Im going to recode some videos to have on my hero.
What video resolution should i have to exploit the screen best.
Im going to use dvdfab but it dont have any settings for the hero.
Anyone who got some straight up answers.
What format is best, what size? Any other programs?
I thought the iPod Touch settings work just fine?
Did you try those?
Normally, I use ImToo (commercial app) but over the last couple of weeks I've been trying out Handbrake which is free, as I'm out of the country and using a laptop rather than my normal PC. With Handbrake, Ipod Touch/Iphone settings works fine.
Regards,
Dave
Here are some great alternatives to netflix for your touchpad.
Hulu , works great but you may need to patch your browser to make it work.
epctv.com , watch live online tv, I watch CNN live on here.
crackle.com , they have a big selection of movies. Its not netflix but hay its free.
zinc.tv , you really should check this out. Online media center for your touchpad. Watch all kinds of shows for free with a great interface.
Epixhd.com - Great alternative to Netflix.
some of these sites may not work with ad blocker installed.
if anyone can think of others, please share.
tv.blinkx.com
and
sidereel.com
they host LINKS to sites that host the episodes so as far as I know (I could easily be wrong) it's legal.
If you have a hbo subscription wwwhbogo.com.
EPIXHD.COM works great on the TP. Just watched The Captains on it in HD.
thanks for the links!

This is a GREAT list!
Any idea how someone would be able to watch/listen to NFL games on the touchpad, or even at all? We recently moved 2 states away and won't be able to follow our local team.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

probably using espn online since it's flash.
Also, al jazeera english has a live tv stream for news on youtube.com
"wwitv.com" EXACTLY like that. Its a crappy site but a great way to watch live broadcasts. I'm watching Fox's live broadcast from NY right now. Decent framerate, always live.
there is also orb streaming for the touchpad - (http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/294298-orb-media-streaming-awesome.html)
I've use orb in the past with dishnetwork, works great.
im looking forward to netflix finishing their switch from silverlight to html5 video. they already did for chrome os. when everything is sorted out on it, itll be open to linux and the others soon, and hopefully we can watch it in the touchpads browser soon.
Is there a patch on Preware for adding Hulu support to the browser?
I use p2p4u.net lot of sports and local tv stations for America
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
the app video flood hd is really nice it has all the links you have listed and a lot more all wrapped up in a easy UI, and there is a Hulu fix in preware, for who want that.
If you're trying to add Hulu support, make sure you add these testing feeds to Preware.
Target Device: ALL
Name: webos-testing-all
URL: http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/webos-internals/testing/all

Netflix is not currently available for WebOS devices. The forum at slickdeals suggests to reply to @Netflixhelps on Twitter and request an official release of the Netflix streaming app for WebOS.
Hulu is also not currently available for WebOS devices. There is a workaround I found posted, but that I personally have not tried. I will edit this post after I try it to let you know how it goes. Google "prewarewebosbuzz Hulu". First result.
You can stream video content from your PC to Touchpad by using Tversity. From slickdeals:
1. Install Tversity media server on your laptop/desktop.
2. After installation, add the files you want to view on the library tab. To add an avi file, go to Library, File system, Files and click add item on top.
3. Open cmd prompt on your computer, and type "ipconfig" There you should find your IP address. Note this down.
4.On your touchpad, open a web browser, then type in :41952/flashlib after your IP address. For example, h t t p : // 192.168.1.0 :41952/flashlib
There you should be able to browse your folders to find the video you are looking for. One problem is that you can't rewind/forward etc.
Again Slickdeals:
Amazon Video On Demand/Prime Videos works runs rather well. Audio holds up well but you might need to use the pop out function on the player over full screen to get it to fill the screen. It might lag when first starting it up but pausing and allowing it to buffer will allow it to self correct.
UK - tvcatchup

or you can install kalemsoft media player http://www.kalemsoft.com/site/demos/com.kalemsoft.ksmplayera_0.3.7_tp.ipk using the webos quick install program that you used to install preware on your touchpad. dont install it from preware, itll crash.
Hp Touchpad
Does anyone know how to get the YouTube icon back on the touchpad? I seemed to have lost it after I installed impostah on it? Also does anyone know or have in idea when gingerbread will be out and what site I can use for the latest updates / downloads on gingerbread? I sen the latest video that was out that they have the wifi working I dont know whay they dont release it.
I've been enjoying the news about which apps work on the Nook Tablet and picked one up a couple hours ago.
After getting through the list so far, I wanted to see if Plex and DishOnline would work.
I used ES Explorer on my Sensation 4G to make backups of both, copied over to the Nook Tablet microsd and opened with ES Explorer on the NT.
Watched live tv via DishOnline app. Watched a movie via Plex app from my Plex server. Obviously over wifi, but just made my day.
Enjoy!
I just tried Plex and is disappointed with the low resolution via wireless. Apparently this was an issue? How did you or anyone else resolve the problem?
I've been running tests with the Dish client and it works great over my in-house network. It serves up video well and I love the way the guide looks from the NT.
I noticed the resolution wasn't perfect either, but I set Enable Video Filter and that seemed to help a bit. My movies are all 720p mkv's, so I'm guessing the quality on the NT is what it is. For the kids, I don't think they'll care.
It was more about the fact that it worked using the same .apk and MAYBE we can convince someone at Plex to make some tweaks. Wishful thinking.
Doesn't the Plex server downscalee video for phones, etc. by default? Wifi is robust enough to stream without downscaling, I'd check your Plex server settings.
thread moved..
Thread moved to "NT themes and apps".
Ah, I changed Video Quality setting on the NT just now prior to Browse. 3Mbps was the sweet spot. Movies looked crisp. But fast moving content was taxing.
hello i have a couple of questions.
what's the best format to convert dvd to watch in Nook tablet?
and the resolution of the screen?
and there's a way to see also the subs with a video?
Hello,
Remember search is your firend. I found this in seconds flat.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24274132&highlight=video+format#post24274132
Personaly I use DVD FAB and use the Kindle Fire settings for ripping DVDs. Works great.
well thanks
but that link wasn't what i was looking for
i have 2 separate files, an avi and a sub...
which programme will allow me to see the video with the subs?
and thanks for dvdfab... but i don't have the kindle fire option, maybe i need to update it
have a great weekend
This is what I've been using http://handbrake.fr/; it works great, plus it's FREE Hope this helps.
So as the title says, and yes I searched, guess what comes up, posts from 2009 or useless info. Anyway, I have used google too and I can't find what I effectively need. Taking a long flight, I'm looking for freeware to put DVD files on my devices, of which I own several to choose from. The files are currently .vob, I can transfer files, but nothing stock reads them, The rooted and/or jailbroken devices can see them and play, but I have to manually select each file when said file is over. Anything available in freeware that you know of ot use to help out??? Flight is Friday morning.....
Try mx.video player. It supports a ton of video formats, and hopefully it supports vob. Make sure you set it to sw fast decoding for video though
