well, i hope someone here will be able to assist me... having troubles.
I was previously running SHIFT A0SP without any issues and figured I would give Gingeritis 3D a shot since I've been using the same rom for a while.
Well, I downloaded the ROM zip, confirmed the MD5 and then flashed (after wiping everything). After reboot, it just sits loading on the white HTC screen and then reboots itself after a while.
Any thoughts? I tried holding down the volume rocker and the power key to get to the HBOOT screen so I could install a backup etc. However, there must be a recent radio on my SD card which is auto asking to install. Any way to get the HBOOT screen so I can actually use it w/ the PG05IMG.zip on the SD card?
I don't have any external drive to read the SD card etc. to delete that zip.
Thanks

Do you have an old phone you can put the sd card into and delete it via your computer?

i don't :/
I also tried removing the SD card and booting to the HBOOT menu. This allows the menu to come up and use it. However, I cannot pull the battery (even with the phone plugged in) to put the SD card back in... I saw this done on a youtube video, but it doesn't work... My phone powers off if I pull the battery.
Still stuck...

Best thing I can recommend is to borrow a phone with an sd card and use it to access your card. You won't even need a computer. If its android, just download any file manager from the app store. Find the PG05IMG file and rename it or delete it.
Presto. You're fixed. Now just download another Rom or reload another Rom on your sd card.

I'm back. I was able to trick with the SD card and battery to get into the HBOOT menu without it auto loading the radio.
To share, since it could help others in the future... What I basically did, and took a lot of trial and error, was seating the SD card about 85% into the slot, so not enough for it to be recognized. Then, hold the battery on a slightly angle, enough for the contacts to touch, but not enough to push the SD card all the way into the slot. That's the tricky part. Once you get to the HBOOT menu, very carefully navigate to restore, after the reboot, push the battery all the way in and it will also push the SD card fully into the slot.
Now, you can recover backup.
Took a lot of tries as I kept losing the battery connection and it powered off or the SD card made contact and loaded the radio. It worked though as I did not have access to another phone.
Hope this may help someone else in the future.

I had this problem too, and i freaked out! Dont worry, its all good! What happened is that you flashed it incorrectly. I dont know what i did wrong, i dont know what you did wrong, it doesnt matter. Anyway, you wiped your phone and now its trying to reboot but there isnt an Operating system on the phone, so it wont get passed the splash screen. Simply boot back into recovery and flash the gingeritis rom again. Reboot, and you should be all set! Good luck!

Hey, this is my first post on this forum. Just rooted my 2.2 Incredible tonight using Unrevoked3 on my Macbook. Everything was fine. I had RomManager and wanted to get Cyanogen, but I wanted to back up my apps first just in case. So I ran Titanium Backup. I wasn't sure how to do it, so I went to Menu>More>Create "update.zip". The phone started doing something, then it said it failed to create update and then the phone went dead. Tried powering back on, got to HTC Incredible screen, then screen went black and phone did 5 quick vibrations back to back and the green "new message" indicator light started blinking like I had a new email or something.
Tried powering back on, but nothing happened. Pulled battery, put it back, still nothing. Had to pull battery, plug phone into computer, put battery back in and then it powered on. Tried a Reboot, but that didn't do anything. Tried re-running unrevoked3, but it won't do anything because now my phone can't find any SD card or internal memory. Both are just grayed out. So even though my phone has 8gig internal and an 8gig external SD card in it, it's not showing either. I can't load a new ROM because it needs the SD card. I put the SD card into my computer and it shows all of my stuff on there, so the card isn't corrupted. Thoughts?? Help! TIA.
Bump
Bump for my issue. I need help!
Any luck with your issue because im in the exact same boat?
what is ur Hboot Version
Hi,
We need to know ur Hboot version, & android version pls
So I am a noob and I may not know enough to be rooted, but I love the custom ROM's they work so much better than stock. Anyway, I started using the new Theory of Ginger Candy ROM and all was going well, until I downloaded the power options download that lets you restart into recovery from the power options. I downloaded it and then rebooted into recovery using ROM manager then I installed the .zip file for the advanced power options. Then, I rebooted and it freezes up at the lightning bolt. I let it sit on there for 20 min thinking maybe it was just going to take a long time then I did a battery pull and rebooted and got stuck again at the lightning bolt. Next I tried to pull the battery and then reboot into recovery by holding the volume down key and power key at the same time. This reboots into bootloader and automatically runs bootloader and then it asks if I want to update. How can I stop it from running bootloader automatically and then be able to scroll down into recovery? Or do I just flash the Radio again and will that take me back to a stock ROM that is with the radio, and then I can restore my backup I made before installing this advance power option .zip. Thanks for your help guys!
Sounds like you still have a PG05IMG.zip on your sdcard. Can you pop the card out and remove it manually on your computer? Dunno if ADB's active during recovery, but you might also be able to get a shell via USB and delete the file that way and reboot.
Otherwise, you might be able to flash the file that currently exists, but I don't know what that's going to do; depends on which version is on your sdcard.

