Hey guys,
My girlfriend is looking at getting a new phone. Her two options are either the Galaxy S I9000 or the Xperia X10. I have an X10, and that the Galaxy WAS much better, but what I don't quite know is, which would be the better of these two phones once they are both running on Android 2.3.3 (since, from recent news, the X10 will be getting 16 million colours in the next stock 2.3.3 update)?
Would the preferable choice still be the Galaxy?
Thanks guys.
Still the Galaxy, it has the faster GPU, AMOLED + Screen etc. or the new ones with Super Clear LCD, i think the Galaxy will stay the better Phone, but on the X10 you got the better looking Phone and a way better Camera
Running both devices on 2.3.3 will bring them close together in normal working speed, but the galaxy will outperform the X10 in every graphics related app.

true, the galaxy has a dedicated GPU and more ram. That's about it. i would go for the Galaxy. having more Ram and better GPU power never hurt anyone
if it's for your GF, give her your x10 and get yourself a new phone she'll be very happy with the x10 and probably would never use the galaxy s potencial
Also, the touch screen of the galaxy is way better, have a true MT (not pseudo DT).
In favor of the X10 I can tell it is more reliable then the galaxy (I heard lots are complaining about lags and reboots)
And, it has the useful notifications LED
x10
x10 is is better

Hi everyone.
I'm just thinking about buying a Xperia X10 mini pro for my wife. I went to the store to check but the screen looks really small. I was reading some reviews on the web but ther're not conclusive and always done with a fresh device.
Can someone post a brief review on the following topics?
1. How's speed after a certain usage?
2. Is the screen a limiting factor for some, many or really most android apps?
3. Will froyo be avaliable on this one in future?
4. Top 5 pros and cons?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well i have the x10 mini for more than a month now and the speed is still very quick, very few lags. For the screen size and apps, i think there are a lot of available apps for the x10 mini's screen size, my only nag is that i can't access paid apps yet, not really the x10 mini's problem but the android market here in my country. With froyo I hope its coming but i dont think it'll be anytime soon since the eclair update will be coming only at the end of october
Top 5 pros
1. very pocket friendly
2. fast
3. nice ui
4. nice camera
5. not too expensive
Top 5 cons
1. only android 1.6 but i can't say that i'd benefit so much with the 2.1 update coz i can do everything i need to do with my x10 mini right now
2. battery life not great, mine can last up to two days sometimes though
3. its not amoled, its asking too much, but hey it would look great if it were amoled might make it slower though
ran out of cons ... well.. hope i helped even a bit
I can honestly say there are no cons except the battery life is not the best.
If you want a bigger screen dont buy a mini of course! lol
Big thanks my friends! It's for my wife. I think she will be ok with a smaller screen if the form factor is better than the "big male phones" as she says hehe.
The eclair is officialy coming end of October than?

thats what SE said, hopefully there'll be no further delays
Yep. I'm using it right now.
However, startup is very affected by application. There are alot of nasty app there which start as system starts, this lengthen my boot time. After that, it's just quick.
I think, it is the only Android device with best physical design. I know it has limitation with android version and screen size, but, it's worth the style, plus I'm not so enthusiast. So, it's so stylist.
For your information, I already rooted this device. So, should still be okay if you want to play with this device.
Very recommended.

This is SE we are talking about. They are worse than British Rail at delays: http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/10/01...e-november-plus-more-details-on-improvements/
PS: Sorry to give you a con, rather than a pro
Both of us have the pro version of this fone there a several pro and not many cons
Yes it has a small screen but it is a small device
We got the pro cause the keyboard makes it so much easier to type
About the only major con I can think of is the boot hasnt been cracked so we're stuck waiting for SE to realse an OS update. There are a few apps that wont work becuase they require 2.1 and wont run on 1.6
Ok i got some money, i long time ago thinking change my x10 to ...
Now my x10i running on 2.3 v3 thx to Wolfbreak Im really appreciate this. Thx
Now im thinking between buying an ARC - mainly cause of the HDMI, and Sony- and SGSII -hardware capability- I read some article, post about challenging the 2 phone. And now stuck so many pros and cons on both side.
So which 1 you choose: stay with x10i, SGSII, ARC (optionaly Xplay? )
I'd stick to x10i for now because with wolf's 2.3.3 it really is pretty fast and stable, thus making it a good phone that can compete with most newer phones running on stock roms.
I don't know how things are in hungary, but here you usually get the best deals around christmas time and new stuff will be released continuously until then, I'd say lay low, read the news about upcoming handsets and make your decision then.
It all depends on what are your expectations from a smartphone and what u use it for mainly.
The X10 with 2.3 is a good phone imo and i'm pretty astisfied with it.
The Arc is an improved X10 - better screen / camera / performance ; but it's rly not that different.
The SGS II is in a total different cathegory with it's dual-core processor , but unless u are rly into opening apps in 1ms and stuff like that u won't notice such a big difference between ARC and SGS II.
The Play i would recommend only if u are a heavy gamer
U can just keep the X10 for now and w8 for the next generation of smartphones (maby quad-core or who nows )
It all comes down to what u use the phone for and what are your expectations D:
man!
there's no comparison between X10i, arc and SGS2 !
X10i is now outdated but still good for basic functionality,
if you can afford don't look at Arc, go for SGS2, its a Rocket, and you won't disappoint with its quality and features!
SGS2 is good but bad screen quality cause the type if screen it does. I will recommend you buy the Arc:
- 16 million colors but I don't think you eyes can process all colors at once.
- The camera sensor and front camera.
- The launcher is very beautiful and I don't want to look at the SGS2 cause the such ugly launcher.
- Bootloader unlocked and If you want TouchQuiz, you will have (I don't know exactly how boot loader works but as I know from HTC announcement that you can install other ROM from other device on your Arc. (Maybe SamSung does)
- etc.
But I don't think it's good ideo to compare X10 to these 2 phones and I think you know why. Brilliant.

