[Q] How to repair my phone to original after rooting? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
Today I decide to root my phone and I found this thread and follow every steps to root it.
However, I found that after the phone is rooted, the camera malfunctioned, youtube has no display, and bluetooth could not turn on.
I immediately unroot my phone, and flash it using original kernel and still can't repair it.
Then I run a factory reset but it is no use.
Could anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
PDA:I9100DXLPF
PHONE: I9100DXLPB
CSC: I9100LBLPF
Thank you very much.
This is my first post. I hope I don't cause problem to this forum.

Try flashing stock rom

It will take some time and I could not access hotfile at the moment. So I am looking for alternative.
If there are no choices, can anyone help me transfer the file to the other storage like 4shared or mediafire?
This is the thread that I forgot to mention about "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414&highlight=root"

By the way, I have connected my phone to kies and it shows the latest firmware so i can't run any of emergency firmware recovery.
Any idea of solving this? Thanks.
I really need my camera back. Regret is not an option anymore.

Don't try to use Kies when you're rooted.
Which kernel did you try to flash? It's not that rooting should come with these problems you name here, because otherwise nobody would do it.
Indeed try to flash stock firmware (download from www.sammobile.com) with Odin, or maybe considder flashing a custom rom.

Only via Odin and before flashing make sure you don't have active kies

Emm..just download official firmware from sammobile and flash it using odin.. U may search the step by step using odin online..

Maybe somebody else wants to confirm OP has to flash a stock rom with Odin?
Sent from the Matrix

I flashed with siyah and the problem solved.
Looks like I need to download the stock firmware later on.
If there are updates on android again, can I use kies to update my phone again?

Not with a custom kernel but you said you plan to download stock and flash that after that you can use kies again or download the updated stock ROM from sammobile and flash it when it is release and don't bother with kies .

Don't use Kies, use Odin, it's far less temperamental. Just download th XWKE2 firmware from samfirmware.com and flash in the PDA section of Odin

Wow, that's a hell of a long time, leave it to download overnight? Mine took a while but only because it's a big file and it certainly didn't take a day! I'm sorry I don't know anywhere else to get stock firmware from apart from Samfirmware.com and the god awful Kies...
Its not posted on here by any chance using a different upload service .

I have installed an unsecure kernel in my galaxy s2 (GT I9100G) but since I cannot find the original stock kernel, I wanted to roll back to the stock android version that came with s2 and thus wanted to know how could I re-install the firmware from KIES.
Thanks

You need to reflash stock using ODIN before you can use kies, as Kies doesn't recognise custom kernels.

Will reflashing bring back the stock kernel and make the phone unrooted in short make it the way Samsung sold it to me?
Also, I am using Galaxy S2 I9100G build number GINGERBREAD.XWKJ2 and for it only 1 unsecured kernel was available at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327509
I rooted my phone without any problem but since there's no way to get back the stock kernel, I am afraid that if need be, how am I gonna claim warranty for my device.

Yes aslong as you flash the firmware that came with it t will be like as samsung sold it. Have a look at intratech's thread he may just have the kernel if you still have the original firmware on it already.

Yes, I do have the original firmware on it. Didn't have enough guts to play with custom ROM :/
I did check intratech's thread and found stock kernel for XWKJ2 but the thread titles says "Official i9100 Firmwares" whereas my phone shows i9100G. I guess this won't work.
And, when flashing to original firmware, will the kernel's be replaced to the original one's as well?
Thanks for suck quick replies Am just a n00b diving into Android
You can extract the original kernel yourself if you want it http://www.hotfile.com/dl/136857418/c144909/I9100GXWKJ2_I9100GODDKJ2_INU.zip.html

Downloaded it. Now what do I do? Flash s2 with this, backup using titanium, root device and then use the stock to get rid of yellow triangle? Am I missing anything?
Thanks for your help
BTW, is there a way to get the latest available firmware in my country/region via KIES so that I can be 100% sure of being in right place
i cant post the link right now but you can google
"How to goback/use Kies update after using ODIN,Rooting or Custom Firmware : Video Guide"
and go the the dialandroid website they have a way to make it like original again

Back to stock galaxy s2

Hello how i can back to stock my galaxy s2? i rooted and put checkrom works nice but i want to learn how get back to stock again im confused
I didnt wrote down the pda version and kernel before install checkrom and rooted what recommend me to do?
thanks.
Just flash official firmware package from Intratech's XDA firmware thread via Odin.
Use your Product Code (sometimes found on your box) on the Chek Fus Download website to find your original PDA etc (if you're not 100% sure) or search the first couple thread posts for match.
Follow his flash instructions and you're done

you can get your stock firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
It also includes instructions of using odin and flashing the downloaded firmware .... if you are rooted take a nandroid backup every time you flash custom from stock ........ that ways you'll always have a backup of the stock firmware ......
Yep, my post is rather incomplete, forgot to add the link cheers

So I just came across this and got to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 however, I am SO lost. I don't know what firmware I'm supposed to download. Yes I'm a noob, but seriously trying to figure all of this out so help is greatly appreciated. OH and I'm trying to get back to stock in attempts to get CF root to hopefully get cyanogenmod to install rather than abort the installation.