Go to Frys or Radio Shack or best buy and buy yourself an SD card reader. Dont buy the most expensive one, just buy the cheapest one you can find. Take it home, slap the SD card in there and put it in the first USB slot you find. Open up the SD card on your computer and delete the PG05IMG.zip file. Youll see it at the bottom of the list if you organize by type.
Sorry buddy, I know I am the one that directed you to that post about the advanced power menu. It worked for me, I am really sorry this messed things up for you. In the past I have had a similar problem and as mentioned, getting that image file off the root of your sdcard is key. I too would recommend a microsd reader for your computer and making sure you rename or delete the image file. This will allow you to get back into CWM.
Props to you too for being a noob and still knowing enough to make a backup!
Thanks for you help everyone. I did make a back-up but I couldn't log into CWM recovery with the PGOIMG file on my SD card, and I didn't have a microsd card reader or anyway to plug the sd card into my computer to get the file off, so I found a tricky little way to do it. I pulled the SD card just barley out and held the battery in at an angle so that it didn't push the sd card back in. Then with the sd card out I was able to get into recovery. Then came the tricky part of getting the sd card back in without loosing a conection with the battery. I ended up using a bent paper clip to push the sd card into place. After a few attempts I was able to get the sd card in place and the battery back in place while staying in cwm. The next problem was that it sitll wouldn't recognize my sd card. I went into mounts and tried to unmount and remount the sd card with no luck, but then I noticed in the advanced options there is the option to reboot recovery. This allowed me to reboot back into recovery and then it saw my sd card. So after all that I was able to restore my back-up version of B1.7. I now promptly remove the PGOIMG file after flashing a radio.
I posted this question in the general forum but now I am posting it here because I think this is probably the more appropriate forum. So I am a noob and I may not know enough to be rooted, but I love the custom ROM's they work so much better than stock. Uh... Yep! I think that we've found the problem! Ha!
If you don't have a SD card reader there is a trick over in the General forum for how to get around that!
Thanks for you help everyone. I now know to delete the PGOIMG file from my sd card promptly after flashing a radio. I couldn't find the way around not having an sd card reader but I did find a way around it. I did make a back-up but I couldn't log into CWM recovery with the PGOIMG file on my SD card, and I didn't have a microsd card reader or anyway to plug the sd card into my computer to get the file off, so I found a tricky little way to do it. I cannot do anything to get my phone out of this bootloop that it is in. I am running senseless rom from scottsrom. I did a fix permissions in rom manager and now i cannot get it out of this loop. I pulled everything out and restarted it, no sd card, no sim card, back is off. Its still bootlooping. pleaseeee help.. any suggestions?
with the sd card out i can get past the bootloader screen and into amon ra recovery, but no sd card means its pointless. Still bootloops though. If i have it in its asking me to update, but i dont remember leaving anything on the root of the sd card. I dont know whats going on here.
If the only thing you need to do is remove a file from the SD card, then you can use an adapter and delete it using your computer, or just borrow a buddy's phone and insert the card and delete it there. Worst case, you buy yourself a new blank SD card and copy the folder (with full path) for your nandroid backups over to the new card and try restoring a backup.
If those recommendations at not helpful, you can do a lot from ADB. I recommend following some of the available processes in the development section to reinstall the appropriate kernel (boot.img).

aye, thanks man. atm im at work and dont have access to another sd card or anyones phone that can get to the root of the sd card.
I rooted, unlocked, loaded a custom ROM. I ported over my #, and it went HAYWIRE. Now I cannot use my phone. I am able to get to the teamwin screen, but I have no roms or backups to load. What do I do?!
I do have a SD card.
When you're at teamwin you should be able to mount your internal sd card and then hook it up to your computer via usb and drop a rom on the internal card.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do.
Unfortunately I just realized I gave my dad my SD card. He will be back in an hour.
Anything I can do now? I see a "mount" option but it's asking me to "reformat"....
Internal sd should be your built in memory. I haven't installed a recovery on my LTE yet but I've never had this problem on other phones.

So my dad rushed over and it's installing...I put over freEvo and it said failed, even after wiping cache/etc. Now what do I do....
Also while I'm here, does anyone know how to install things to SD card instead of internal memory?
When looking at the internal memory, the external sd is mapped to the 'ext-sd' folder.
My suggestion, read some more, then read again, then read instructions a third time until you fully understand what you're doing. Look at some youtube videos of the process too. If at any point along the way you're scratching your head, stop and rewind.
Assuming you actually transferred the rom to the sd (internal or ext), you're simply not pointing to it when flashing through the recovery.
Saying something failed isn't saying a whole lot. If you want useful help, you need to be much more detailed. What completed successfully, what exactly failed, when, what were the steps to duplicate, etc.
Put your phone into the boot loader.... Run the ruu and let it go back to stock... The root your phone again.

Have you tried doing a factory reset yet? a lot of times that's all it needs if you're on a stockish rom
