I think so. It's like the best of both. Flashed via fastboot. Works well on my HTC unlocked hboot 1.5 3d.

Does it work better than TWRP on hboot 1.5? If so, how?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Well, Cwm is kind of the Standard it seems. It has the full touch screen interface and the hardware buttons work also if digitizer goes bad. Cwm is continually updated/supported whereas TWRP appears to have stalled. I will admit I had problems getting anything other than TWRP 2.0, CWM 4.0.1.4 & Cwm Touch 5.0.8.2 loaded on my HTC unlocked hboot 1.5 3d. (see signature). The touch version just makes it quicker/easier to use.

If you're already rooted with 1.4 and S-Off, the easiest way is to use JK's FlashImage Gui app, locate the file, check "flash recovery" and then reboot to the new recovery. There is also a step by step load scenario (7) in the Rom/Recovery Issues thread in my signature.
Is anyone else having problems flashing files with the touch recovery?
I'm. On hboot 1.50 HTC Unlocked S-On with Cwm Touch 5.0.8.1.
Works well for.me other than sdcard mount/usb charging. Have tried 5.0.8.2 Touch yet. I always.enter recovery from fastboot by
typing : fastboot boot YourRecoveryFilename.img
Then format & flash everything at once. Detailed steps/ scenarios for what ive done are in the Rom / recovery issues thread in my signature.

I tried the Synergy_3Dvo_Superwipe. Didn't work for me on CWM Touch 5.0.8.1. Don't know if its setup to use TWRP, but it's just a zip so I don't see why it's be recovery specific unless the scripts need specific features/code.

BTW, you can't brick a device by flashing a recovery image
Well thats not entirely true. If u flash a wrong recovery img, you could mess up the system partition, and the rom wont boot anymore, neither will the recovery work.
The only way to fix this would be to flash a working recovery and flash a new rom, which would be hard if we dont have a working recovery.
Luckily this works. Can comfirm.
Thanx OP!
Coz i just saw it in 3D with the Shooter!

To keep things clean. I did that and you both are wrong. When you flash a not working recovery, your system won't boot.
You simply reflash a working recovery, boot into recovery and flash the same rom over it without wipe and you are good to go
That means that I'm not wrong
If you still can boot in hboot, you haven't bricked your device. If you bricked your device, you can't do anything.
Thanks

When trying to flash to another ROM, in the recovery mode I am getting the "ROM Manager icon". The ROM Manager icon appears in whatever selection I choose. I cannot reboot, flash, turn off, mount, or any of the other options. The only way I can get out of that screen is to perform a battery pull.
I currently have HIGH ROM installed and am trying to install LeeDroids ROM. I tried installing through ROM manager but that also gave me an error saying I don't have the latest ROM manager when I do (got from Market same day), and that the SD card is not mounted. Any possible solutions?

I never use Rom Manager, I always do everything from the Recovery itself.
It's not a homebrew, It's an official CWM from Revolutionary! Enjoy!

You can flash roms using a computer with no issues lol using fastboot boot recovery.img in hboot with ADB.. You have to put a copy of your recovery.img in your adb folder for this method to work not hard at all.
You can use flash GUI to flash kernels and flash the rom in recovery .... You may wanna read up on the guy that made the app he has instructions...
I have used the app in the past not a bad thing to have... Tho I prefer using the computer always a one stop shop for me

Just download from the market the Flash GUI app and you can flash any boot.img (kernel) first and then flash the ROM and you should be all set.
Yes, if you travel alot then Flash Image GUI would be for you.
the pg86100 is the htc evo 3d if i am not mistaken and i have one and have hboot 1.5 also, i see you have boot manager listed as one of your apps. you can use this app as well with hboot 1.5 and still flash your heart away just make sure you unlock the bootloader via HTC's method and have root access and youll be good to go

i know with my evo 3d you can flash and rom from the recovery ... you just save the rom in its zip format to your sdcard and when in recovery mode that i use i just select " install zip from sdcard" and guide it to said rom then once selected it will begin an install process... now keep in mind that if your info is not backed up you will lose it... and you can still use the kernel that comes with the rom to flash it is just the same... it should be in the boot.img area of the rom you saved

I got my Evo 3d off Craigslist this morning and i love it. Traded my Evo 4g plus cash for it and i couldnt be happier. I was very successful in rooting the 4g amd never had any problems that i can think of and im hoping the same goes for the 3d.
Anyways ive been reading and reading on how to root it, get s-off so i can install a recovery and them flash a rom and kernel. Ive managed to confuse myself because it seems that if you root it one way, you may not be able tp fash custom kernels and if you use another method to root it, your more than like to have all sorts of problems.
Basicall i need help and if someone could post a link to show me best method on how to root, s-off, install custom recovery, and install a rom on the 3d it would be greatly appreciated.

The twrp recovery has a method to flash that recovery without a computer by downloading it as a zip and naming it properly. See their site for detail.
I still recommend s-off since it is easier to flash Roms and the ics Roms tend to bootloop with s-on.

It looks like you renamed it to the wrong thing. If you downloaded TWRP 2.2.0 zip, it must be renamed PG86IMG.zip on the root of the sd card. Then when you update in bootloader, it should work.

Your welcome. Glad you figured it out. I personally have never had an issue with the 4ext recovery.
1.Backstory:
I am running the latest ICS leak (4.03.605.2) I am UN-Rooted and S-Off
When I ran Controlbear everything went fine but when presented with the option to install a different hboot I declined...
Now via ADB I CANNOT push recovery... I get the remote fail error.
I've tried renaming the flashable Amon Ra recovery to PH98IMG.zip...but it doesn't "parse." Regardless I am unable to do anything.
What are my option and what do I do?
S-on and then re-off? How do I S-on? (I haven't seen a rezound thread for this)
Can I flash anything? Do I flash a different hboot? Can I flash it via the PH98IMG method?
Any help would be most appreciated!

Ok...so...am I able to flash that even though I'm successfully running Nils business ICS 605.2 ? I have to say that everything is running amazingly smooth and perfect! Even GPS locks instantly and accurately!
Oh and you will never believe this but...I have YET to encounter dropped data!!!!!!!

You can't flash stuff in fastboot with a locked bootloader with the stock hboot, and s-off relocks the bootloader.
So you have to flash a hacked hboot.
Flashing via ph98img, however, still works.