Actually all the firmwares provided in the thread are stock ..........
If you are a Noob i would not recommend cyanogenmod though it is pretty good but i've heard it's for advanced users and stuff ........ why do you need to flash stock is my primary question ........... use this thread only http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
You need to update latest firmware for your region as a KIES update is there / on the way?
Find out the latest firmware for your region to flash via http://fus.nanzen.se/ it will provide you with the stock firmware your phone should have after selecting the specific region.
You need to update latest firmware irrespective of region (like Me)
Just download the latest firmware available in the 2nd or 3rd section of the thread. in this case 2.3.6 (KK2 or KK5).
In case of any more issues post back.
so I tried kk2 and kk5 and kk2 gave me no service, and kk5 failed to even install. I'm at a loss. I really want CF root, but can't install it on the stock eg30 that I've been using as my stock rom. SO what next? Any other way to figure out which stock firmware from that link will work for my phone?
hello???
Is there anyone who can help me figure this out?????

Problem Unrooting and stock FW/Kernal

Hi i rooted my SGS2 last week and now i'd like it put back to stock to sell-on trouble is i have tried unrooting but it said it worked but my device still has root apps on.
I can't download any FW & kernals off here because theres a problem with multiupload as all the links are dead or servers down....
The phone was on uk 3 network android 2.3.3 kernal XWKF4 but now is unlocked
Has anybody any working links??
TIA
Andy
Just download a stock rom and flash with Odin. Don't forget to format the memory afterwards and you're set.
Intratech is working on getting his original firmware downloads sorted out right now but if you can't wait grab firmware from Sammobile or use checkfus to download the firmware you want and flash with Odin.

Si is it this easy to Unroot and Update to ICS?

Hi, I just bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S2, specifically Gt-I9100M.
I am on the old Gingerbread software, and my phone is currently in a Stock and ROOTED Bell ROM I believe(I got Superuser).
I want to upgrade to ICS, and could you please tell me if following this extremely simple guide will work? galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-unroot/how-to-unrootunbrick-your-galaxy-s2-i9100-ics/
screenshot added.
To unroot, you need to flash the original kernel ugkg2. However, to flash it, you need to do it through Odin. Then, why flash the kernel only when you can flash the full ics firmware instead.
My suggestion, flash the full firmware instead. It's going to be quicker.
If you don't know Odin, read read and read again before doing anything. This forum is your friend.

So you are saying just follow the guide I put in the link and I should be fine? NOthing else to do?
Your link make it seem simple but itcould turn into a nightmare if you don't know what to do. Read the forum on how to use odin and what not to do and you should be fine.
Anyone?

Thanks a lot for posting a reply, but based on what the guide said and what you saw my phone has, should I be fine by just using the guide? I read the forum btw about odin.

You can use the guide, but dont use the stock rom attached. Use the one for the i9100M found at sammobile.com. Just search for the i9100M rom.

Thanks for the info!! I found many links in the sammobile webpage. Can you tell me which one to pick from that list? I looked up i9100m and there was a 4.0.3 Firmware from my carrier there(bell). Should I just download that rom, follow the guide from the link and just do what it says, I dont have to do anything else?
I know Im annoying, but Im new here

Download the one for your carrier and follow the guide as said. It will install stock ICS (no root). Just in case though, I suggest you backup your data on your phone to your computer or such.
The one for our phone is UGLD3. Download it. Download also UGKG2 just in case something happen with the installation. When I tried to update my phone I had a Kernel Upload Panic Mode error. I had to reinstall UGKG2 to make my phone work again.

Just saw my friend updating his sgs2, IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!! ICS was not stable enough, some apps wont even work, basically VERY minor things changed, in short ICS was a disaster for the SGS2.
Do you or anyone know a way to backup my Gingerbread SGS2 in a way so that I can use that backup in case of an emergency?

As I said, download UGKG2, which is gingerbread. If anything happen, just reinstall it using ODIN. had a bad install with ICS at first and I just reinstalled UGKG2 and all my apps and setting were still there once I reinstalled UGKG2.

[Q] i9100G soft bricked by installing font.. stuck @ boot logo

hello,
Sorry but not allowed to post in the i9100G sub section yet due to restriction. My friend did the following resulting in soft brick... :silly:
i9100G - indian variant
ics - 4.0.3
rooted with method 2 posted ----------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679778
it does not installs cwm manager like in cf-root method
downloaded app - rom toolbox pro - for backup
installed new font using the same app - rebooted as asked..
stuck on S2 logo
able to go into download and recovery mode - good sign :highfive:
I read somewhere that I need to flash stock rom using odin and then root again properly using cf-root menthod but since i dont know the correct firmware of his phone, dont know which one to use for flashing.. he dosent remembers it either..
dont know its xxlph or what....
so should i just flash new ics 4.0.4 firmware (any firmware) via odin and then follow the nube friendly cf root method ? is not knowing firmware version will have an impact even if i am installing a completely different new version ?
thanks for the time and consideration... much appreciated...
thanks
Any firmware is fine as long as its for the G variant. DO NOT install firmware meant for the i9100/P/M/T etc coz that will brick the device. The only way in which different firmwares for a device vary is by the modem. Which can always be changed at a later stage.
Bottomline, as long as its a G variant firmware, you can use it. Only preferable to stick to 4.0.3 rather than 4.0.4
Download the firmware from sammobile.com
Good luck

hey thanks... just wanted to make sure because its not really my phone and dont want to make a mess.. will flash away and report back with results
