What is the bug in the app?
You can also try Tv Shows Stream, its a very good app for streaming with aaaaaaall series

Dont forget to klick thanks
Just looked up DroidTV on the MArket. Sounds like an amazing app, but it lists Archos tablets as not appropriate. Thats a shame as it would have looked great on such a big screen ....

Yap Tv Show Stream is quite nice, you can see all series but the disadvantage is that not all movies are in there (maybe because that app is quite new)
You can find it in the market or here

Here are some great alternatives to netflix for your touchpad.
Hulu , works great but you may need to patch your browser to make it work.
epctv.com , watch live online tv, I watch CNN live on here.
crackle.com , they have a big selection of movies. Its not netflix but hay its free.
zinc.tv , you really should check this out. Online media center for your touchpad. Watch all kinds of shows for free with a great interface.
Epixhd.com - Great alternative to Netflix.
some of these sites may not work with ad blocker installed.
if anyone can think of others, please share.
tv.blinkx.com
and
sidereel.com
they host LINKS to sites that host the episodes so as far as I know (I could easily be wrong) it's legal.
If you have a hbo subscription wwwhbogo.com.
EPIXHD.COM works great on the TP. Just watched The Captains on it in HD.
thanks for the links!
rlee
This is a GREAT list!
Any idea how someone would be able to watch/listen to NFL games on the touchpad, or even at all? We recently moved 2 states away and won't be able to follow our local team.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

probably using espn online since it's flash.
Also, al jazeera english has a live tv stream for news on youtube.com
"wwitv.com" EXACTLY like that. Its a crappy site but a great way to watch live broadcasts. I'm watching Fox's live broadcast from NY right now. Decent framerate, always live.
there is also orb streaming for the touchpad - (http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/294298-orb-media-streaming-awesome.html)
I've use orb in the past with dishnetwork, works great.
im looking forward to netflix finishing their switch from silverlight to html5 video. they already did for chrome os. when everything is sorted out on it, itll be open to linux and the others soon, and hopefully we can watch it in the touchpads browser soon.
Is there a patch on Preware for adding Hulu support to the browser?
I use p2p4u.net lot of sports and local tv stations for America

the app video flood hd is really nice it has all the links you have listed and a lot more all wrapped up in a easy UI, and there is a Hulu fix in preware, for who want that.
If you're trying to add Hulu support, make sure you add these testing feeds to Preware.

Netflix is not currently available for WebOS devices. The forum at slickdeals suggests to reply to @Netflixhelps on Twitter and request an official release of the Netflix streaming app for WebOS.
Hulu is also not currently available for WebOS devices. There is a workaround I found posted, but that I personally have not tried. I will edit this post after I try it to let you know how it goes. Google "prewarewebosbuzz Hulu". First result.
You can stream video content from your PC to Touchpad by using Tversity. From slickdeals:
1. Install Tversity media server on your laptop/desktop.
2. After installation, add the files you want to view on the library tab. To add an avi file, go to Library, File system, Files and click add item on top.
3. Open cmd prompt on your computer, and type "ipconfig" There you should find your IP address. Note this down.
4.On your touchpad, open a web browser, then type in :41952/flashlib after your IP address. For example, h t t p : // 192.168.1.0 :41952/flashlib
There you should be able to browse your folders to find the video you are looking for. One problem is that you can't rewind/forward etc.
Again Slickdeals:
Amazon Video On Demand/Prime Videos works runs rather well. Audio holds up well but you might need to use the pop out function on the player over full screen to get it to fill the screen. It might lag when first starting it up but pausing and allowing it to buffer will allow it to self correct.

or you can install kalemsoft media player http://www.kalemsoft.com/site/demos/com.kalemsoft.ksmplayera_0.3.7_tp.ipk using the webos quick install program that you used to install preware on your touchpad. dont install it from preware, itll crash.

Also does anyone know or have in idea when gingerbread will be out and what site I can use for the latest updates / downloads on gingerbread? I sen the latest video that was out that they have the wifi working I dont know whay they dont release it.
Sorry if this has been brought up. I've gotten pretty good at converting my dvds using handrake to be able to play on most android devices. I'm interested in converting my blu-rays to hd mp4 or some other format using handbrake.
For example:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides/blu-ray-rip/259-rip-blu-ray-to-mp4-using-handbrake
Now I know that wouldn't be able to fit on my phone or tablet. There is a good guide some where in the vibrant forum that I use for dvds but I can't find the link and I don't know if that guide has the proper settings for converting blue rays.
Now I plan on watching these on my vibrant just for fun and I plan on buying an asus memo when it comes out. So I think converting them to 1280X720 should be fine. So if anyone has any suggestions on the proper setting I would appreciate it.
Edit:
I found this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1l1P7ALnwY
for converting blu-rays down to 4g at 1080p but it has more stuff in the advanced setting checked than in this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729094 and I'm not sure what presets if any the person on youtube is using. Any feedback would be helpful
A couple of guys in the office have recently gotten iPads & the boss is now talking about getting a couple of iTV's for the meeting rooms - to compensate for the fact that they never put proper IT infrastructure in there...
Will it be possible for me to connect with my TP? I'd hope to be able to flick through images, show & mark up .pdf's and possibly open some CAD files on the telly screen. Being able to use YouTube & play movies would be a bonus...

