Hi there, I have a Samsung Galaxy i9003(SL).
I think there is a problem with touch screen response speed.
Although Galaxy SL has a 1 ghz processor and better gpu than SonyEricsson Xperia Mini, It seems that Xperia Mini is faster when we're talking about touchscreen response(messaging, sliding the menu etc)
After trying another lower resolution(i mean lower than galaxy sl) android phones such as galaxy ace, galaxy gio or android sdk(because you can set any resolution with it) I realized touch screen response is related with resolution.
Lower the resolution faster the touchscreen response gets.
I found this really annoying. You're paying much more to get a faster and big screen phone. But what you get is slower than the cheaper ones.
Do you think is there a way to lower the resolution on samsung galaxy sl to get a faster response? I found a way to change it but instead of changing the resolution(like 800x480 to 640x360) it changes LCD density and that is not what i want because it does not affect any response speed. or maybe another way? Changing kernel, improving gpu etc?
Maybe i'm asking too much because what i'm talking about is like miliseconds delay but i can sense the difference when i'm testing another phones.
Iphone seems to overcome this situation. Why android can't?
Super boosting your touchscreen
Hello Kreston,
I am also using Samsung galaxy SL gt-i9003 and was having the same issues like you. Whenever i switch the phone off and start it again, the touchscreen responses better. But this isn't a solution. So, I searched the internet and found an app which will super boost the response. Even better than your xperia mini. The good news is, the app is exclusively developed for samsung galaxy s series.
name of the app:- SGS Touchscreen Booster
sorry i was unable to give you the link because i am a new member and am not allowed to post links in my messages until and unless i have posted 8 posts.
Do remember to thank me bro !!!

Hey guys,
My girlfriend is looking at getting a new phone. Her two options are either the Galaxy S I9000 or the Xperia X10. I have an X10, and that the Galaxy WAS much better, but what I don't quite know is, which would be the better of these two phones once they are both running on Android 2.3.3 (since, from recent news, the X10 will be getting 16 million colours in the next stock 2.3.3 update)?
Would the preferable choice still be the Galaxy?
Thanks guys.
Still the Galaxy, it has the faster GPU, AMOLED + Screen etc. or the new ones with Super Clear LCD, i think the Galaxy will stay the better Phone, but on the X10 you got the better looking Phone and a way better Camera
Running both devices on 2.3.3 will bring them close together in normal working speed, but the galaxy will outperform the X10 in every graphics related app.

true, the galaxy has a dedicated GPU and more ram. That's about it. i would go for the Galaxy. having more Ram and better GPU power never hurt anyone
if it's for your GF, give her your x10 and get yourself a new phone she'll be very happy with the x10 and probably would never use the galaxy s potencial
Also, the touch screen of the galaxy is way better, have a true MT (not pseudo DT).
In favor of the X10 I can tell it is more reliable then the galaxy (I heard lots are complaining about lags and reboots)
And, it has the useful notifications LED
x10
x10 is is better
Hi,
Anyone out there with experience of Android updates to older phones and how well they handled it.
I ask because I want to know about the Galaxy S2 and how well we expect Android 4.0 (ICS) to be implemented.
Of course, it will come out at some point, but my primary concerns are whether it will add to the battery power needed burden to make things run smoothly as it will retrofit the S2 hardware.
I also want to know how easy it is likely to be to replace the on screen buttons with the S2 hardware buttons, as this will be a waste of screen space on the S2 if it is still to pop up there above the hardware buttons.
Any help and other thoughts on the matter will be much appreciated.

