soon, and all the versions I have tried through the roms on these boards are not 100% stable, so I would like to have my phone back to how it was.

Best to ask in intratechs thread??
Will help him if you give some details like your device model, carrier firmware version and what steps you have taken when you flashed.
I recommend you stay with Odin and give kies the flick.
Use checkfus app from market to see if there are any firmware updates and then download from intratech and flash with Odin.
Good luck.

[Q] Offical version for India - samsung galaxy s2

Hi,
So i updated my galaxy s2 firmware to latest indian firmware available on this site. (Plz check attached screenshot).... all went well & the battery life has improved aswell.
The problem is kies does not like odin software updates so in future i will need to depend on these sites for firmware updates... which somehow i dont prefer.
What i want is offical firmware for galaxy s2 (India) which kies will recoginze... can any one help me with the link...
Thx
You are on KF3, which is the official latest firmware available for India, so why would you worry? You are fine enough to receive updates via Kies. Just connect your phone to Kies and it will say, 'This is the latest firmware'.
Besides, you can download official firmwares from www.samfirmware.com OR from Intratech's thread here under Dev section.
Regards.
Well, this may help. What you already have will be recognized by Kies because its stock.
It says "This version of the device cannot be updated"
(Check screenshot)
why does it says that.
Any helps guys ????
"It says "This version of the device cannot be updated""
So what have you done to deserve this? lol.....
Jokes apart, why did you update from Odin if you wanted to update to a Stock Rom (KF3)only? You could have left your firmware untampered if you wished to update via Kies only.
Obviously the KF3 which you have flashed via Odin is not exactly the same as the one that comes from Kies, otherwise why would it say, "This version of the device cannot be updated"..........or maybe it means the same as "this is the latest version"? Now you will be able to confirm this only when a new firmware update is available in India via Kies, which should be soon.
Guys I can use this firmware(see screenshot below) right? As mentioned in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
That one is the official Samsung firmware right? Samfirmware.com still shows KE8 as latest for India, so I am a bit confused.
Kies shows the update is available but I cant update using Kies, it is a real pain. So want to download the official Samsung firmware and then update using Odin.
Thanks.

You need to go back to the OFFICIAL STOCK ROM OF KE8 first. Then after that, you will be able to update to KF3 via Kies.

I am on the Official stock ROM of KE8. And Kies tell me that the update is available(KF3). The matter is I don't want to update using Kies, because of the bad experiences in the past. It half-bricked my phone twice while midway in the update process. And it always drops the connection while downloading the firmware. I no longer want to use Kies.
So what I was asking is that, in the screenshot above, that is the official samsung firmware right? I want to update my firmware using Odin not Kies.
I hope you understand.

R3Y, is Reborn4U also your id? From the conversation that has gone on in this thread so far, it certainly seems both are your ids. If they are, then I'm sorry to say that you're contradicting yourself so much that you are not making any sense! First you posted (as Reborn4u), "What i want is offical firmware for galaxy s2 (India) which kies will recoginze... can any one help me with the link...". And now you are saying, "So what I was asking is that, in the screenshot above, that is the official samsung firmware right? I want to update my firmware using Odin not Kies." .......... Do you see the contradiction in both these statements?
Anyway, I'm assuming your last statement to be true that you want to update firmware using Odin and not Kies. So if that is the case, then why do you care whether you have the official samsung firmware or not? If you want to use Odin only, then forget Kies.....why do care whether Kies will recognize your firmware or not! ........ The latest official Samsung firmware for India is KF3. If samfirmware shows KE8 as the latest official firmware for India, then they are wrong!
So after all your confusing statements, my suggestion to you is to upgrade to either KG3 or KG5 which are available on XDA forum. You will also get Android 2.3.4 with them which you don't get with KF3. And if you want to use Odin, then forget about Kies completely. Cheers!
Sorry to disappoint you but no that is not my id. Now when you are confusing yourself thinking that is my id and combining his and my questions and making all kinds of assumptions yourself, I cannot help.
I never said I care about Kies. My question was simple, I want to flash my phone with official samsung firmware using Odin and asked whether the file in that screenshot is official samsung firmware or not.
Thanks for you help(If any)
I have better things to do than making useless double ids.

R3Y, the confusion was created by you mentioning "that screenshot". I thought you were talking about the screenshot posted by Reborn4u. What you had posted looked more like a Copy-pasted text than a screenshot, hence the confusion. Also, your question is the exact opposite of the OP question......but still, sorry for the confusion. My mistake.