You didn't use use google didn't you?

One option would be doubleTwist with the optional AirSync plug-in (which adds the Airplay functionality). Otherwise, you could just mirror the Prime's display using the micro hdmi output directly to the television for a wider choice of content.

But this doesn't mirror the Prime's screen, which is what I'd like to be able to do. AFAIK that isn't currently possible. Correct me if I'm wrong. We have an AppleTv in one of our conference rooms at work and I would like to link to it for presentations, etc.
Thanks for the responses. It seems that the solution I'm looking for does not exist. Shame... I will however install one of the airplay apps & see how that works out.

I do actually. Do you understand the question I asked, because your link doesn't answer my question...
If you have a 3rd Gen Apple TV then doubletwist doesn't work with Video. It works well with Audio. I had a case going on with doubletwist where they ended up refunding me the cost of the Airsync plug in as it wasn't working as it was supposed.
I think with 2nd Gen Apple TV you might be alright, but I haven't tried it.
I was trying out an app called 'iMediaShare' or something of the likes the other day. I was able to go through photos, videos, music (as long as it is stored on your device and not in gMusic), and youtube over an Apple TV. Looking through it, I do not see any way to go through PDFs or CAD designs though. For everything, your best bet as of now would be to use the mini HDMI and find separate apps for everything.
I have tried both AppleTV media player & iMedia player, but I cannot even see the Apple TV in the devices list. Its a third gen...

Hello, I hope this is the right place for these questions. I've been surprised when I first saw this tablet. The only thing that isn't convincing me is the Amazon OS. Today it looks like a root exploit has been found ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542456 ) Now my questions are:
Is it possible to install the Google play store?
With Silk can I normally download files from browser and read them? (like pdfs or winrar archives)
Can I transfer files from the computer with the usb cable and read them from the kindle, like films or apks? (maybe a stupid question because it is android based OS, but it's the first time I'm buying an amazon tablet so better ask before..) Thanks guys
I'm having the exact same thoughts as well. About to make a tablet buying decision between the Sony Z and this. The Amazon software is the only reason I would not go with it instead

Let's see what people, who already bought it, thinks about it
WIth root, installing the Play store is possible and will work fine if you have all the right framework files installed. This has been confirmed in the general and android development sections.
Silk will allow you to download files just fine.
You can access the Kindle just like any other Android device when plugged in via USB. That is to say, it's drag and drop file management. I have sideloaded MX Player for video playback. It's my favorite player and I've successfully watched MKV, avi, mpg, m4v files with audio encoded in DTS and Dolby 5.1. DTS decoding requires a custom codec that's available on XDA.
PDF's work just fine. I'm using EZPDF and Moon Reader+, but you can take your pick. I don't think they can be view from inside the browser if that's what you're asking. I have Chrome sideloaded and use it as my primary browser.
The Kindle has a setting to allow third party apps to be installed just like any other Android device so APK's can be installed easily.
All in all, the HDX is almost perfect. If root access will fix the customization issues (wallpapers and widgets) along with Play Store access this will be the best device on the market.
It has the best combination of screen size, screen resolution, thickness, weight, battery life, and power. Snapdragon 800 is as good as it gets for now and really make this device fly. The resolution and color production is as good as it gets confirmed by Displaymate testing and from personal experience.
If Amazon had allowed Play Store access out of the box, it would the unquestioned best tablet on the market. Thanks to XDA, we will have it shortly.
EDIT: I have the HDX 8.9

No. I got the 64gb version with no ads. I need all the memory I can get.

Do you know if it supports OTG? I would enjoy connecting a flash drive with a microusb-usb adapter..
Well, I just took the plunge and bought a 32gb HDX 8.9
I have zero desire to use any of Amazon's services, but the hardware on this is so perfect for what I am looking for.
I do hope that the discovered root method will lead to recovery, and custom roms, but I am not expecting that to happen either.
After looking at what can be done with apps and everything, I can probably get by on stock. If not, there is always the 30 day return window!

Personally I don't have a desire for custom roms on this device. It is stable with great battery life. Root gets me enough of the features and customization I want. Plus I get to keep the Amazon services which would most likely break with custom roms. But I'll be excited to see if Cyanogen or Paranoid Android supports this device.

As far as I know, In Canada we are limited by what Amazon can offer to us. We certainly don't get the full experience.
What specific features does root allow?
