Is anyone running an OC kernel with VirusROM? I was thinking about flashing the bamf 1.2 ghz OC kernel. Am I going to run into any issues? Thanks for your help! The TB was enough to convert me away from Blackberry. Still trying to get up to speed!
Been running that kernel all day with VirusRom, no issues.
Was running that one for a while went back to the Drod 1.8 tho. But yeah, it ran smooth for me, no freezes or lag.
Tbolt - VirusRom_rc1b1-drod1.8ghz
I'm a a newer android user but quickly picking up on custom ROM's, etc. I'm currently running Alien #4 with the Alien theme and the kernel that comes with alien. I'm always trying to test out new combinations of things to see if I can get the most performance out of my phone while still maintaining a great battery life. So it's a constant trade-off. So my question is
Is there a difference between Faux's stock kernel for the atrix and the one that comes with alien or are the both stock in the sense of the same one as if I were running the Gingerbread release from AT&T?
If I were to install the Faux or kohlk OC kernls, but not install SetCPU would they still run at the higher clock speeds or would they run at 1GHZ until I used SetCPU to overclock? If they only run at 1Ghz, would there be benefit to using those kernels instead? I'm assuming they have more optimizations than just the overclocking. I'm quite happy with 1Ghz as my phone is plenty snappy so I'd rather keep the good battery life of 1Ghz but maybe get some better optimizations if possible.
I understand I can run SetCPU to have it clock down the CPU, but I've tried that on a number of occasions and even with it supposedly capped at 1Ghz, I still saw SetCPU saying my phone was in the 1.1Ghz state a fair bit.
I have faux's 1.3 ghz kernel and my battery life is comparable to the stock 1 ghz kernel.
Faux's stock kernel is a more optimized version of the stock kernel and is pretty good but his best work is put into his OC kernels. I suggest going with one of those...and yes you would need setCPU to get it to run above 1 ghz.
Have you ever run a "quadrant standard" test on your phone? I ran one when I was stock and scored below 1750. When I was on Alien v4 with faux's 1.3 ghz OC, I hit 2500. Now that I'm on CM7 with the same OC (and a little undervolting) I'm scoring above 4700.
Yea I use quandrant quite frequently but for me quandrant scores are good but I use my judgement on which feels the best. I know its now scientific but it works for me.

so i have always run overclock kernels w/out any problems. bali at 1.2, bullet at 1.42, bullet at 1.48, and i cant remember the name, but another kernel at 1.5. all without any problems.
I want to try to clock higher. I have tried the app Tegrak, while using bullet 1.48, but it wont let me clock past 1.48.
Is the only solution to try to build a kernel myself, are there any Vibrant kernels that clock faster then 1.5, or is there an app that will let me set my clock speed above the preset?
thanks
Glitch kernel for MIUI and CM7 allows clocking up to 1.7ghz. It's rarely stable, but if your CPU is capable, use the ML or LL versions and see how far you can go.
You'll have to be using MIUI or CM7, obviously.

the thing is that im on always on 2.2 or 2.2.1
Yeah was gonna suggest glitch+cm7or miui but if you are on 2.2...
I think cmenard might have made a 1.54ghz bullet(only worked on some vibrants, needed good cpu)
can't remember if it was GB bullet or 2.2 though. google it yourself....
If you're not willing to move to MIUI or CM7, there's not much you can do. Regardless, 1.5ghz and above is rarely stable anyways. Only thing that has gotten me past 1.3ghz stable is the Glitch kernel with the medium leak CPU tweaks.
It is possible to build 1.7ghz frequencies to a froyo kernel(the kernel dev just have to know where to add it), but chances are few phones would be able to handle it, and battery life would seriously decrease at those frequencies. My opinion is 1.7ghz on a vibrant isn't worth it.
What's the best kernel for GB?
Most stable and overclockable.