If you have to, buy a sammy 2, if not, dont buy any and wait
jus wait wid x10 after wolf's 2.3 even i stopped my plan to buy a new one ..will wait until sony launches it dual core ...love the arc launcher though !!!
anyways else go for HTC Evo 4g or Sensation 4G
Don't rush to buy now. Everybody insists on the difference of the phones HOWEVER, that's better is about to come.
There are rumors by Eldar, the russian blogger, that Samsung wants to put out even a better phone - ahead of Iphone 5 (and that's why the law suit etc).
So instead of paying now and then in 2-3 months already a new one is on the market, please stick with X10 and then you upgrade afterwards.
The trouble with SG2 is the 3 second lag and the interface freezes from time to time, and depending on your (bad) luck, you might get one which has problems with the screen. Arc is still Sony, has house cracking issues, check online ...
Wolf just release a mod without FPS cap and no audio lag for X10.
So just hang in there
sgs2 is by far the best out of your choices...
anyone who says otherwise is an se fanboy.
Sgs2 and Arc are awesome but you should stick.with the x10(its not THAT far behind) cause by the end of the year i bet there will be new improved models and you have time to save more money

Hi I´d like to buy a sony x10, but i have other choices so i need your advices and tell me what you think about these phones
1)Sony x10 (because i use an x8 and i don´t like it anymore)
2)motorola defy (a frien has one and it´s work fine to me)
3)samsung galaxy (i never se this phone)
4)htc desire
Thanks in advance, see ya
it depends on what you want to do with your droid? defy is some tough badas smartphone that has no match around bot the cpu speed is not so well (800 mhz.
HTC devices always have nice UI HTC sense is smooth and mostly the dual touch is great.
Well Samsung Galaxy and X10i are both on 1ghz processor identikal ram both on droid 2.3.3 so theres somthein about the looks you decide ther budy
Click tha Thanks button if i helped.

i love the x10 very much but if we were able to buy the samsung galaxy s at the time i was buying i would probably get that, cause no matter they have similar specs i can tell you that the galaxy s has a fantastic screen and is faster than our x10, also the galaxy s has more ram(512 mb) as the x10(384 mb) and has a better gpu(power vr sgx 540) as the x10(adreno 200)
[email protected], in the beginning of 2010 choice between x10 and samsung galaxy s was not, also we have acted properly.
Hi there, I have a Samsung Galaxy i9003(SL).
I think there is a problem with touch screen response speed.
Although Galaxy SL has a 1 ghz processor and better gpu than SonyEricsson Xperia Mini, It seems that Xperia Mini is faster when we're talking about touchscreen response(messaging, sliding the menu etc)
After trying another lower resolution(i mean lower than galaxy sl) android phones such as galaxy ace, galaxy gio or android sdk(because you can set any resolution with it) I realized touch screen response is related with resolution.
Lower the resolution faster the touchscreen response gets.
I found this really annoying. You're paying much more to get a faster and big screen phone. But what you get is slower than the cheaper ones.
Do you think is there a way to lower the resolution on samsung galaxy sl to get a faster response? I found a way to change it but instead of changing the resolution(like 800x480 to 640x360) it changes LCD density and that is not what i want because it does not affect any response speed. or maybe another way? Changing kernel, improving gpu etc?
Maybe i'm asking too much because what i'm talking about is like miliseconds delay but i can sense the difference when i'm testing another phones.
Iphone seems to overcome this situation. Why android can't?
Super boosting your touchscreen
Hello Kreston,
I am also using Samsung galaxy SL gt-i9003 and was having the same issues like you. Whenever i switch the phone off and start it again, the touchscreen responses better. But this isn't a solution. So, I searched the internet and found an app which will super boost the response. Even better than your xperia mini. The good news is, the app is exclusively developed for samsung galaxy s series.
name of the app:- SGS Touchscreen Booster
sorry i was unable to give you the link because i am a new member and am not allowed to post links in my messages until and unless i have posted 8 posts.

first off
this is not the questions section but i will be kind and anwser it before a mod removes it
hardware is good rocking a 1.5 dual core wich is faster then stock sgs2 (wich i also own)
sony's UI is not bad still has some left overs from official ics look but overall it has a good appeal
no phone does not lag even when i have serious multitasking going on never had issues not even on ICS
root does not mean the phone is faster
hope this anwsers your questions
feel free to pm me
COME AT ME MODS
I dunno. I like the XS way more than the SGS2, mostly for design and camera reasons. Sony's UI is not horrible like TouchWiz, though I still prefer AOSP since it looks lighter. There's a bit of a problem with custom ROMs now, but we're quite close to getting a temporary hack while Bin4ry works out a better solution.