How get firmware updates for rooted SGS2

I rooted my phone based on one the thread here, but how/where do I get any firmware updates??
Keep your eye on this thread.

Rooting has nothing to do with firmware upgrades, if you were able to get updates via Kies, then you will continue receiving the updates, if you don't receive updates from Kies, then Odin is the only way, and the above thread is full of Official firmwares, which you could use to use with Odin.
Regards.

Sifting through that thread only to find a POSSIBLE update is a real chore, isn't there is place that only displays the latest firmwares for each version, no questions asked? (mine is XWKF3)
Thanks
There is an app called "check fus" that will do exactly what you want.
Whenever you update you loose root. Simply flashing the cfroot kernel that matches the kernel in the update gives you root again. Takes a few seconds via Odin whenever needed.
Check for updates using checkfus then download the no wipe update from intratechs thread (it will be there) and flash, then download cfroot kernel from chainfires thread and flash.
Kies is slow and has problems.

Thanks about the tip about "check fus". I installed it and it says there is an update for 'NEE' (Nordic countries) which is correct and where I am, and the product code I currently have is exactly the one below (but not the SWVER though!):
Code:
Nordic countries
Product Code: GT-I9100LKANEE
Version: Android 2.3.3
HIDSWVER: I9100XWKDD/I9100OXXKDC/I9100XXKDH/I9100XWKDD
but I don't understand the PDA version it recommends (XWKI8), as that version, according to the website of "fus", belongs to Kazakhstan (but the version is newer):
Code:
Kazakhstan
Product Code: GT-I9100LKASKZ
Version: Android 2.3.5
HIDSWVER: I9100XWKI8/I9100OXEKI2/I9100XXKI4/I9100XWKI8
So how am I supposed to interpret this? Should I really install a version for Kazakhstan, even though the product code nor any of the SWVERs does not coincide with what I have now??
Maybe someone like intratech could answer that for you.

A quick update: I connected my phone to Kies and it also suggested the KI8 firmware update, so I decided to go ahead and update right there and then, and it worked fine, I'm now on 2.3.5.
But now I want to root, and going back to the original CF-root thread, on which I relied for my first root, it says that the corresponding KI8 kernel is "insecure" (while the previous kernel was "secure"):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17704099&postcount=6
What does it mean that it's "insecure"? Why the difference compared to the previous, secure kernel?
Thanks for the help!

[Q] Possible to force firmware installation?

I downloaded the new firmware via OTA on my rotted phone, and it didn't install. I re-rooted it with CF-Root 6.3, but now If I check for software update it says "no update available." The build though is still the old I9300XXALE8 instead of ALF6, so I guess it isn't updated.
Is the updated firmware file saved somewhere, and if yes can I install it via CWM?
What else can I do?
Thanks
Jay
umm you could try sammobile or this link to go directly to sgs3 european official roms
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9300&r=1#regiona
and flash it using odin/mobile odin. Mobile odin would probably be better as you can keep root when u flash it
We have a stock rom post look there first .

I'm assuming that you are refering to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
However, I have similar questions as the original poster.
I have CF-Root rooted stock firmware (Sweden, unbranded) and would like to update to the latest available (OTA failed). I know that I can download from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com, but I have no idea which one to use.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9300&r=1
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9300
What has to match? CSC, Country/Carrier? Please enlighten me.
Well I'm new to the galaxy series so I couldn't be 100% sure about what you need to match to be sure you get right one. But I do know if you've used cf root you can still connect to kies, you could connect and either check firmware upgrade version then download that vers from one of the sites or update your phone with kies then type *#1234# in the dialler then using that info download that vers of the firmware to have in the future.
If you do go kies option you'll most likely need to cf root once upgraded and I can't be 100% sure it'll work as I updated my phone with kies before rooting but I know cf root doesn't change anything major so kies should still be able to upgrade.

