Hi guys
Is there a way to modify the time when the phone is looking for wireless networks and/or connects/disconnects to a known one?
Maybe a file I could edit?
Thanks!

You'd need root, then edit your build.prop file to edit (or add if it isn't there) the line that says "wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=", with a number of seconds after it.
This is found in tons of threads though, a search should have easily turned this answer up.

Guys,
Here's how you view the .exe file
Go File Explorer, make sure you check the "Show All Files", then go to Windows folder, the file name is "WLANSettings.exe
The attributes for this file is "Read-only", "Hidden", "System" & "ROM"
Any of you willing to test if it works, as i do not know how to enable this function on my device
sounds interesting. On a plain winmobile 6 this file doesn't exists, seems that HTC placed it for some reason...
Exctaly today I found (casually) the same settings on my device!!!
I think...these are the settings swith off of WI-FI!
Anybody knows how to turn ON?
If I click on TURN ON...it does not works... maybe it's necessary to change some valors in Windows..
later
on the touch with wifi there is also an WLANSettings.exe040X.mui file......you may need this also.

i found this file "WLANSettings.exe.0409.MUI" as well, but it prompted me to choose the program to open this file
So, any advice on this Wifi enabling settings ?
I found two icon files as well, one is "WiFi_datacall', the other is "WIFI_on" !!
...you are near!
...the setting to change are in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\WiFi...
let us know...!
Tell me what to change and I'll try it
Yes, please keep us updated bro!!
Very good work!
I found these!
Hi everyone, this is what i found in windows folder.
(see screenshot002)(hold your cursor over the pictures to see which screenshot number!)
when i click on WLANSettings, I see the option to turn on. (see screen003)
on "menu", there is "Comm manager"(see screen008) & "wifi"(see screen004)
also in wondows folder, there is a htm page for wifi.(see screen007)
I havent really tried to "fool" around with it yet...may try so very soon..!
Oh yes, & one more thing...there is also an exe.file "wrlsmgr"...which shows a different looking comm manager than the original one.I wonder why?(see screen009)
The WLAN doesn't come ON..I hv also tried puting PNGs to indicate..I think something very small we are missing
Keep up the good job

sorry i already check your proposal and... unfortunately nothing
Here my 2 ct:
I think, the phones with the qualcomm chipset in fact are able to do GPS and wifi; HTC just disables them to save licensing cost, because, if they enable wifi, the cost will rise for the phone.
Sounds like making sense, huh?
Anyway, i ordered mine yesterday and am dying for wifi...
So, i hope the best for all of us....
we
i don't have HTC touch or touch dual, yet.
suggestion:
have someone tried to extract the COMM Manager program from HTC touch and create a .CAB file for it, if need. then take it and install to HTC touch dual device.
once you have it install, do the normal WIFI configuration such as network card and etc... and test the wifi connection.
if it is not working, then most likely the touch dual does not has the wifi hardware addon it.
can someone perform this wifi experiment.
open it and post some hi-res picture. If you do it slowly and gently the warranty will be safe because they will not realize that you have opened
With pictures will be possible without any dubt understand if wifi is in or not
So, has anyone managed to set up the Wifi ?
first, i know i can put the phone in airplane mode, this is purely for experimental purpose!
so which are the files associated with GSM data, 2g and 3g in our phones?
i want to remove the files related to say 3g from the rom, this will lead it to not search the service even if the option is chosen in settings..
so can anyone mention which are the files in the rom that give the user gsm, 2g and 3g accesses?
anything relevant will be appreciated.. also wifi files if possible.
all in all if you can just mention something that will help me figure out the files that are related will be the best way out.
something like a prefix with ** means its a wifi file or something more sensible
thanks

if you did not get the question, i want to modify a rom such that certain properties not used may not be installed altogether.. during installation,
such that complete battery life is used..
so i need to understand which files are relevant to the things i am considering.
now if you can help with that, i will be grateful.
If you did not get it yet, this is not the right section for your thread
Heard something, that are in one of the .jar files.
If I am not mistaken, then /system/framework/framework.jar/smali/com/android/internal/telephony/ something or somewhere around there.
Check it, if it is not, I will go search more.

Can someone assist in removing this annoying WIFI notification? I suppose Verion believes I'm an idiot and don't know how to turn on the WIFI. At any rate, I despise this notification and cannot find a working solution to remove it. I understand there was a thread at one time that provided a MOD to remove it, however, the Dropbox download has been removed. Can anyone tell me, perhaps, which .apk I need to uninstall to remove this without me ruining my OS? For the record, I'm running 2.06. Thank you, ahead of time!

I looked and but I didn't see anything relevant
I am new to the android OS and havent really done much in the field of development lately... I was a BASIC and VBASIC coder back in the day... but I was going through the files on my Verizon Galaxy S4 and in /dev/_properties_ I found something labeled "ro.boot.hardware[]qcomro.boot.debug_level[]0x4f4cro.boot.cp_debug_level []0x55FFro.boot.emmc_checksum[]3ro.boot.bootloader[]i545VRUEMK2ro.boot.nvdata_backup[]ro.boot.boot_recovery... and it goes on and on. Any information would be greatly appreciated
That's code.

Its not like its just a diary from samsung... Hard to read through because your text view seems to be showing line feeds as an undisplayable characters, that box thing, whatever you want to call it.
But yeah that is one of your system files, that is data the OS uses. If you change it it will most likely just break what every thing you change from being specific code/information to random gibberish.
Just looked up the file... Thats not just a plain text file that is interpreted by the OS. I think you would have to get the source code to make changes then compile your own version.
Thanks. Like I stated above, its been a long time since ive coded (BASIC) and coding and development has come a long way since then
Use hex editor or you'll corrupt the file

Don't just open I with 'generic editor' and modify it and expect your device to boot properly. Use a GOOD hex editor from market and modify the values to retain proper structure or you'll regret it. You can be brave and add props not in use BUT they must present in the device for that to work. You can accomplish a lot in that file though or soft brick your device.
Yeah, I wouldn't just edit a piece of code just for the sake of editing code. Might mess your phone up.

Why not just block access at the Router/Modem level? Most of them come with parental controls these days and allow blocking from there per device.
Unless you've tried that.

I have no experience to modify Router settings, will search about it how to use it's parental control feature. I found the idea while searching for it and found this way to silently block youtube and this kind of sites for my daughter's tab. do not want to use any applock like app which i have tried