To say anything on how it will be implemented on the S2 would be pure conjecture. No one knows yet.
Its still in the middle of being ported/hacked over to our device, with no official Samsung ICS Roms released/leaked yet.
Regarding the 'on screen button' query, it would seem that ICS would detect capacitative buttons, and thus hide the on-screen buttons.
Hi,
First of all i wouldnt class a Galaxy S2 as an older phone, samsung have made a point of holding back on the Galaxy Nexus hardware so it doesnt outdo there own flagship model.
Yesterday, I compared a Galaxy Nexus to my Galaxy S2 running the ICS alpha and was slightly disappointed that the Galaxy Nexus screen didnt look any different to my GS2 both in screen real estate and screen clarity.
I doubt very much ICS will reduce battery life as the hardware acceleration should help matters as there will be less reliance on the phone CPU to draw things the GPU can draw easily.
The onscreen buttons can be easily disabled and dont offer anything that the GS2 hardware buttons dont. If anything the GS2 has the advantage of a menu button which you dont get on the Nexus and until the majority of apps put a software menu button on their apps it's going to cause issues, i thought that the software buttons would be more intellegent and add a menu button for legacy apps but they just seem to stay the same buttons all the time. I know paul o'brian has done a custom mod for this so hopefully google with do the same.
I personnally am happy with my GS2 hardware, the issue for me is software and whether i can wait for 4.0 either official or unofficial.

There actually IS a "virtual menu button" for those apps who use the menu.
But it's rather small and easy to miss.
It's on the far right, looks like three dots above each other, I could use all "old" apps I tried so far with it and effectively not using the "real" buttons at all.
I hope if ROM cooks tend to remove the on-screen buttons, they keep an option to re-enable them, 'cause I really like them
(and they are NOT showing up in the SDK emulator, so it does seem to have some kind of detection.)
ICS does not show the Virtual Buttons on devices with HW Keys.
Thats an absolute, 100% given, please stop discussing about it.
The Galaxy S II has a better GPU and a CPU I'd call Equal with the one of the Galaxy Nexus, also the screen has a way lower resolution, so it might even run smoother than on the Galaxy Nexus,
But what about future apps.....if they are built to a standard 720p resolution, then will the Samsung galaxy S2 suffer then compared to the Nexus which has similar spec - ie do you think we will get new apps that will run better on a 720p screen which looks likely to be more standard in all future high spec phones ?
In my opinion, Galaxy S2 will perform much better on ICS than Gingerbread, considering ICS will actually utilize DUAL-CORE efficiently, rather than just burning battery on two-cores just to work one-core...
It's like XP before & after SP2

You are trying to find a future-proof a device. Well - it ain't gonna work. Technology moves at a quick pace. At most - I can say GSII may work super well with all apps (and games) until a point when it has become the standard for all screen resolutions to be 720p or 1080p or 9040p. This may be in 2 or 3 years.
Besides, an app developer would make their app compatible with all devices UNLESS they intended it to run purely on a certain resolution.
Nexus phone isn't better than the GSII by the way. It just has ICS on it. =/
Thanks for all of you inputs guys.
Sounds like the GS2 will work as well with ICS if not better.
It also comes across that although the screen size if the GS2 is smaller than the GNex, it is more or less cancelled out seeing as the GNex has to use some screen for the virtual buttons at the bottom, wheras the GS2 will not have to use any screen on this.......therefore negating the screen real-estate difference.......right ?
Then it only comes down to resolution between the two.
For a much lower resolution, the GS2 still looks amazing to the eye, which makes me wonder what the real worls advantages will be of the higher resolution screen on the GNex.
Could it be the web page layout or looks when they load up ?
Could it be noticed when playing media ?
I am not sure anymore.
Ideally the resolution advantage comes into play during
1. Browsing, especially while reading small text as very small letters can be drawn accurately.
2. Pictures will be more clearer, especially some wallpapers do ask for more resolution.
3. Video playback
Altogether everything will appear more smooth and clear. So a welcome thing this resolution is. But nexus has pentile display and there are chances this might offset the resolution advantage mainly during text diaplays
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I agree with the last comment to an extent. But we are talking about a phone screen with hundreds of pixels already.
To the normal user in the real world, do you still think that applies ? Ie the text might be a little clearer, but is it not darn clear already on the lower GS2 resolution ?
And wallpapers - even if it was origianlly a 720p picture and the GS2 resizes it, would the average guy out there be able to distingush ?