I'm trying to avoid using Kies. Don't want to install it even. Still "download from one of the sites" is not too assuring. How do I know what sites to trust?
Also, my question was rather does me download have to match entirely or is it enough with the same region?
E.g. one of the links above has the Italian LF6 as latest version. Can I use that?

well i use sammobile as its the one quoted in the cf root post under the uninstall instructions, I didnt know about samsung-updates till today. Well u could just install kies to see what firmware code its showing as the upgrade then uninstall. Im just checking sammobile at mo for ya
edit:- when u type *#1234# into your keypad whats the 3 codes it spits out?
I checked the sites out and it seems only the full roms are available. Actually I'd prefer just to flash the firmware so that I don't loose all my apps and settings. Or is there a way around this? I realise it's a lame question, but I'm new...
Here is the result of *#1234#
AP: I9300XXALE8
CP: I9300DXLE8
CSC: I9300LBALE5
Thanks for the help

Yeah there orig samsung roms(firmwares), trick is to get the one for your country/region
Ok , if your sure the updated firmware should be a ALF6 version theres only 2 on sammobile
1. Germany unbranded
2. Italy
Wheres about are u from?
Have you tried the kies update method i mentioned earlier?
Kies is samsungs official software for managing your samsung android device it can sync contacts, backup data etc etc but also to update official firmware.
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP
I have it installed but not using it for backups etc just for when firmware updates are available.
Youve used cf root so the kies method should work ok but youll just need to reroot afterwards.
After several attempts, I managed to use Kies... I had to use a different USB port and it worked.
Thanks a lot!

[Q] How to repair my phone to original after rooting?

Hello everyone,
Today I decide to root my phone and I found this thread and follow every steps to root it.
However, I found that after the phone is rooted, the camera malfunctioned, youtube has no display, and bluetooth could not turn on.
I immediately unroot my phone, and flash it using original kernel and still can't repair it.
Then I run a factory reset but it is no use.
Could anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
PDA:I9100DXLPF
PHONE: I9100DXLPB
CSC: I9100LBLPF
Thank you very much.
This is my first post. I hope I don't cause problem to this forum.
Try flashing stock rom
It will take some time and I could not access hotfile at the moment. So I am looking for alternative.
If there are no choices, can anyone help me transfer the file to the other storage like 4shared or mediafire?
This is the thread that I forgot to mention about "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414&highlight=root"
By the way, I have connected my phone to kies and it shows the latest firmware so i can't run any of emergency firmware recovery.
Any idea of solving this? Thanks.
I really need my camera back. Regret is not an option anymore.
Don't try to use Kies when you're rooted.
Which kernel did you try to flash? It's not that rooting should come with these problems you name here, because otherwise nobody would do it.
Indeed try to flash stock firmware (download from www.sammobile.com) with Odin, or maybe considder flashing a custom rom.
Sent from the Matrix
Only via Odin and before flashing make sure you don't have active kies

Emm..just download official firmware from sammobile and flash it using odin.. U may search the step by step using odin online..

Maybe somebody else wants to confirm OP has to flash a stock rom with Odin?
Sent from the Matrix
I flashed with siyah and the problem solved.
Looks like I need to download the stock firmware later on.
If there are updates on android again, can I use kies to update my phone again?
Not with a custom kernel but you said you plan to download stock and flash that after that you can use kies again or download the updated stock ROM from sammobile and flash it when it is release and don't bother with kies .

Upgrade from Gingerbread>Jelly Bean-- HELP [SOLVED]

I have bought a brand new galaxy s 2 (GT-I9100G). It's currently on GB firmware I9100GXXLB1 from XEF france region as this was bought in france. I want to update to Jelly Bean. I have installed the latest version of kies and got everything set up. But,when downloading the firmware update, kies is giving me extremely slow download speeds(3mbps connection here) that's going to take forever to download JB. So, I want to flash it manually using odin 3.07 as other firmware hosting sites gives normal download speeds.I have downloaded odin and want to install the following firmware.
So, can I upgrade directly from GB to JB without any problems? Do I need any special .pit or procedure while upgrading or I can flash normally using it?
Please reply..

No special requirements, that's assuming you know what you're doing with Odin (fair assumption given your post count?)
Actually, this is my first time using odin. I have never used samsung devices before. I have done a lot of reading before posting this thread just to be extra clear.
If no special requirements are needed, will I have any problems upgrading directly? Also, have I chosen the correct firmware for my GT-I9100G?

As the above poster said no problem in direct jumping from gb stock to jb stock, and you don't need to touch the pit files, but sometimes(very rarely) a bootloop can occur, so in such a case just performing a factory reset from the stock recovery would fix that.

Unfortunately I'm not going to comment on whether you've chosen the correct firmware. I don't own a I9100G, so have no experience choosing a firmware for it. As long as it's definitely an I9100G (as opposed to international I9100) firmware you'll be fine