My favorite kernel is incredikernel, I havent had any problems with it and I like it because of the fast charge and the gpu overclock, you should try it
dsb overclocks to 1.8 Ghz
I don't know anything about Incredikernel
Stock kernel shows no issues due to its stock clocks/volts. I don't think rezounds are meant to pass 1700 clock as nobody can really maintain a 1836 OC without have a reboot/bootloops. There may be those that claim to be able to handle the speeds, but will surely bootloop when running Stability Test app.
I can run an OC but will eventually bootloops, around an hour of nonstop stability testing. I would recommend incredikernel beta5+ as OC is removed which eliminates these reboots/bootloops. This is the only kernel (incredikernel) I can run Stability Test for hours while undervolted without have a single reboot. Hope this helps!
I would like to thank all the testers who were brave enough to flash my kernel. Please be advised that I do not own any Transformer device (well I used to own a TF101 before it's ICS days till my boys ended its life early) and so I relied heavily on the testers. Please click on the DONATE TO ME button if you appreciate my work.
BIG THANKS to my wife for allowing me to do this work Big thanks to all the testers too. Thanks to the donation of Blackwidowman (first donation), shaolin95, Stuart P, Jack S it's greatly appreciated
A Backup is a must and you should be knowledgable on Restoring your device, NVflash knowledge is recommended.

I would love to test this if for JB. PM me o know! I have been trying all the JB builds trying to get the most stable in the KB dock and have all features enabled. Even the best seems to randomly reboot every now and then. Its still fun to mess with all the options and builds!

Hello corey113888! Have you tried the new Baked JB that Craig put out yesterday? I installed and set lock delay in settings to 15 seconds after screen blank and so far I have not had a reboot in the dock!

Cool. I am installing that one now. I guess TWRP does not support mounting micro SD card formatted NTFS. I cant seem to get recovery to see it. Otherwise I would be rocking it already. I use a wireless mouse to. It has a USB receiver and I did not know if it might be causing the reboots.

We got it to boot in Androwook and ClearROM This kernel is not based on _motley but on asus 10.4.4.18 which is JB. I also built one for CM10.

I also have a wireless mouse with the usb receiver. That plus an sd card in my dock. I've tried taking everything out of dock and still would get sod's and reboots. In my case it always happens when the screen times out. In the baked settings you can delay the lock for a settable amount of time and since I delayed the lock, I've not had a problem!
cool, where do I download the kernel?

I didn't download any special kernel. Just using what was in the rom. I did flash the tweaks and disabled journaling.
The Prime really takes off with this, I have both a Infinity and a Prime and the Prime handles graphics MUCH better due to the higher
screen resolution of the Infinity. Thanks for this, almost like a new device.
I will figure out how to pull dmesg to post. But I don't think I ever tried to overclock that high. Regardless, I'll donate when you post a working kernel. I'm very excited for a new kernel for this device. I think we could really use it. Thank you.
Update:
1. Some testers able to boot with my 1.8ghz 650gpu on stock ROM and kernel modified for stock ROM, some can't boot. Some are unstable at 1.8ghz
2. Same as above CM10 rom with CM10 kernel but wifi is not working at all
Beta kernel released
Will be trying this on Androwook 1.3. My Prime already flies with the Cleankernel but 1.8gh is irresistible. Will post back with how it goes.
EDIT: Flashed fine. Unstable running benchmarks at max OC and is now bootlooping.

I tested kernel and it booted fine but resets when running bench marks. Also i tried down clocking it to 1.4 or 1.5 but even though i have it set to top out at those speeds it was still running up to 1.8 and running at top speed(1.8) the tablet began running real warm so i restored my backup to flash my previous kernel so i dont dmg my device before you get this all worked out for us.
Running this on hairy bean 1.3 in the KB dock and all is well so far.
Can we get SIO scheduler? or an i compile one and add it

Same here. Runs smooth until some heavy CPU stuff is going on, then reset. I guess, my Prime isn't up for 1,8GHz, but I really like the overall performance of that kernel. Any chance to restrict the maximum frequency to 1,7 or 1,6GHz?
Regards,
Kashban
I used the clymsyn-blades kernel for the longest time on my TF101 before I traded it in for my prime. Definitely going to be using this one.
Question though, do the battery saver/medium performance/high performance buttons work with this kernel?
I tried to give this a whirl, but as I suspected, it overwrote my data2sd installation (so I restored my nandroid)...
Anyone knowledgeable able to merge the two together?
I just installed with with Androwook 1.3 JB and Quadrant is reporting max speed as 1300Mhz only and I cannot get it to go even past 1.2Ghz no matter what mode I try.
Anyone else having this problem?
Are the engery options still working with your kernel? I dont want to run it @1800 all the time...
Boots at 1800 but system tuner or something puts it to 1400. then I had random reboots and went back to clean kernel.
What file controls the GPU speed?