Here http://t.co/RzNWJWcQ , Have a look how stock ICS looks and works on GSII. And all this is done without any driver source code. Imagine how quick it would be when samsung does ICS with proper drivers.
At least Samsung confirmed they will release ICS to S2. When? That's a different story... Probably late next year.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

guys,
What a sad day!
Would like to have some advice that should i get another S2 instead of G.nexus ? Does anyone have the two phone which can give some comment?
Probably will get a phone on January 2012 but really need comment from you guys.
thanks!
Didn't you have samsung dive setup on your last phone?
If I were you I'd get a galaxy nexus. Just because it would be something new to play with.
my last custom rom was CM nightly 117 from codeworkx and it doesn't have samsung dive on it.
but our s2 spec and performance quite comparable to g.nexus...
Nexus quite tempting !

As far as I can tell:
- Nexus gives you a 720p screen, but it's Pentile.
- You lose a microSD slot
- Camera is lower resolution at 5MP, but faster. Video recording stays the same, may not have the stuttering problem some S2 sensors suffer from.
- It's a Google phone!
- Lousier GPU.
Hi I´d like to buy a sony x10, but i have other choices so i need your advices and tell me what you think about these phones
1)Sony x10 (because i use an x8 and i don´t like it anymore)
2)motorola defy (a frien has one and it´s work fine to me)
3)samsung galaxy (i never se this phone)
4)htc desire
Thanks in advance, see ya
it depends on what you want to do with your droid? defy is some tough badas smartphone that has no match around bot the cpu speed is not so well (800 mhz.
HTC devices always have nice UI HTC sense is smooth and mostly the dual touch is great.
Well Samsung Galaxy and X10i are both on 1ghz processor identikal ram both on droid 2.3.3 so theres somthein about the looks you decide ther budy
Click tha Thanks button if i helped.
Gretz Darkmind
i love the x10 very much but if we were able to buy the samsung galaxy s at the time i was buying i would probably get that, cause no matter they have similar specs i can tell you that the galaxy s has a fantastic screen and is faster than our x10, also the galaxy s has more ram(512 mb) as the x10(384 mb) and has a better gpu(power vr sgx 540) as the x10(adreno 200)
[email protected], in the beginning of 2010 choice between x10 and samsung galaxy s was not, also we have acted properly.
Hi guys,
First of all, I would like to thank everyone of you beacues without you I would be still using the old Nokia 6600
I have my Xperia SOLA and I like it actually but I've an annoying issue with it...
I installed the FXGuru on it and tried to use... works very well and capturing very well too, but it goes very slow in a minute, when I go to process the captured video and it shows me "processing 0%" the app crashs and I'm getting my Homescreen again... it can not process any video...
I think because of the lag in it .... don't know why it is too slow with this app and with the playstore too ....
I tried hard reset too many times and another version of the app too ... I tried to reinstall the app many times but the same result every time...
I'm using the unofficial ICS Stock ROM from this thread ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029529
don't know if there is an update or something.... please help ....
Due to the fact that the App also doesn't work on my Sola (CM9 - The FXGuru animation is shown then it just closes), I think that XSola's Hardware is just too bad for the 'high end' app
many thanks for your answer, but ... FXGuru works faster and very well on my SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab P1000 although it is 3 years old ...
if it is true, so I'll plan to destroy the nearst SONY-Center....
The Samsung Galaxy Tab has a more RAM friendly GPU and when it's still on Android 2.X I don't wonder about anything. Gingerbread is just the fastest Android for nowerdays low-end and mid-end devices Just show now how much free RAM you have on your Galaxy Tab and compare it with the Free RAM of your Sola
many thanks for the bad news !!! .... so we should spend our lifes or something like it (at least 500 USD) to get an acceptable device !! I hate this plant...
Hey guys ,,, after many tests I've found that the HW of the Xperia SOLA is much better than the Galaxy Tab .... u can check that by trying a game called "Hills of Glory" which was laggy on the tab but very smooth on the Sola .... the free RAM was similar on both of them too... about 100 MB...
but the xperia Sola can not start processing with the FXGuru till now .... any help?
